The Express claim that Chelsea and Spurs want Martial. The Spurs thing has been doing the rounds for a while.
The Mirror say that United have put a £75 million valuation on him.

If spurs want any united player I hope united troll them with ridiculous demands...

£131mil plus Kane and we have a deal.

Yeah, given how Spurs have reacted when we tried to get Toby, I'd be sticking two fingers up at them unless they pay way, way over the odds.

Also yesterday Kasper beat his dads record of minutes without conceding for Denmark yesterday.

Kasper was fantastic yesterday. I was in pub watching but he really looked to pull off some good saves.

Nani is 31!!! God, I thought he must be in mid to late 30s to not make the Portuguese squad!!!

Was there ever united player more capable of having you tear your hear out?

That 5-4 defeat to Chelsea in the league cup summed him up. Sublime at Times and absolutely awful liability at others.

You described him better than i could of

Pogba lost his goal far as I heard on ITV while ago.

    Fairly obvious.

Adem Ljajic playing for Serbia now, a name I'd almost forgotten. Still interested to see how he does today, and I must do some googling during the game to see where he's been.

    Saw rumours about Martial.

Papers print any old garbage so not taking it as fact but many stating we will be asking for around £75million, as PSG and Madrid are both interested in him.
Would like that to be true, would be very nice to be on the other side of some extortion for a change.

Savic having decent game here for Serbia. Seems very tidy on ball likes to get stuck in.

Can see certain similaritys to Pogba but he seems more likely to knuckle down and work for the team.

    Bit unrelated to Evra haha!

And yes, FIFA took the goal off Pogba and counted it as an OG.
I saw Mourinho saying before it shouldn't be given to Pogba, was a bit surprised Mourinho has been working with Russia Today for the WC.

I now it's a little thing and not a big deal but just something I'm never that pushed on, when a manager with a job does analysis. Especially with a position like United's everything he says regarding United players or possible transfers will be blown out of proportion and draw more to the media circus. Still, bit of cash in hand for Jose!

He's getting a whopper pay cheque for doing so, isn't he?

May be a bit too soon to be making that comparison after a half of football, you could end up watching Pogba have an outstanding 45 minutes and in isolation assume he would dominate every game :pac:

Savic however is a brilliant player. Has been one of Lazio's top players last season. But then again Pogba was outstanding at Juventus and that hasn't translated as we wanted to United.

Don't really have problem with Jose doing the world cup. Some top managers do it I know Fergie didn't but wengner always did it and van gaal did it .

I don't think pogba was that outstanding at juventus. He did what he pretty much does for us now he has outstanding games and the follows it's up with a poor game.

The difference is back then it was put down to him been so young and he didn't have a price tag to live up to it.

    Was he really though ?

In the past year if read other posters who follow that league more carefully state that Pirlo & Vidal/Marchisio dominated the midfield with Pogba drifting in and out of games with the odd moment of magic sprinkled on top.

I thought that was well known to be honest, that at the time one of the big risks with Pogba was knowing how good he really was and how much he was being made to look good by Pirlo and Vidal.

I thought the expectation was that at 23 years old he was in place to make the step up from being raw and needing support, to being the complete midfielder that would underpin a top team.

Personally I think we already have the answer to that.

Don't mean this as disrespectful, but hindsight is a beautiful thing. It's easier now after a difficult two years with us to sit back and say nobody thought he was that great with Juventus and only showed some potential. I remember at the time of signing him most critics or sceptics were more or less shot down, pointing to his departure and Ferguson's comments as the main source of their concern or disapproval.

Despite concerns being raised by a lot (myself included) about the difference in quality of the supporting cast in Juventus compared to here, to say that the majority of people did not view Pogba of being outstanding during his time at Juventus I would deem as false.

Before joining us he was named in the Serie A team of the season for 3 consecutive seasons. He was a key part of that dominating Juventus side and was acknowledged for his performances by both official awards and public opinion.

I'll speak for myself and say I had huge reservations based on his performances for France at the Euro's, small sample size that it was.

    What hindsight?

Does the point not hold true today? Where would Pogba actually play for us?
And my point still stands. He's only 22 and yes he's inconsistent, you expect that at his age but he would dominate our CM for years to come.

Totally agree mate that's fair point but if you compare his statistics at juventus to us there isn't much difference he has probably improved statistically.

For what it's worth I love pogba I think he can be a genius player but there is something there mentally holding him back. Its not his ability that's holding him back Its just his application or something.

I really hope he can have a good world cup and to push on next year he should be really entering his prime years now.

I get the reservations, some people had them, but I don't get people spinning it to make out that overall we didn't rate him at being outstanding at the time and more so looked at him as a potentially great player.

I went back there to thread when the signing was announced. It's gas really. Posts about how happy people are and how we bagged one of the best midfielders in the world. The overall feeling of the impact he would make. Some people who now claim they didn't really rate him back then were fawning over him haha!

Most of my concerns were admittedly fueled by a combination of his price tag and history with us.

I agree something's holding him back and hope he can push on, something he may not want but I don't fully agree with downplaying his time at Juventus.

Didn't want to do it to ya Jayo but when we did sign him I noticed a comment by you :pac:

I'm delighted with the contract 6 years is a basically covering one of the best midfielders in the world up to the age of 29 it insures our investment that if some does try come in for him and he is living up to expectations we will get a new record fee for him.

You did mention cashing in on him if it comes the time, so we can look at the statistics if we want but truth be told majority of people, even those who had reservations rated him highly due to his Juventus performances. I'd wager there are posts of myself fawning over him too.

Just think it's easy now to say we didn't really view his time at Juventus as brilliant and expect him to make a huge impact.

There is a load of context to take that comment as and yeah it probably dies make it look like I've gone 360 but I wasn't trying to say he wasn't good for juventus he was inconsistent for them same as he is for us now. With juventus he was only the inconsistency was forgiven because of his age and he was one of the best in the world for his age.

If you had if asked me before January this year I was fully happy with pogba I thought when he was out if the team we were no where near as good and just expected him to keep improving.

Like I said there just seems to be something there that's holding him back and it's the same with France so I don't think it's relationship with his managers.

I don't think that is what anybody actually said.

You can look at a great prospect and believe that as a prospect he has done brilliantly, but still have concerns about whether he can recreate that in a different environment or if he can take the next step. If he can go from prospect doing well to world class senior player doing well.

You could state that Pogba done brilliantly as a young player for a huge club like Juventus, but also wonder how much of it was due to his support and question if he can move to another level again. They are not mutually exclusive.
