For example the "people should not give propaganda and advice to children about non-traditional sexual relations" - what is wrong with that?
So you're homophobic? Explains the hate.

This isnt about donating money to charity its about getting positive attention and public approval.

The amount of money betting company's make do you think they give a **** about handing over 50k to a random charity especially this type?

What bothers me about this and why i laughed at it when i seen it online yesterday was because this is exactly what scores points with so many people now a days. Everyone knows well what goes on in Russia and these other country's towards certain groups of people.

So it comes across as this great amazing forward thinking gesture by Paddy Power against the evil gay hating Russia...

If i was trying to win a popularity contest or a vote these days sure all id have to do is mention or side with one of these LGBT bla bla groups or something feminine orientated in general and certain people would lap it up.

    Its that easy.

    But sure anyway....

I'm boycotting Paddy Power due to them donating of €10,000 for each goal scored by Russia to "LGBTQ rights".

It's just such a bad move, and in such bad faith.

Keep football out of politics. I'm well aware of the claims made by a lot of western media about Russia discriminating against LGBTQ groups. But on further investigation, in my opinion, they're not warranted. For example the "people should not give propaganda and advice to children about non-traditional sexual relations" - what is wrong with that?.

Some of the kids being gay fer one. Teaching other kids to be tolerant of them for another.

I think a lot of these LGBTQ groups are more like hate groups these days and would not support that. Maybe some of them do some good and actually help LGBTQ groups in some ways, however a lot of the time they are trying to push for things beyond that.

    Such as?

...Otherwise LGBTQ persons are treated well there and are not persecuted

Well, you're obviously an expert on the matter so that's me convinced

Give any example that would not also happen in the US or UK.

Being offered jobs to prove "diversification" and being harder to fire is one of the things people like that are trying to get. Celebrating their sexuality... why can't I obscenely celebrate my heterosexuality in public? And so on.

That's a brilliant idea. €10,000 could do a lot of good. I didn't know they were doing this. I haven't used my Paddy Power account in ages but I might log in now and give them custom. Thanks for letting me know, OP.

Russia won 5-0 today. €50,000 in the kitty. That's great!

This is why it's so wrong even without a political motive.

What about the poor defenders and goalkeepers whose sole job is to keep out goals? Are they going to be responsible if some kids aren't fed? A similar situation for those defending against Russia. It's so ill thought out.

So what if Paddy Power want to donate towards what I consider to be a good cause, fighting against homophobic hatred in Putin’s intolerant, corrupt Russia?

OP - If you don’t like what PP are doing, then just don’t bet with them. Simples. Just get with another bookies if it bothers you that much. Likewise, no one is forcing you to participate in a gay pride event. Grow up.

Stench of homophobia from the OP is very obvious...

I could be wrong but I don't think the US or UK state authorities round up and imprison gay men in concentration camps?

Give any example that would not also happen in the US or UK.

Gay people in the UK and the US can get married and have it legally recognised. In Russia, not even civil partnership is recognised.

There is no legal barrier to kids being educated about tolerance towards the LGBT community in the UK or US. In Russia, there is a nationwide blanket ban on education about anything pertaining to the LGBT community to minors.

In Chechnya, with full support of Vladimir Putin - Ramzan Kadyrov is leading mass crackdowns on the LGBT community, leading to abductions, beatings and murders.

The list is endless and you're out of your mind if you don't see there is huge issues with gay rights in Russia.

You know one of the biggest disadvantages of posting online is that when someone says something so knowingly stupid and so knowingly wrong that you can't blow them out of it. So you get people that will make posts like this.

What odds would PP give on the OP being one of the 37.9% of the voting electorate against SSM in 2015?

Probably wouldn't be worth putting money on it.

Who would have thought person who is ok with beating gay people is against them being treated equally.

What he said is a documented fact and happens in Chechnya on a regular basis. And you're not blowing anyone out of anything. You're one of these people who blows hot air but isn't actually educated about anything.

They should probably direct the money towards gamblers charities who help the people who destroy their lives using paddy powers services.

Some things are so bad that the "all publicity is good publicity" saying doesn't hold. It also wasn't some last minute idea that seemed good the night before, they apparently had multiple meetings over it. It's baffling how they gave the go-ahead to it.

They have gay employees. People just like their gay employees (and just like me) are simply vanishing, and some of them are turning up murdered, some never show up.
The police in Russia be look the other way of someone like me is murdered or beaten into a coma.

Fair play to Paddy Power for calling them out, and I hope their decision to "use" Russia's atrocious human rights record to make money and a statement about hate at the same time.

Gay people in the UK and the US can get married and have it legally recognised. In Russia, not even civil partnership is recognised.

Because people don't accept gay marriage in Russia. That's not discrimination, they just believe that it's not something society should bless and uphold the status of. Being against gay marriage is not the same as "discriminating against gay people" and you're dumb if you can't see the difference.
There is no legal barrier to kids being educated about tolerance towards the LGBT community in the UK or US. In Russia, there is a nationwide blanket ban on education about anything pertaining to the LGBT community to minors.

That's because it's thought they're too young to understand such things.
n Chechnya, with full support of Vladimir Putin - Ramzan Kadyrov is leading mass crackdowns on the LGBT community, leading to abductions, beatings and murders.

Those are not the policy of Russia, Russia can't control everything some terrorists in their nation do. You have to give the benefit of the doubt here that here that Russia is trying to get along with this extremely unstable region and try to curtail its history of terrorism.
    The list is endless

Yet you haven't been able to show a single one convincingly.

Ah yes... nothing like the old "people that disappear" story about Russians to strike fear into people that would dare defend them. People do not disappear in Russia at rates significantly larger than in any other similar nation, that's nonsense.
    Heebie wrote: »

They do not. They investigate and track down all such murders. There's no accounting for if a lead detective is homophobic and decides to close the case sooner on an unsolved murder of a gay person, that can happen in any country.

OP is an obvious troll, but as a bi guy I see this move by Paddy Power as a 'pinkwashing' stunt. It's good if money goes to LGBT charities on one level, but at the same time bookmakers leech off the misery of others, particularly those with addictive personalities. A move like this doesn't erase the damage they do to society IMO.

The only reason the world cup is in Russia is due to politics (and heaploads of corruption), similar with the slavery built world cup in Qatar that's next.

Asking a betting company to stay out of it is a big bit disingenuous.

But the OP either really wants to live in Russia, or is a Putinbot, in which case, it's time to break the bots.

It's the principle of it, and the arrogance of Paddy Power to think they know best.

Presumably you'll be following the same line of thought on subjects and your own opinions? So this is the last we'll be hearing from you ? Would want you being arrogant and thinking you know best about something.

    I. For example the "people should not give propaganda and advice to children about non-traditional sexual relations" - what is wrong with that? .

Maybe we could send the kids to some form of "conversion therapy " camp or something.the church could organise it. Pray away the gay and whatnot.
