    No it doesn't.

there is very little to indicate that it looks to be a done deal.

ONE source saying we have agreed a deal with him (same source saying we weren't interested in him at all a couple of weeks ago), which also states we have not agreed a fee with Juve - which is a HUGE step away from being a 'done deal'.

Mitch don't forget the person you responded to has "sources" in Turin.... so he knows more than all of us.. #delusions

I'd echo your sentiments though in reality agree a deal with a player (assuming we were allowed speak to them in the first place) is a long way from agreeing a deal with the club.

Did Castles say we weren't interested? My thought is he's the only one been pushing it right since the season ended.

Castles has been pushing this story last few weeks with no real updates, same story of the price/fee being the issue

    No need to be smart

Apologies if I missed it but didn't see any posts about Luke Shaw.

Him on his holidays attracted a lot of criticism and attention, people furious that he had let himself go enjoying his holidays rather than starting to put in an effort early and begin his training.

Then it emerges that he is in Dubai with our head of strength and conditioning Gary Walker training early one-to-one to prepare for the start of pre-season, and unless I missed it no real mention at all.

I know people will dismiss the relevance of it and use his perceived obesity as the base of their argument, but in reality he's doing exactly what many complained he wasn't a couple of days ago. Hopefully it's a sign of the work he will put in.

It was brought up that he wanted to stay and fight for his place rather than move on, I do think that people will dismiss it as they are fed up waiting on him to make his mark, even if he is putting in the work now, he still allowed himself to get into the position that he needs to do this..

I do say fair fecks to him for doing the one on one but also think it’s a too little too late situation especially with him only having a year left on his contract, waiting for him to come good could result in the club missing out on some cash

Or a sign United called him in a week early as he needs the head start?

    1. IMO he should be maintaining better fitness levels all summer.
    2. We have heard the same personal training early pre-season stuff the last few summers with him - I'll believe he is dedicated to winning a starting spot when I see it in his consistent approach. I'm in a "we've heard it all before" state with him at the moment.

Thought he said a couple of weeks back that we weren't looking at a left back (after signing Dalot).

Could have got him mixed up with other journos though. If so, sorry - but general point remains, Castles saying we've agreed personal terms (and being the only one saying it afaik) is a long way off it looking like a done deal. It looked like more of a done deal prior to the CL final, to be honest.

Castles said on his podcast that ye have agreed personal terms with Sandro. Best of luck to ye! Chelsea had agreed personal terms with him very early last summer and still couldn't get a deal done. Juve might be more willing to sell this season though as he very clearly had his head turned for the majority of last season, although his form did pick up.

What's everyone's gripe with using the phrase "looks like a done deal"?

One of the most used phrases when it comes to footballing transfers. Even giving a quick search on the Football Forum shows up thousands of results.

Hope everyone is as captious towards all the other posts where it is used.

Don’t think there is any problem with the phrase itself just the context it was used. Plus think only one person questioned it

Edit: just to add, when it’s used in the media most people as sceptical of it

My gripe with it was that it was used in relation to a deal that doesn't look anywhere close to being done.

Also (and to a different post) Fred looked a done deal a few weeks ago because it was. Contract signed, fee agreed, medical done, pictures done etc - just waiting for the work permit - no issue with that being called a done deal.

    With Sandro we have:

    Signed contract: No.
    Medical done: No.
    Fee agreed: No.
    Media pictures done: No.
    Interviews done: No.
    Work Permit applied for: No.

In what world does that look like a done deal?

    Because Twitter said so :)

BBC saying Juve have offered 88m for Ronnie

I always thought if he left Real, it would be to us. I KNOW we don't need him. But still... :(

Has to mean there's movement with Sandro then surely.

Rumours of Higuain to Chelsea, that would cover a good chunk of Ronaldo fee.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,333 ✭✭✭brinty

Is Ronaldo to Juve a real thing???
Surely at that price we just sign him and be done
Jersey sales in year one will recoup there

I got a cramp in my hamstring for the first time so that's just an excellent start to being 29.
