Have to say I think this looks incredible. BMW have been hit and miss a bit recently but they've certainly pulled out all the stops for their new coupe. Certainly pisses on Audi's generic design of late. Exterior design is just gorgeous, love the extension of the lines from the side vent. Replaces the 6 series and I'd imagine prices to be even more ridiculous than that model was. Interior is different to the recent and pretty dull 5/7 series design. Looks very modern and futuristic, although I wouldn't be mad on the glass auto lever. So what do you think folks?

glass auto level looks knackerish. And christ bmw..top the tank up..there's only 4km range left in it.
Wouldn't say no to one though:)

The rear of it looks over botoxed.

I've really gone off the whole VAG group lately, really feel they need to all become more adventurous. I just don't get why each manufacturer needs their entire range to look the same but different sizes.

Starts from 125k for the 840d x drive so probably 140+ for a bit of spec.
I like the looks and I’m sure it will be a great car. Will suffer the same horrendous depreciation of the 6 series though I expect.
The gran coupe version will be cracker too.

For performance the tesla/electric will keep alot away from the likes of this?I doubt it will be a big success.

First BMW in a few years I'm genuinely excited about. I always loved, and still love, the original E31. I like the fact that they're really trying to make this a modern interpretation of the 'Ultimate Driving Machine'; no fake exhaust noises being pumped through the cabin, a four wheel drive system that defaults to rear wheel drive and so on. I think it looks great and the combined kidney grilles is a throwback to older BMWs. Would need to be the M850i of course!

I presume in time they'll offer a smaller petrol engine and a plug in hybrid version, especially as it's the flagship of the range.

Its ok, its not radical like the i8. Its like their current models design language just turned up to 11.
I think it will be more impressive in the flash when you see how wide, and low it is.

the tesla only has straight line performance. Basically a one trick pony.
They're good but they're not a performance car.

At least you can drive the BMW on a wet day, electric cars aren't really suited to Ireland too many puddles.

Makes no sence, unless you generally drive into rivers?

Back of it reminds me of a Mazda 6. Still wouldn’t say no though.

    MAZDA-6---Atenza-Sedan-5350_35.jpg

Its an interesting area of the car market to be in for BMW as Audi don't have anything similar size and price. Mercedes would be the only other.
I wonder would certain buyers be between this and the i8? Those just looking for high end sports BMW.

Always like the the design of those Mazda 6.

The rear design is very similar. But will look different due to the stance, lower and wider of the 8.

    Probably because its quite generic.

Similar in that it has 2 tail lights ? I don't see any similarities at all.

Some will see it, some won't I guess.

The only semblence to the mazda are the long light clusters reaching around the flanks. You can do likewise with all cars in fairness.

In exterior styling I still think the Lexus LC500 is the best looking coupe in that price range. It also competes with Mercedes s class coupe.

Was recently in my first Tesla, the model S. Would be very pro Tesla and think they look great. However, inside was really cheap junk, really nasty, cheap looking plastics. I know that's not the main point of the car, but I don't see someone looking for a 140k luxury car being OK with the interior a Tesla (maybe I was in an older or lower spec model, I don't know)

Front and side have lots of curves and bulges, rear has lots of unnecessary creases and horizontal lines. Doesn't match up for me.

The new 8 looks good, I’d forget the diesel, the m850i is nice but less powerful than my m5! but is faster because of 4 wheel drive... the m8 will be the one to have but will be e200k approx, you’d want to have your head read to buy one new as there are better cars for that kind of money... after a few years of depreciation though🀔🀔

0-60 in 3.7 secs for the 850i....can't wait to see what the M8 brings.

Saw one in BMW Welt in Munich a few weeks back. I have to say, in the flesh its a nice piece of kit.

Is the M850i not the M8 though? Same as the M760Li is the M7.

Very different thing to the M235i which isn't an M car at all.

No, M8 is due later in 2019. Similar I suppose to the 550i and M5 previously.
