they are £36.32 for a twin pack, which is very good value (thy are usually £50)

The colour GU10's are £31.97 (single bulb), which is also very good value.

Got an Amazon Echo and White Hue Starter kit for 75 pound delivered, seemed decent price and will add to it over the next while, chuffed.

    or a light strip+ & 1m extension for £49.99 (incredible value)

    There's some good enough deals.

Picked up the lightstrip and extension for €58 from amazon.de and also picked up 3 colour bulbs for €87.

With the whole stand-off between Google & Amazon at the moment, I wonder will we see good deals on Nest products next week.

Hoping we do, but I've a feeling we'll see some really good deals on Ring products instead.

    My Prime wishlist is:
    • Decent deal on a Nest Thermostat
    • A decent deal on a Nest compatible TRV system - Maybe the Energenie
    • Harmony Elite (or Ultimate - but I want the Elite)

Those will finish my 'smart home' buying for at least another 12 months.

Picked up 6 Energenie TRVs and 2 hubs for £152 today (on Warehouse Deals), also picked up the Elite for £129. Great deals.

Also picked up a Nest Thermostat.

I'm putting this forum on ignore for the foreseeable future :D Tesco Noodles here I come.

    Bought 2 Dots for £50.

    Does this happen often?

    Even Siri doesn’t do this...

Prime Day I guess. I’m all spent out anyway. Well disappointed with the Hue & Tado deals. Starter kits I need not.

I'm considering getting this, but I was wondering if I could get away with just the hub/app package (currently ~£60 for Prime Day) and my existing remotes for using in conjuction with GH mini?

My use being asking GH mini to turn on a specific show on Netflix on the smart telly app or a particular channel on the saorview box while my hands are full giving baby MiniMe her bottle and food, then using existing remotes when she's not being quite so unreasonable? Lol

Or would I be better off going with this package in the long run?

You could, but I wouldn't recommend it, my usage breaks down about:
    - 80% remote
    - 15% Voice
    - 5% App (mostly just config).

I really use the voice just to turn on/off, without needing to search around for the remote (I've it setup to automatically come on to Cbeebies, which is really what ends on most of the day).

It is the great remote that really makes it worth it IMO.

Apparently the 3 for 2 is finished now it doesn't come up when you add three items and customer support said it's no longer active. I have to say prime day has been a bit of a damp squib for me.

Anybody know if it's worthwhile reaching out to amazon threatening to cancel a product that is now cheaper?

buy the product again at the lower price, and when the original (more expensive) arrives, just return it and depending on why you want to return it, you'll either get free return postage, or will have to pay about €10 to return it.

I've just got one of these broadlink RM mini. I'm hoping to hook it up through home-assistant to voice control / automate a fan that has a remote. If it works well I might get a second for use in the living room for something like what you mention above.

This might be a stupid question, but can the remote learn to control things like those cheap little multicoloured, remote control LED's or a kids remote control train set etc? ( We... .....ok,fine, I use both at Hallowe'en and Christmas time) :D

Curry’s have a sale on - ends today.

I know their sales can often be rubbish but they have Google Homes down to €109 and minis down to €39

Good for a bricks and mortar retailer...they do click and collect and home delivery too.

I had considered the Broadlink RM pro/mini, but then my understanding from a couple of articles/videos I read and saw was that you would need something like an old phone or tablet close by, always powered on, acting as a hub??

.....Then again it's also possible that I completely picked it up wrong?!!Lol

I really would love to get a Google home but the Echo plus built in hub is so handy. Strange that Google have not done something similar.

I've got three energenie smart plugs that I bought from Amazon by mistake. I'll let them go for 20 euro for the three if that's any good for you.

I have a Raspberry Pi running home assistant that I will use as my hub. That is configured to work with google home so that covers those bases for me.

The full harmony is overkill for what I need so I hope this gives me a cheap partially DIY alternative

If they use standard IR, rather then RF, then use it should be able to control it or at least learn to do so. Might require a bit of fiddling.

Thanks for the offer but I've spare smart plugs lying around at this stage. Ha.

I'm not sure if there were any amazing bargains but there were quite a few tempters that got the better of me.

Got the harmony elite (thanks bk), an echo show and a few bulbs and sensors yesterday.

Made the mistake of alerting my wife who helped herself to a few pairs of footwear and a bag but I can't complain after what I spent myself.

A question in relation to Amazon Prime:

I signed up to Prime on the .co.uk site on Saturday. Then today, I was looking at Amazon.de and saw, what I thought, was a good deal on Philips Hue bulbs - a treble pack of e27's and e14's for €90 per pack.

    However, the .de site was encouraging me to sign up to Prime for the free 30 days.....which made me scratch my head;
    a. Maybe they've better deals than the €90 treble packs on Hue bulbs; but more importantly
ii. Does my Prime account only cover me on the site I signed up on??

Because I thought it was all the one Amazon, just with localised sites, rather than more like separate entities, just with the same name?

You may have picked it up wrong! I have an RM Pro, its just a bridge to RF/IR.
It just learns RF/IR commands and you can then tell it to send the command (or series of commands using preconfigured scenes) via the App or Google home. You dont need any phone/tablet always powered on or anything, just need to use the app to set it up.
