Think the biggest thing been discussed here is that he was playing in virtually the same role for France that he is asked to play for United and as you say he simplified his game and got on with it and is reaping the rewards and long may it last I'd love an inform pogba.

But similar to de gea making one or two mistakes with spain and us not been worried, pogba having a good world cup does not help us one bit unless he comes back and does it with United.

Its not the same role though. He was playing in a 2 with matic with 4 attackers ahead of him. With france he has kante and matuidi offering protection giving him more freedom to play

Next season he will have Matic and Fred beside him so hopefully his performances improve.

Yep defo and sanchez with a full pre season should see a big improvement

So if we take what your saying about France is true(it’s not but I’m not getting into that discussion again). what's the excuse for when united moved to 433 after Christmas and in particular giving him extra protection in midfield.

Now remember he played his best football for us at the start of the season in a midfield two and then lost form so we moved to a midfield 3 to try help him regain that.

It just seems that there is a hell of a lot of excuses being made for Pogba for last season, when in essence he should be looking at himself.

As a side effect of this moving Lingard out of his best position while he was on a hot-streak :/

As much as people moaned about Sanchez effect on the team the formation as a whole hasn't been great.

How do you know we changed to a 3 to help him??

Maybe we changed formation to help lukaku who at one stage only scored 1 goal in 11 and was sulking when he was scoring

Was Pogba the reason we moved to a 4-3-3? I can't even remember why Mouringo switched.

But on France. I wouldn't really call it a 4-3-3. They played a normal 4-3-3 in the opener when Giroud wasn't playing. But with Giroud in the squad they move more towards a 4-2-3-1, with Giroud up top on his own and Griezmann playing in-between Mbappe and Matuidi.

Matuidi mind you has a bit of an odd role. Seems to float from out wide, to central quite a bit thanks to Hernandez and his ability to attack from the wings.

After typing this I'm realising you probably agree regarding the formation based off your first sentence.

Yes. But your wrong. Matuidi is a midfielder and its 4-3-3. Meself & Astra have made the same mistake you did calling it 4-2-3-1 ;)

So did just about every statistic site. All line ups I seen was 4231 and on tv it looked 4231.

The only thing I will say is mars probably hit the nail on the head when she said in defence and attack it is different formations but even still at that pogba was allowed freedom he just didn't use it at United after Christmas much.

Yeah Mars is correct in general but when watching France you can see that they have a rigid enough system and when not playing a quick counter attack and in possession they stay within their zones really.

Only training he's been doing was in a Photoshop course! :p

Ah don't do it to us, Luke! It's the hope that kills us! Would love to see him kick on, but been saying that for years, so seems unlikely at this stage.

He still looks nearly a stone over weight , People forget he not just some fat lad who's lost a some weight and looks decent now, he is a professional left back who should be covering huge amounts per game, he still oks very soft , Think of the games top full backs they don't have a pick of fat on them ,

People feeding in to criticising Luke Shaw on his holidays over some picture the Sun put out. Gas really. Most football fans complain about tabloids like them but in all honesty they get views and money from the same people who complain. I'm guilty too. Anyway, it's June. He's on his holidays. I couldn't care less what supposed "shape" he is in. If he comes back for the start of next season out of shape and lethargic then I will care.

I see papers now saying Luke Shaw wants to try earn a spot rather than moving this summer. Not sure if true or not, and depends what club wants too.

The way these things go, don't you just know he will show up fit as a fiddle before pre-season and spark off the debate again.
Regardless of his fitness he hasn't had a great relationship with José, so now depends if José really isn't a fan of his, or is doing so to try force a reaction, that will depend on how he responds so too.

Damn it feels good to be right ;)

I know I wasn't the only one drumming on about how the pre-season hadn't started yet when those photos emerged, but many seemed to think it was impossible for him to get in shape in time.

Maybe next time people will weight before criticising him.

The sad thing is their will be fans disappointed to see him in such good shape because it doesn’t fit into their narrative.

I hope he gets back to his best for us this season.

I think the majority hope he fills his potential, most are annoyed because he is out of favor ATM and those pictures from a few weeks back don't do him any good,

It is not that it is impossible, it is that (to some) it is an issue. Just as it was an issue, imo, that Rooney let himself go every summer - and admits that himself.

The best athletes will keep themselves in shape over the summer, better than Shaw did.

It was never that he couldn't get into shape, it was the general attitude to his fitness - which has been called into question many times over the last 3 years. Seeing a player that has fitness concerns, letting himself go (over whatever period), is annoying.

I don't think I've ever seen any problems with Shaw not been able cover ground? Maybe once or twice when he came back from injury but any time Shaw has been In the side regulary covering ground hasnt always been the issue its more to do with intelligence?

Maybe I'm wrong and will accept been corrected but I didn't think that was his main issue but saying that maybe it's the issue he isn't in the team in first place.

If we rock up to about 14 other clubs in the premiership next year with a 3 man central midfield, 2 of which are defensive I think my heart will break. Is Pogba unable to modify his game against Wolves or Cardiff at Old Trafford ? Its just a cop out on Pogbas part that he's somehow unable to cope in a 2 man midfield. Really annoys me that we have to build a midfield around what was the most expensive player in world football to get the best out of him.

You build around your stars. Real did it for Fonaldo, Barca does it for Messi. I have no problems building around. World class talent, as Pogba undoubtedly is.

My issue is when said talent then doesn't deliver on a Consistant basis. If a team is going to build around you cause of your talent, you had damn well better at leSt look like you are busting your gut trying....
