He could have done better but there was nothing about pace involved in his role. His man was Foley. Sexton was lined up against Beale and Stander was the cover.

Leavy couldn't react with enough agility to take Beale (it was a lovely line though), Sexton was completely taken out of the picture and Stander was too slow across.

Yeah stander had to take the inside man, leavy was drifting out.

On the last phase of play out s excellent that our younger lads were the ones making the impact tackles.

First porter, then ringrose, then carbery...

    Great to see

    The ref rode us.

2 deliberate knock ons from Oz. Nothing.
Deliberate knock on from McGrath. Yellow without hesitation.

Multiple penalties on their own line. No penalties.

    It's getting a bit much.

Similar weird decisions in the last 10 minutes last week too.

Just when I thought everyone had moved on to discussing the players.

I wouldn't say superb he flew out of the blocks and then didn't do much for the majority of his caps. In my opinion of course.

Became his country's most capped player, went to three World Cups and was picked for two Lions tours.

    Tough crowd.

    We have.
But you'll always have the odd straggler!

I thought the kicking from Australia was poor today compared to last week.
Folau only got to compete for 1 ball that I can remember.
A lot of high balls were pretty easily gathered by Kearney/Earls/Murray.
They might try to right that next week.

For the record, I don't think that the ref was biased, he was just poor.

Yes you are right. Bad choice of words on my part in the heat of the moment. I didnt mean to suggest that he was deliberately favouring Oz, just that he was weak and inconsistent in that regard.

In fairness YR, a forum like this which allows fans to vent is a vital public service. It has absolutely saved my TV from a severe battering during and after the match. Not to mention saving me a few hundred quid to replace it :o

My father's day present was the wife taking the kids away for the weekend. I've been in a state of undress with a beer next to me since 11am watching rugby and football. Showering may occur at some stage but, frankly, it's not looking likely.

Ref was poor today but I agree that the two deliberate knocks were very different, and the call to bin Jack was correct.

Dunno why there's so much negativity. We've played 30/31 of our squad, and sit 1-1 with the WC finalists in a series on their turf.

I'm off to find some breakfast tacos before SA hopefully slap the piss out of England.

I knew I always liked you. I would say I'd join you but that would ruin your solitude. And mine. My missus is away for the week. Popped to the shops between matches so I'm about to crack my first beer. Shower will take place tomorrow. Maybe.

    Cheers.

I haven't seen any matches yet. But I've been to a play, gone typewriter shopping and am about to watch a light saber duel so there's that.

Heaven.....my wife left this morning at 8 and I have a 1,3 and 5 year old to amuse all day :mad::mad::mad:

6 years ago I would have done exactly what you are doing....shower day was Sunday.....circa now would have been Domino time....order massive and cold pizza for evening:p

I'm being dragged off to the cinema FFS.
Should make it back for the Welsh game. She's driving though, the cinema has a bar.

Have beer in the fridge but not worth it until the kids are gone to bed. Got to watch a good bit of rugby tho so no complaints.

This game is pure entertainment. Would love to see if Maro gave a shin cracker there...

Hopefully Conway will be good to play next week. I'd like to see him given a start at FB. No knock on RK, who was very good today I thought.

With POMs performance today, a backrow of 6. POM, 7. Leavy 8. Conan would be another combo that would be worth exploring.

Don't think Leavy will be back for next week. Sternum injury.

Nobody mentioning the elephant in the room?

Handsome Rob passed the ball more in this game than in his entire career as an international.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

He reads this forum and can’t bare the thought of connachta not liking him so he’s changed his style of play

Much much better from Ireland. Dominating possession and territory combined with excellent defense nullified Australia. We deserved to win by more.

(I am not mentioned that annoying useless ref who seemed anxious to blow his whsitle at every ruck).

I agree with an earlier poster who wrote that we need to become more effective at converting posession into tries. Still a bit one dimensional in attack.

When Australia tried to score in the last few minutes they swept up the pitch, making up ground quickly and effectively - gaining sixty metres or more in a couple of minutes. We dont seem to be able to do that.

We trudge up slowly, going through phase after phase - and generally eventually rely on kicking to gain any significant territory.

Maybe it's just Joe's conservative approach?

Would be good to see Conway in there as FB. Think he might have made it in there today if we had won the first game and if Stockdale was in the squad.

In a meaningful game with Kearney fit?
