Reckon we will see McTominay head off on loan to a PL or equivalent club

Still think we're jumping the gun massively on McTominay yet. Haven't seen anything from him to suggest he'd be a capable first team player imo and we're being a little bit condescending if we think mid-table Premier League sides should be clamouring to get him on a loan deal.

Been a couple of days now I think. We were linked by one publication (saying we made a €45m bid) in Italy and all the bottom feeders like MEN, the sun, the express and the metro jumped on it. Nothing really from any of the credible Journos, don’t even think DiMarzio has mentioned it, and would presume he would have something or another on it especially if a bid was made

Fred, Dalot, Shaqiri (not signed but linked) and Fellaini signed up - we are looking to become West Ham? Feel like you could believe West Ham made those signings.

    Pre-Season will be fun :pac:

Matić, De Gea, Rojo probably miss first week or two of it.

Lukaku, Rashford, Fred, Fellaini, Pogba, Young, Jones & Lindelöf probably 3 - 4 weeks of it (depending on eliminations)

    You forgot Lingard :(

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

So we are writing off Fred and Dalot already before they even played, ignoring Fellaini just helped pull his team through a comeback into the quarter finals of the World Cup, and accepting the link to Shaqiri (despite you being the one who said you never believe random stories until they happen before) so we can be all negative about the window?

If Shaqiri comes to us, it would be as a rotantional squad player. He won't be to us though. Looks way more likely he is off to Pool. Who has linked him to us btw?

I'd honestly be shocked if Mourinho was interested in Shaqiri

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 43,004 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Liverpool are linked to him by virtue of the fact he is super cheap and would barely play for them.

But given the major weakness to his game is his work ethic, I don't think Jose would touch him with a base pole tbh.

Shaqiri is left footed and drifts infield. We have Mata for that. Pointless signing for us but makes good sense for Pool.

I don't see why premier league clubs would want McT when his role was so limited at United. They would have their own players to develop and would only want a player with low experience if they were a real stand out like TFM or Loftus-Cheek to Palace.

He ia a scottish international who played 23 times for utd last season and is still developing. There would be plenty of teams interested in him

Have high hopes for Fred. He looked decent in the champions league (my only exposure to him) and by the sounds of it has all the qualities we need in midfield.

Dalot is one for the future. A signing we used to do all the time. He may or may not work out but I'm happy to bring a highly rated talent on board.

Shaqiri is only a rumour and I seriously doubt we'll get him. Exactly the type of player we don't need. Inconsistent and at 26 hasn't set the league alight yet. He's a mid-table/upper mid-table signing. Grand for Liverpool, probably be back up to their front 3 I guess but we need a first team player of a much higher standard for our right hand side. Or at least someone with the potential to be that.

Just saying they sound like a summer window for West ham. Calm yourself, it's was a throwaway comment.

Dalot had barely even played for the club we bought him from in fairness, I wouldn't write him off but on the other hand I don't see how we can write him on either. He is a total punt in the dark where we needed a sure thing.

I think the comment was fair, I could indeed see alternate universe West Ham announcing those exact deals.

Looking like Ronaldo will actually end up at Juve. Reports saying he told madrid he wants to leave and join.juve and they have accepted his decision

I can understand the growing frustration from some parts, as it stands with our recruitment thus far we will finish 15+ points behind City again imo, and I don’t think we will keep Liverpool at bay either who have quietly strengthened their team considerably and look to have a solid spine now.

Sure things can change in the next month before the first game, but at this stage after 5 poor years I’ve learned to expect the worst case scenario.

I saw a story in the papers that Jose wants a CF and an attacking midfielder, and he is dead right if true, I would not be taking another punt on the ones we have as they absolutely let us down last season. People will say play Martial beside Lukaku, but he is fecking shít 9 times out of 10. I really wanted Sanchez to be the man but he is going full Di Maria on us. We need a Salah level performer and I don’t see it.

Same west ham who poached Tevez and Mascherano and who ended up giving us Rio.

great club, great eye for a signing ;)

R.Madrid will drive Ronaldo to Juve for that money.

    Pure bonkers

Juventus seems an odd destination for Ronaldo all the same. I'm sure he could bang goals in, especially seeing its a shadow of the league it was in the past, but it's definitely something nobody would have predicted.

Serie A is pretty ridiculous in terms of one team dominance. This will make the gap gigantic.

Why not? Assured of the Serie A every year and they usually go deep in the CL. He may be the catalyst for them to finally do it in the CL.

Do you think these fluffy soundbites change the fact that Pogba has horrendously underperformed for us in the main?

Barring the City game second half I cannot think of a single game where he showed any kind of real leadership for us.

Lukaku has shown more that Pogba has and he doesn't need his team mates to fellate him publicly.

Hope Pogba has a blinder today, France will need him to.

As I said before here, most French fans are in terms with the fact that he will drift in and out of games, while it frustrates some they seem to be in agreement that when he does turn it on he makes that team look a lot better than it actually is. Due to this they seem on board with constantly starting him.

The French are a gas group of supporters though. One minute they think they are the worst team in the world and the next the best.

He has had a very good tournament so far. Excellent in last game v Argentina

He's getting a lot of praise here after. His games against Peru and Argentina are the ones being discussed.

Seems to be a growing trend in the media where they are saying he has proved the doubters wrong so far and can continue to do so today. They also like above mentioned he's one of the leaders in the dressing room apparently and that he and Kante are forming a very good partnership.

Something they have been talking about is how they think he's changed his game a bit during the WC and stopped trying to overcomplicate things, just simplified it. I even saw an article where he was on their shortlist for player of the tournament for France.

But this may all depend on how today goes. If he has a good game and France get the win it continues to roll on. If they get dumped out it will be interesting to see the media change.

Think the biggest thing been discussed here is that he was playing in virtually the same role for France that he is asked to play for United and as you say he simplified his game and got on with it and is reaping the rewards and long may it last I'd love an inform pogba.

But similar to de gea making one or two mistakes with spain and us not been worried, pogba having a good world cup does not help us one bit unless he comes back and does it with United.
