    Carbery confirmed for Munster.
Best out of Ireland tour. Think this could be a blessing and let him have a summer to re-coup.

Ulster will probably sign Bleyendaal now
Rumour is he is set to retire.

Interesting to read Schmidt’s comments on Ulster’s situation.

“The guys up in Ulster and David Nucifora will put their heads together and see whether there will be any domino effect or whether somebody will come in from outside and help Johnny McPhillips, who had a really strong end to the year”

I suppose it makes Keatley more likely but the mere fact any new 10 is being discussed with McPhillips’ development as a priority shows us where the IRFU’s thinking on Ulsters 10 situation re incoming players and that McPhillips has rightly caught Schmidts eye.

I wonder if Joe has had a word with McPhillips. I hope he is our first choice 10 next season. I also hope fans are patient with him because its inevitable that he will have the odd poor game.

Between #sausages# and some posters on uafc it appears Ulster have secured someone (whether a coach or a player) good.

I reckon ye lads are about to announce the signing of Keatley on a two year deal.

ARRANGE THIS IN TO A WELL KNOWN PHRASE OR SAYING....FOFF:D:D

Actually, I don't agree with the majority of the animus aimed at him. He is a pretty good guy.

    As in Bannbridge coach?

It’s hard to follow on UAFC. Get the impression an assistant coach is on the way. Then one reliable source stating one of two wanted signings has been secured! They seemed pleased with what they heard. Sausages did earlier.

I really could see lealiifano returning.

Not much of a “capture” to sign an AIL coach, albeit a highly regarded one.

That's what I thought. My money is on Leali'Ifano to sign longterm and cover 10/12 with our new assistant coach a retired outhalf to guide/mentor our young guys as well as skills. Name that pops to mind is Dan Parks and would of worked with McFarland. that's a lot of assuming, but researching connections as we speak.

heard from a reliable source? surely with the **** ups with coaching tickets recently they wouldn't bring in someone without similar level of experience?

I just can't see? event the way peeps talking on UAFC leads me to think we have an outhalf coming as a coach.

He is someone I'd like to see involved.

I'd be happy with him involved, but I think there must be a player signing as well.

We might see Hume and Lowry fastrracked given their connections to Soper at club and schools level.

When you put it like that, I can see the logic. UAFC also saying the Coach has been sanctioned by McFarland.
The word was 1 coach, 2 players with only 1 player secured so far.

Finnegan, O'donnell and Reid joining the Ulster sub-academy next season. 3 players more than good enough to be in France, Reid went on a sabbatical, Finnegan in NZ.
    • Reid was a promising loosehead who decided to stop playing I think?
    • O'Donnel is/was are most talented scrum half of last few years. If i'm right he tore up the schools cup.
Are yet to be announced coach has helped to get them back involved I believe?

Reid in particular was a serious talent at school. Getting him to commit to rugby could be a huge boost. Remember there also the U18 captain (John McKee?) who is also a very highly rated LH.

It may take a few years to get there but the building blocks are increasingly being set in place for the future. We just ha e to accept that next season will be a bit of a grind. It potentially all hinges on the fitness of Coetzee.

This hope Reid/O’donnel Take the sub academy serious and their opportunity to get in the door!

Definitely promise appearing now, if they all stick around and progress Ulster will be ina good place 3-5 years!

Just hard to keep the mob/fans at bay and have realistic expectations! A fit Coetzee could seriously lift the team!

The goal for this season coming needs to be a league semi final. The standard of the league is not that high so this is definitely a realistic goal.

Europe is going to be very tough as a fourth seed unless we get lucky in the draw.

What are the pools for next season? That surely will have a big impact on Ulster's chances. Regardless of the overall quality of the league, to get to a semi final you really need to be finishing in the top 2. Getting ahead of the Scarlets, Leinster, Glasgow or Munster would be a big leap forward.

The draw for the pools isn't until the 20th.

But Ulster are in the fourth pot, which means there are some horrific draws possible.

They haven't been drawn yet afaik. Still waiting for the winner of the Top 14 to be decided.
