Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Castle Rock (Stephen King series) [Hulu]

Produced by JJ Abrams.. as a big Stephen King fan, I'm more than a little intrigued!

Stephen King and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions have teased the impending arrival of a secret new Hulu project titled Castle Rock, named after the fictional Maine town that serves as the setting of many of the author's stories.

Stephen King on Trump, Writing and Why Selfies Are Evil
"JJ Abrams and I want to invite you to take a trip to Castle Rock. Soon. Be afraid," King warned on Twitter after the minute-long teaser was revealed.

The video that accompanied the video lists the names of many of the characters, places and creatures that lurked in and around Castle Rock – Shawshank State Prison, It's Pennywise, 'Salem's Lot's Marsten House and Needful Things' Brian Rusk – as well as King creations far removed from the Maine town, like Misery's Annie Wilkes, The Shining's Danny Torrance and John Coffey and Mr. Jingles from The Green Mile.

Each character and place is connected by pulsing veins, suggesting that whatever Castle Rock is, the project has created a universe where the King stories are happening simultaneously.

    King and Abrams

The ending is going to be atrocious.

Let Lost go, dude. It was 7 years ago.

JJ is nowhere near the writing on this one. He is only E.P. (and only on the first episode, according to IMDB)

    You ever read King?

    He couldn't finish his dinner.

Not sure what to make of it. I love Stephen King and the idea sounds crazy great. Hope they can pull it off.

I hope this is not another Under The Dome

It’s produced by JJ Abrams Bad Robot, so it’s more likely it will look and feel more like 11.22.63, than Under the Dome.

I watched the first 3 when I got in from work this morning and quiet enjoyed.

A good mystery and I'm sure I missed most of the Stephen King Easter Eggs throughout it.

Looking forward to episode 4 next week.

Just watched the first one and have the next two lined up. Want to watch them now but have to be up early. Decent opening. Big King fan so hoping this is going to be great.

How is this series for people who haven't seen/read much Stephen King Books/TV/Movies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,884 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

You don't really need to know anything about King's stuff really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭TomOnBoard

A lot of SK's stuff doesnt translate well onto film. Theres something in his writing that works inside your imagination to create a multi-dimensional richness that that the two-dimensional work just cant capture... I look forward to this and hope it works..

If you dont know anything about his books youre probably better off as you wont be comparing and the film or tv show can stand or fall on its own..

Binged the first 3 episodes really enjoyed it, great cast and I really like the mystery of it all. I hope it's a ratings success and we get more then one season.

Either it goes to show how often it happens or I just watch the type of show it happens in, but anytime it shows someone driving from the point of view of the passenger seat, as it did with Molly, I always expect to see the headlights of another vehicle (usually a truck) coming towards the car

Me too and yet I still tense at the impact.

Did Dennis predict that ending? Is that what he saw in the security cameras?

Yes, he saw the outcome. I was thinking the episode was pretty lame until that ending. WOW!!!

I could see them going down the anthology route if they close mystery in this season.

I will say it now Hulu will renew this.

Jaysus... the end of that episode was something else!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,884 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A slow episode this week however the ending just adds to the mystery.

I really hope the writers didn't let King write the ending to the series.

I think it's excellent so far.Wonder will anyone channel show it over here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

It was an excellent episode again. I'm a bit worried Scott Glenn might not be in it for to much longer as he is listed as a special guest star. I hope not as he is one of my favourite charecters.

Slow episode and I was starting to lose interest in it but that ending has me hooked back in now.

    Renewed for a second season.

Ep 6 out, Great ep too. Was getting a real
John Coffey vibe off of young Pennywise, you know, just like the drink but spelled different. ;) He may not be all bad. He killed the Nazi with cancer but wants to help crazy Carrie?
    .

    Then
The last scene kicked in and left us with a cliffhanger......
    . Balls.

Shazaam. Schizma. Samsonite, it's on the case........pure King right there. I'll allow it. :D

Liking it so far, I've read some King books so am getting some of the references and the acting is good so far, with enough mystery to keep watching so long as it wraps up by the end.

    Well that was weird:eek:
