Now all it needs is the 1.9 PD TDI engine.

You can only have one mid life crisis :)

Which one is it, C or E? Choose wisely :)

Well it’s the coupe bit that makes it mid life crisis I don’t think the saloons/estate are at all.

I've got the C220, test drove the C200 as well. Different engines and to me anyway the C200 was a good bit smoother and less gruff than the C220 though now that I actually have the C220 once its properly warmed up its smooth as butter but on a quick spin around town its not like the C200 at all. As far as I know the C220 is an old enough engine compared to the C200 block.

I don't see the appeal of the E coupe at all, nice car and all but if i'm buying a coupe a 4 series or a5 would be my first port of call. Would much rather an E class saloon.

C220 is switching to the newer 2.0 as part of the upcoming facelift, but at present it uses the 2.1 that's been around for the last decade. It's very noisy in the W204 generation C-class anyway, even by four cylinder diesel standards it makes a right racket.

That time of the year again, ****ing council throwing spreading gravel on the local roads. What's the logic behind this other than gravel is cheap? I mean all it does is result in passing traffic just either throwing into the hard shoulder/verge or at traffic coming the other way resulting in stone chips or a cracked windscreen.

Just a kit car body on an XJ6 4.2 chassis. Looked like it was used on a track regularly enough which was nice to see for a change.

Browsing round the you tube, having a look on some car related channels and I come across this. From a chap in the states who salvages Teslas and rebuilds them, quite a good channel. Anyway, Tesla seems to be quite a shady company, all in all. Basically your shagged if the car is out of warranty and something goes wrong with it. And worse again if you've done anything yourself or at an independent dealer, Tesla wont touch it. Tesla control the parts chain, wont sell anything major to third parties or to individuals. Spurious parts are non-existent also.

Tesla won't tell you the service history of a car either. Imagine walking into a BMW dealer, buying one of their pre-approved used motors and being told diddly squat about the history of the cars, wouldn't you just walk away? Madness...

Yeah I've been following him a while and he's quite good. It is quite shocking some of the **** Tesla pull. Like the guy that rang up about a recall on a salvaged car, they said all grand, and then over the next few days he found a load of features of the car including Super Charging being disabled remotely by Tesla because they didn't want to support the car.

I see what you did there :)

Is this the same guy that built the 6k tesla himself using salvage parts?

I don't think that's going to fly somehow. You can't do that with Apple products and you won't be able to do so with Tesla either.

Yes, but there was other shady **** he is referring to. Like refusing to honour mandated recalls on cars unless you paid them 15k to certify your already certified salvaged car was up to their standards, which is illegal in the states at least. You also have the whole "Right To Repair" thing in the states that Tesla aren't honouring either.
I think it's complicated as several states have different right to repair laws and some have none.

It's like Bjorn's recent video regarding the backup camera breaking and it being covered under warranty prescribed by Norwegian law even though his car is out of warranty. Tesla tried to charge him for it, but when he complained it was covered under "goodwill" - I suppose to not set a precedent.

I'd say the pressure to keep costs down in that company is immense at the moment.

So as some of ye might already know, I bought a 330d touring last week and picked it up Saturday morning. I was working at the weekend so got to do the commute twice. Getting mid 40mpg, which I am delighted with having not had a car that did more than 30mpg for over three years. The power delivery is great too, cliche to say it but it's so true for these cars that there is just a wave of torque and making progress is just effortless. It's also nice to be back in the land of creature comforts. So far I'm delighted and see this car being here for the long-term. Tax and insurance is reasonable, as is mpg so it's all good.

    Happy out

Yup, I know a few lads who have convinced themselves a 2nd hand model S for €60/€70k is a great idea since the 0% BIK was introduced in the last budget.

Sure even on boards plenty will tell you they are essentially maintenance free compared to ICE :)

Wouldn't touch one....... I've made a few quid from Tesla shares so I've nothing against them to be fair but still.

Anybody know how much I should be looking for a Sony Xplod amplifier, 2 subwoofers and Clarion screen? Came with a car I bought but I have absolutely no interest in them.

Those are relics of the early 2000's. You should be targeting the VW Bora/Lexus Altezza market.

    Evening all,

Anyone recommend some decent screen wash to cope with the current late-evening/nightime midget infestations? I do mostly motorway driving and the front end of the car and particularly windscreen are destroyed with them the last few weeks :(
I've resorted to scrubbing it clean before setting off, but it's only lasting a day or two.

    Cheers!

Unless you wash the windscreen immediately after a bug is killed no wash will get rid of everything. The reason they are hard to remove is because when they dry out they stick and with the heat they stick even more.

An option to make the whole thing easier is if you use a product like Gtechniq G4 which makes cleaning a lot easier.

isopropyl alcohol is meant to be the business. Have been meaning to try it but I have big bottles of concentrate screen wash I'm working through first

IPA won't do much to remove bug splatter. in my experience! Claying would remove some of them as would blading the screen, that'll remove it all safely. But ideally as MM stated, seal up the windscreen with something to help the bugs not stick to it!

I agree, wash the screen often when driving. Stops things drying in and becoming a pain to clean off.

I use Ecover citrus degreaser in the washer bottle during this warm weather. It works really well, the car sometimes lives under a tree where it gets covered in sap. A few capfuls into the washer bottle and it cleans the screen really well. As it's cheap, couple of pound a bottle, it lasts ages so you don't have to be stingy about using the screen wash.

I'll swap it for a proper one that wont freeze over in the winter.

I'm not so sure that would be great for the wiper blades even when diluted down.

Most rubbers provide satisfactory to fair chemical resistance compatability to IPA in an elastomer or O ring seal (valve diaphragms would be inlcuded in the elastomer seal category) situation , with a wiper blade and diluted IPA you're looking at no problem whatsoever. An icy screen would do more damage :)

Are scrap prices getting strong? Brought 4 alloys and a battery in and got €50 into my paw. Thought I'd see a tenner for the lot, not a tenner a pop.
