    Francie you love a bet.

Monaghan in front throughout, clear last furlong, green, wandered all across track and back across again, closed in on in last few yards, nailed on line to force a photo finish.

That it would be themselves as victims so it would make it sweeter. But no way it would happen given neither would want to play us.

Have to play you at some stage but suggesting a deal is fanciful. Galway do the hard work with two wins, do a deal with Monaghan for a draw and come unstuck with a last minute point sending Monaghan top. Not a chance.

Monaghan closed out their game against Kildare better then Galway did by the sounds of it. Didn't see the 2nd half only had it on the radio.

Monaghan won by 2 after Kildare missing plenty of chances . And shat the bed today . Think they will pay a big price for it

Kerry were down to 14 and Clifford scored a goal. So yeah entirely possible they would have conceded that goal. the sending off finished Kerry last Sunday. Galway were very unimpressive against an average Roscommon team. I think they have more forward power than Monaghan but its a very 50/50 game.

Galway seem to have been unimpressive against Mayo Roscommon Kerry and Kildare . Amazing really

That game was over last Sunday when Clifford scored . Was never gonna be any more then a consolation . Was last kick of game .

You still huffing about people being critical of 10 to 15 minutes negative play?

    Dear me.

Monaghan did nothing of the sort today.

No they didn’t, they tried and it backfired😂😂😂

Game over and a foul ball from Geaney. Galway havent conceded with the game in the melting pot. Mayo poor, Roscommon poor, Kerry poor, kildare no good. Hopefully Dublin will be crap if we play them too.

Nonsense. They passed it around at the back for a while waiting for something to open up for them.

That is entirely different to what Dublin did, which every football loving fan wants to forget. (If only Bonnie would open his/her own thread to moan about somebody criticising it)

To funny, you have just said they passed it around for a while. They attempted to do it and the players didn’t have the ability to complete the task, simple as.

Any team that passes the ball around are now doing what Dublin did for 10 to 15 mins???? :D:D:D:D

How desperate are you guys? :D:D

If you can't keep the ball, you lose control. It's that simple

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Speakerboxx

unbelievable to think Monaghan couldn't close out that game. They don't deserve to go any further. They were the better team and couldnt win. The weight of history got to them. They will pay for this too when Galway destroy them in two weeks and Galway and Kerry will walk straight into a semi final. Kerry always get that luck from impossible situations.

That's true Monaghan definitely aren't Dublin

Dublin would have closed it out

I would have thought both teams had equal enough amounts of the ball.

Monaghan should not have let themselves get into another Fermanagh position, no doubt about it.

Could have won it only for a wayward pass.

We have 3 points and a trip to Galway. It's in our hands and Kerry can only watch. Far from a bad place to be.

    Good call ;)

Monaghan bottled it today .they won’t go through now

What a finish in stoppage time by Clifford. Composure & clinical!

The Kildare v Galway game was very good today, some excellent scores. An impressive win from Galway but it wasn't nice to see them pass the ball around in their own half towards the end. Not entertaining. Donegal had way too much for Roscommon who we already have to throw into the B championship.
Tyrone v Dublin had two teams set up defensively and was fairly boring. Then Monaghan v Kerry had a lot of bad play, McManus and Clifford were excellent and it was an exciting finish.
Overall the elite 8's haven't taken off. It's just trudging through to the inevitable. Attendances are poor still. Obviously Kildare v Galway couldn't have had more than 8k but how many were there? I thought Tyrone v Dublin was a sell out but only 16,000 were there. In Dublin's first away game since 2006, they had a shockingly poor number of supporters. Can't get the official attendance for Monaghan v Kerry yet but it didn't look that big.

Must say this post seems more than a little delusionary.

Was at the Tyrone/Dublin game, thoroughly enjoyed it. Watched most of the other two today, and they were gripping until the end, some very good point scoring in the first half of the first game and a lot of excitement to the Monaghan/Kerry game.

Attendances do drop when you move outside of Croke Park, for all teams. For all the criticism from certain circles, those attendances last weekend were much better.

As for what to take from the weekend, Monaghan bottled a championship win against a big team once again. Have they ever beaten Dublin or Kerry in the Championship?

First away game at the 'home' venue of the opposition. There was a good Dublin crowd in fairness. The attendance is affected by cost and the system. This new system has 3 QF, a semi and final if you follow a team that expected to progress such as Tyrone and Dublin, it's inevitable there'll be some fall off in attendance.

Yep but like last week it's simply painting over the cracks - Kerry were poor today and Galway, Tyrone or Dublin would have buried them.

Yeah, that's what away game means. Their first since 2006 but they had less than half of the 16,000 who were at the game. That's pretty poor.
Attendances are bad all round. HQ were hoping for bumper crowds with this elite 8 money making idea. It's not turning out so good at the moment. Poor football and poor attendances.
Probably lucky for them that Kerry got the late goal, 1 group would have been completely dead, it almost is anyway.

Lads don't feed the multi account trolls it should be obvious at this stage who you are dealing with.

I'd recorded the two games today, have to give Kerry credit what a comeback.

Rory B will be disappointed with his second half. His last miss would have made it a 4 point game. Kerry dug it out and should have had a free after that too.

great finish. Thought Gavin White was good, Hardy boy that was a good belt he shipped.

Really hope Galway and Monaghan trash out a deal in the the next 10 days or so and agree to draw the match. Both will go trough and no pressure on Monaghan

yeah, and then Monaghan decide in the last minute they want to win so they avoid a semi with Dublin, and go on to win by a point.......Galway definitely have an incentive to win this match. If they are to meet Dublin, the final is the place to do it.

I thought your last post was delusional but this one was worse.

    Attendances are bad all round?

Healy Park was mostly full, Newbridge was mostly full, decent crowd in Clones, didn't see Hyde Park, but from the three I did see, if you allowed for the season ticket holders who may not have travelled, they were mostly full.

Now we face into a final weekend, with three of the four games with something to play for.

Dont know about that. They conceded quite a similar one last week v the same opposition!

Some of the Monaghan lads lost the plot near the end today. They had great opportunities to close out the game but went for personal glory with several long distance Hail Mary's instead of playing for the team.
They deserved what happened in the end with the Kerry goal because of their glory hunting.
