How would an attack on Dublin from Islamists change us?

    Legally and socially?

Legally -guards would carry handguns like the Americans. More surveillance in real life with CCTV's at every corner and spying on natioanl sites

Socially - paranoia would run rampant and we'd for the first time ban immigrants like Trump (or at the least stop them if they're not white and from the West). Definitely become more nanny-statish to levels never seen before.

    What else would change?

Why would Islamists attack us in the first place?

    ...

I think banning Trump would be very popular but I'm not sure how he would qualify as an immigrant.

That the left are totally deluded about Ireland not being a target for islamic terrorism.

Essentially nothing. Lots of candles, lots of hashtags, lots of news pieces on "Diversity". Concerts and Sports organizers will use it as a dream ticket for OTT security to prevent people bringing their own drink to events.

Legally? Doubt any change world fine about.

Socially? Well Ireland already is like that anyway.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    That's not just the left.

But if the goal of terrorism is to get attention, surely hitting a bigger more important city would be optimal? What do they gain from hitting Ireland? Unless it was something specific like the Pope's visit.

The same reason why they have attacked elsewhere they hate our guts dont for a moment think that they view Ireland any different because they dont.

You do remember those minor incidents that resulted in a few thousand deaths on this Island carried out by terrorists/freedom fighters/community defenders/forces of law & order?

The right don't think that it's much of a risk either.

I think you have to admit that terrorism from nationals is different than terrorism from foreigners. Look at America and 9/11. They got OKC, the Unibomber by white guys but no one paid attention until 19 Arabs hijacked and crashed 4 planes across the US.

    Funny,
Bombings didn't cause this over the decades they occurred, neither did the gun running or training sites.

This would really happen!..........in your wet dream
Though, I am all for banning trump

Seems to have died down over the last white. 2016 was particularly bad in Europe.

I'd say they'd avoid Dublin and attack somewhere popular with American tourists like Killarney or Blarney Castle.

OP, can you define what you mean by an attack by Islamists?

If it was some disgruntled immigrant attempting to run pedestrians down in a car and claiming inspiration from ISIS then that wouldn't have much effect at all.

If it was something centrally planned and organised a la 9/11 then that would be a different kettle of fish - but I doubt that's a realistic prospect.

If anything, I'd say they would go for a high profile target, like Facebook, Google or Apple.

low risk I would say, as they would probably want to bring a major European capital to a standstill, but there are targets all the same.

FB and Google have provided a huge propaganda and recruiting platform for extremists of all sorts, including Islamic extremists. they wouldn't bite the hand that feeds them.

Its all because it doesn't suit the agenda of hating "those foreigners"

Imagine if the US had banned immigrants like Trump at the start of the last century. Then this "discussion" probably never would have been started.

True, i just grabbed a few names out of thin air there, but hopefully you get my point.

Somewhere like Grand Canal or the IFSC would have enough international companies to make it high profile, as opposed to an attack on a tourist destination.

When have companies etc been targets?? Their main aim is to kill as many people as possible and show that they can hit anywhere. Thats why you have trucks in Xmas markets, londin bus bombings, etc. They think all of Europe are infidels.
