150 people will be employed there. Surrounding businesses got free cupcakes today and money off vouchers with an intro letter from the Manager. A nice touch.

    Keep them sweet!

So I was in Tesco Liffey Valley today. What a store and it's great that it is there now too. I only got to see a little bit of it today as I was in a hurry but I will certainly be going to have a look around again when I have more time.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I had a great wander round.

Got samples of apple tart, cheese, bread and chili oil, black and white pudding(in that order) and then went back fir seconds.

Was so stuffed that ate no lunch.

Had a walk around too. Massive queue of cars to get in so I just parked in B&Q and walked over.

    Mobbed. And this was 7:30pm.

Great shop. Will definitely do a big shop soon. :-)

The small shops in the area.

The small shops in the area.

Gotcha...I think they were doing office building drops rather than shops.

Asked on twitter, unfortunately there are no plans for click and collect. Which is a huge shame.

Three Tesco stores in the area and not one offering it.

Someone pressed the emergency stop button on the down escalator yesterday evening. You can't push the trolleys once they're on it so I can see this becoming a little hobby for the local bored scrotes.

A colleague was in last night and said there were alarms going off all over the place.

Was in at lunch time and there was some kind of alarm going off as well....maybe it was this again.

It would be a pity to see the skanger element ruining this for everyone.

Irish Times saying it will be the largest Tesco in Ireland.

The Irish Times got that completely wrong  I was in there today and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the shop. It is just right. Far smaller than the ridiculously massive one in Maynooth.

Nice shop and a great addition to Lucan. Was also pleasantly surprised that Tesco have moved with the times and they have installed two EV chargers (free to use) and a clever allocation of 3 EV parking spaces. When I was there some imbecile in a diesel car had taken one of the clearly EV marked places though. Should be clamped.

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

I thought the same about the size.

It’s not Lucan though, it’s Clondalkin.

I think you'll find Liffey Valley and that Tesco are in Clondalkin ;)

I'd say this could mean the end for Tesco in Clondalkin Village or they may downgrade it to a metro either wouldn't he bad because that Tesco is horrendous.

It’s not a nice Tesco though the staff are nice.

Wold be sad in a way to see it go, remember it through it’s various guises from Powers Supermarket when I was 3.(some 40 odd years ago)

Aye, originally it would have been Clondalkin. My own house is in Lucan, county Dublin. It would have been in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 if it wasn't for that corrupt politican, Liam Lawlor, extremely rich from extortion and brown envelopes. Mr Big they called him inside and outside of FF. Karma killed him off. His family is now even richer than he ever was after selling off his land that he paid for with corrupt money at Somerton, Lucan. Scumbags the lot of them. Shame on them for ever.

Liam Lawlor did do a lot of rezoning and was as corrupt as they come.

But it's a misconception that Liffey Valley is now Lucan even the official website has it's address down as Clondalkin.

Even Liam Lawlor wasn't that much of a genie to have that land rezoned when it's surrounded by areas called Clondalkin on all sides bar the n4 :)

I was going to slag you and say unless you were Liam Lawlor!

I hope it takes some business away from Supervalu Lucan. Such a disaster of a shop since they changed the name/layout/manager/staff.

A couple of years ago I'd have agreed with you but SV Lucan has tightened up in the last while in my opinion and some of the staff are lovely.
I was in the new Tesco yesterday. Weird mayor and not particularly easy to navigate. Stock seems to be in different aisles to where you'd expect it to be and it certainly isn't in any way a similar layout to Maynooth and Banbridge, both if which I'd frequent regularly.

Agreed Heroditas. They have better offers than they had in the past and that alone makes me go there far more regularly. It is also the quickest supermarket for me to get to, parking is easy and I frequent several of the other units there too.

Supervalu Lucan fruit and veg though can be quite poor in quality.

Just on value, it seems hard to beat the dunnes 10 euro off after spending 50 dunnes run at the moment. We spend the 150 once a week and get it for 120. Are prices in dunnes in line with everywhere else or higher to make up for the vouchers?

Get there last thing at night when they're stocking up for the next day ;)

Just shop in Aldi or Lidl. Quality just as good. And your 120 bill will drop to 70.

I do agree, SuperValu has stepped it up lately. Took them awhile but their Small Irish brands are great, something Tesco doesn't support.

I love the Asian store in Fonthill though for its spices and curry powders, no supermarket can match them on it.

The problem with going there is my wife buys specials we don't need and we end up spending the same
