Haven’t seen any 182 Regs yet in the flesh. Dealers seem to have a big push on the last month to sell them a lot of offers been thrown out; free servicing, 0% or low rate finance, cash off, trade in bonuses etc. I know they have them evey year seems to be more this year though.

    Judges 520d must have calved:D

Indeed. A chap was prosecuted for stealing €250k off his employer (Boyle sports bookmaker) which he then gambled.

Got off very lightly, rumour has it the judge was fond of a flutter himself :pac:

Never forget you mechanic has to listen to your music while test driving your car... which can lead to some odd questions on collecting it.

    Such as, Why Pirate metal?

    Why not?

Got my 530d remapped by Sportchip.
Nice increase in bhp & torque, need to drive it in sport+ mode to stop traction control from taking away all the fun.
    305hp, 650Nm torque.

Eibach Pro spring kit also fitted this week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

That's a nice jump in power and torque, pretty much identical to 535d. Do you really notice the difference and any affect on fuel economy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,515 ✭✭✭ongarite

Been trying out the remap for last few days so not to good for fuel economy.
    I'll check on next refill.

Really notice the torque increase, traction control will cut power if you floor it in comfort mode at around 20-30kph which it never did on factory map.

In mayo the past week, some interesting cars flying about. Not sure if the good weather has brought a load of mx5s out separately or if they had a meet but met a few mk1 and mk2s floating about. One of them looked like it was set up for the track, would be a nice 2nd car. Some old school American muscle was cruising around Westport, think it was some sort of trans am. The noise from it was great but even when it was making all the right noises you could see it wasn't going anywhere fast. Also spotted a Golf R (meh :) ) and an M4 give the throttle a squeeze as he past me. I've always been into BMs but the new M stuff doesn't do much for me. Not sure if the M4 had an aftermarket exhaust, sounded louder than what I would guess a standard car sounds like but it was just loud and noisy. Didn't think it sounded great. Maybe I'm just growing out of all this shìt.

I'd agree on the M4 sound. Was one below my hotel window a few weeks back in Austria, very highpitched motor bikey rasp off it....reversing it was fooking awful sounding also heard one in a kildare village sounding the same. Race tuned noise I suppose to be fair... wouldn't be overly keen on listening to one too often.

Saw an E43 AMG in cork recently 181 reg mst be very rare id say.

E63 even rarer. Some absolute beast of a car. I know it's personnal taste but if I had the money to buy the new M5 or E63 it'd be the Merc all day every day. Gorgeous machine in exterior and interior looks.

My brother is after picking me up a pair of brand new Hella front lights for the 540i for half nothing from work, paid €340 incl VAT for the pair and the cheapest I could get them elsewhere is around €500 for the pair, BMW/Genuine are €400 odd each :pac:

Skoda Octavia 2007 with a mere 940K km on it

Thats 234km travelled every day of its life. Mad stuff. Just goes to show people considering cars with 160k km on them as high mileage is laughable.

Now to be fair for all we know that car could of had 5 engines, 8 gearboxes, 12 clutches and every body panel replaced probably not though.

I had to laugh when she asked your man what is the secret to getting a car to nearly 1m km and he said the main thing is to bring it into a Skoda dealer, lol.

I read your comment before I watched it and was expecting a pretty rough accent, hers is not bad at all.

Just read a Carzone review of the new M5. Fully specced it'll cost almost €200,000

For another €60k you could get an M760Li!

That must be the competition pack is it? Standard M5 is "only" 150k....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,573 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

There is still a fairly hefty options list on the M5 over the base price.

Does anyone know if folding mirrors when the car locks on a 3 series (2014) was ever standard from the factory. I don't believe it was, and my car does this every time I lock the car. Does this likely indicate that a bit of coding was done by a previous owner?

Nope, competition pack won't be out for another while when they have to give that "lift" to the car's sales.

This 200k is based solely on options on the main car. Carbon ceramic brakes for example is a €13,000 euro option!

    100% not standard on a 2012 F30

Mine folded when you held down the lock button for a few seconds. I coded it so that they fold instantly upon locking so yes, a bit of coding was done on your car.

Definitely not standard. Do you have to hold the lock button for a few seconds to activate the folding mirrors?
