Wish Peter Devlin had a midweek day time show all the time. Was better than Pat while he was on holiday and is a million times better than Morty.

I actually tuned into his show on Saturday for a bit as I had to collect a couple of friends from Heuston and they all enjoyed the music on the drive home.

Not just the music, he has a good voice for radio..calming and knowledgeable....PC and Morty are like Coke'd up kids.....

I've pretty much abandoned nova in the mornings now. The only time I listen to it is when I'm channel hopping, and there's a decent song playing. Then the banal twats starts gabbling, and I'm off elsewhere.

Was listening this lunchtime and every song for the 45 minutes was excellent. The acid test - not once did I think this song doesn't belong on Nova.

Should have written them all down but included Hammer to Fall by Queen and Sunday Girl by Blondie. Keep it up!

Heard Hammer this afternoon and was shocked. I can't remember if I've ever heard it on Nova before. Dunno why it's not played more - it's one of their classics. But maybe it's a bit too rocky for Nova daytime.....

What alternatives are there in the morning around Dublin that I can tune to on a standard car radio? I've wound up with 4 fm as the least bad option, with sporadic hops to Dublin City FM for traffic updates. Live drive plays some decent songs, but then you have the traffic reports in between.

Queen have better songs than Hammer to fall that's why it's on very low rotation on most radio stations

It's been played regularly enough on Nova in fairness

Newstalk was depressing yesterday morning preaching about units of alcohol so i turned nova on and trex jeepster was on. was having that! and then the sh**e talk started with them two! heard a few decent tunes on it lately. hopefully their new direction showed a dip in ratings so they might revert to what got them listeners in the first place!

Do you think nova are aware of the threads on here, and how badly their change is being slated?
    Do you think they care?

Nova became my standard channel since before they properly went on air. I was listening to their test broadcast. I've now abandoned them in the morning. The change there makes no sense. The morning show is completely different in style to the other slots. The current listeners are going to abandon them over the morning show, and anyone who likes the morning show is unlikely to stay tuned to the other shows, which means they lose both sets of listeners.

In relation to their music policy - I think I heard a Scritti Polliti song played yesterday.... certainly sounded like Green Gartside singing.

As for Colm & Lucy.... not my cup of tea but they are two names that will probably attract advertisers...

The morning show might have needed a profile boost and two known names will do it.

Remember, the majority of listeners don't care who is on or what they're wittering on about.

Wood Beez is frequently played on the station.

There's no way in hell you've actually heard the breakfast show?? You're being very kind

I don't ordinarily care who's on. I do care what they're wittering on when they waffle as much as these 2. Their chatter is just banal drivel. These 2 are driving away the existing audience. Listen to the show next time you're feeling masochistic.

Another nail in the coffin of the Nova classic rock era. After next Sunday, Pat James' show is going to be broadcast on digital only. In other words, you can only listen to it on VM, computer or app.

Prob be either Ruth Scott or that "robot" night DJ. Won't be long till there's a dance show like 2FM.

It's getting like the 60s/70s where the "special" children (proper music fans) were moved away from the normal school children so as not to interfere with them

Does that mean we might hear PJ's shows on 8radio or Zenith...or both.....it was only a matter of time before they started fcuking with Pats show....they dont like the minions being more popular than the main attraction...Maybe we shouldnt praise the likes of Pat, Peter etc....now its backfiring on us..

I heard Pat James mention that last night. Very sad news but he seemed quite sanguine about it. One less reason for me to listen to Nova now, only John Clarke left.

Colm Hayes’ Twitter bio states Programme Director Radio Nova 100. Is he behind this?

    Disaster losing Pat James ☹️

yes yes he is. He will probably start giving himself more and more airtime now.

Disgusted PJ is gone - loved his shows. Can't stand Morty, Hayes and Kennedy either. I hope they don't axe GG, JC or PD next...

Disgraceful. Its becoming another 2FM copy
