    Any petrol station?

I'm fairly sure there will be. It's a Tesco Extra. I should be around there over the weekend. I'll have a look to see if there are any more signs up.
I think petrol station might be next to b and q but hasn't been started yet maybe later in the year?

Store outfitter (in passing) tells me there are just a few snags to be ironed out - and that it will be great/lovely.

Will be a nightmare with the traffic for anyone working at LV

No petrol station at the moment. Well not that I could see. There's still space for future development.

There's a Costa and Holland and Barrett opening there too. Can't remember the other shops on the sign.

Holland and Barrett already have a shop in the shopping centre. It Seems strange they will open there too. Must think there will be enough of a demand to be there as well.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I would not be surprised if they moved from the Centre itself.

Lot of places struggling with rent there.

Have heard there s a few big stores ready to pull out.

"heard" - can you provide the source and why that source would have that valid information?

Any shopping destination with over 100 stores will naturally have closures/transfers. Mostly its a general trading issue with that company and several stores are closed.

I'm in the retail sphere and I have not heard anything about closures in Liffey Valley, but there are three smallish units that are "open to discussions" on transferring a lease and the reasons have nothing to do with Liffey Valley

Nope, won’t be doing that as it’s a family member and their employment unfortunately who will be impacted so time will tell.

And have not, as yet, closed their standalone store in the town.

All their leases are ending (20 years from 1998). Evans are closing most their stores.

A lot of UK retailers are experiencing severe problems and reducing number of shops and this will naturally affect some stores here.

Pity they didn't/couldn't renew their leases, it will leave that side very empty with the 6 units in a row closed. Although maybe finally Zara will open there!

Some of those stores are just tired. Burton and Dorothy Perkins in particular do not resonate with the public.

You can be fairly certain they have new stores lined up. With shopping centres, they always want to get the mix right The stores may be empty for a few weeks as most stores will wait til the autumn collections are in before opening. So at a guess, I'd say you'll see new tenants around August

Sign-truck parked at the big church there in Ballyfermot advertising the opening.

I wonder (hope) will it will take the custom away from the Tesco there. It's a feckin' kip.

Wallis is part of that group that's staying, the only one I think.

I saw a therapie clinic place with a stand in the middle of the centre saying they are taking a unit. I asked which one and she was not sure. Might be one of them.

Was in the square today and saw one there too. Bringing bothx to the masses.

Will call into Tesco tomorrow for a nosey.

The other shops aren't anything to be too excited about. Vision Express and The Grafton Barbers.

Think I'll head in tomorrow evening for a look.

Irish Times saying it will be the largest Tesco in Ireland. If it's bigger than the Tesco Extra in Maynooth, it must be massive altogether!  See article below.  No petrol station it seems but Vision Express, Costa Coffee, Tesco Mobile, Holland & Barrett and other retail units will be part of the development as well as the F&F clothing range.

UK supermarket giant Tesco opened its largest store in Ireland today, the 60,000 square foot Liffey Valley Tesco .
The new €30 million store will create up to 175 jobs, and will feature retail units including Tesco Mobile, Vision Express, Costa Coffee, Holland & Barrett and more.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/business/retail-and-services/tesco-opens-largest-store-in-ireland-in-liffey-valley-1.3511059
Tesco Ireland CEO, Andrew Yaxley, said: “This new environmentally-friendly flagship store will boast an extensive range of fresh food, groceries, beers, wines and spirits as well as an exciting range of F&F clothing, toys and home-wares. Providing a totally new and enhanced type of shopping experience for customers in the area, we look forward to working with local suppliers and becoming a strong and vibrant part of the community.”
The new environmentally-friendly Liffey Valley store is a highly carbon-efficient design which includes in-built energy-saving measures, advanced lighting, heating and cooling systems and waste recycling facilities.

Saw the Times saying that alright. RTÉ said the largest in 8 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,100 ✭✭✭DopeTech

Indo said Tesco maynooth was 116sq ft

Its the largest in 8 years - very much a PR company statement hoping that some media won't read it fully and scream "biggest tesco in ireland" giving more headlines - and that's what has happened.

Both Naas & maynooth are over 100,000sq ft, though much space is given to non grocery items

Largest in Ireland would be Naas it looks about the same size as that one

150 people will be employed there. Surrounding businesses got free cupcakes today and money off vouchers with an intro letter from the Manager. A nice touch.
