No. They can only act if the Broadcasting Act has been breached.

"I don't like Colm Hayes" and "Pat James was shafted" probably won't cut it.
But breaching the terms of the "classic rock license" might!

Ever watch "midmorning matters" with Alan partridge? Similar banter to Hayes only it's not real

They had just painted the toilets in work this morning.
I was sitting in the john this morning. I thouight the colm and lucy show had been beamed into the toilets. But I realised I was just watching paint dry.

FNM 'WE CARE A LOT ' BLASTING OUT NOW.
i own a petrol station, a very busy one; with the boom now back and a lot of tradesmen etc around, it really makes us stand out, people are always commenting on the music. can get a wee wee bit heavy at times, but not too often :)

A great mix of classic hits incl. rock based tunes.

Should read ANTIDOTE / THE WOLF OOPS!

This is just for fun and as a matter of interest. So, you have a choice to make, the reward is that the Colm & Lucy Breakfast Show will be cancelled and all mention of it purged from the Nova archives. However, you have to bring back one of the following:

Morning Glory (with your choice of Dee & Marty or Marty & Conor)

    Or

    Nova Breakfast with Pat Courtenay

If they put in Greg, Peter or Gavin in the mid morning/afternoons...then PC in the morning..at least he'd be gone by 10....:P

Edit....better again, Courtenay AND Miller ...two birds n all that...

I actually like PC - he is a good presenter with a passion for decent music, but is restricted by the upstairs on what he can play.
I'd put Dee & Marty back in on breakfast. Mind you, when they were together the music was a lot better.

That's because Dee has a better taste in music...:)

PC just needs to shut the fcuk up with that zany unfunny 80's style of presenting....he,s better than that....

I'm with you in relation to PC, FanadMan. I know that Pat isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he does appear to be a genuine music fan and I always tune in to his show if I'm in the car while he's live. As regards Dee and Marty, I think they work better as solo practitioners.

Think back when it was Dee & Marty, there was far wider scope on the music played and the DJs had more freedom of choice. Now, it's 80s pop and new music. Gone are the days when you could hear Dire Straits, AC/DC and David Bowie regularly on Nova. Now it's Eurythmics, George Ezra and Bastille.

Martys various breakfast shows had a rock theme too, he'd have trivia about music and hyped up gigs that were happening. Now it's entertainment channel celeb bottom of the barrel Crap.

I expect a shake up of sat and sun late mornings / afternoons with a wacky male and female duo from Hayes go to list of comedians and has-been tv presenters.

bet they'll call it the weekend brunch

Lucy, in the middle of some mindless drivel, asked Colm if Liam Gallagher's song-for what it's worth- is a new song. She never heard it before. On a rock music ststion?

Jnlr day today... Last one in February was good. Probably still Early to measure Hayes.

One of the only stations not crowing over their results, yet anyway.

Last was in April not February; the last they bothered mentioning on Twitter was February.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 933 ✭✭✭jamule

just had a quick look, down to 5% from 6% last quarter. A drop of around 20%. They won't be mentioning it I presume!

They used to have some ad where they made fun of radio rating results... something along the lines that did didn't care about ratings, only music. Now I guess they don't care about either of those.
