The second Eid festival take's place on the 21st August, lambs are probably being gathered for that.

The last three years they wanted ram lambs well fleshed from 42 to 50 kg and they paid 2.30/kg so i doubt them lighter lambs are for eid

You’d be surprised. I’ve sold lambs deadweight for that festival before, 16kg- 19kg deadweight is what they were looking for ( and nothing fatty) to give the end user an affordable product.

Considering the dry spell and likelihood less farmers from the midlands will be buying Store lambs to finish this year the store trade isn’t bad at all.Was over visiting family friends in Leitrim last week.We took a look into Manorhamilton mart last Wednesday, good quality forward stores around 38kg were making over 80 euro. That would be much the same as last years prices.

One factor which might lead to less customers for Store lambs is if farmers that usually buy store lambs go growing ‘Catch’ crops on the ground the lambs would have being bought to go onto.
