Usually 1-2 a year only when I am absolutely sure that clients wont be impacted too much if I am absent. I work with very ill/vulnerable clients so I'm a danger if I am sick.

Yeah but usually you get promoted to the not physical stuff by the time you are mid forties. If you are still lugging cement at 60 you are likely not very educated or a heavy boozer or have some sort of reason that will make you die young. The breakfast roll and 20 smokes a day culture was a big throng for killing construction workers or the 5 jam donuts at lunchtime but they try to educate us now.

    They need to try harder.

This gets better and better. What has BMI to do with resistance to, or protection from, viruses?
You did mean Body Mass Index, didn't you?

    Enlighten us please.

My god you are going for the jugular on this one arnt you. Tell me what’s really upsetting you. Don’t communicate by attacking random people. When you first got angry, the flashpoint what was it?
Was it that people of a healthy weight don’t get sick as much as over or underweight people?
    Was it the teachers?
Was it the fact I closed an account a few months ago which I had to put you on ignore to leave me alone and you have noticed now it’s me again and you have started on some sort of crusade again?

I think you think I’m somebody from the past that you had a row with or something or you have some sort of problem with me. Can you just move on.

You are more likely to have a sturdy robust immune system if you have a good body mass index.
Now I know the fitness industry says BMI means nothing but I can tell you sister I’m fairly shredded too from running up and down ladders and stairs and a lot of upper body work running pipes through hotels. So general fitness and BMI would be good.
I never said it was. It’s probably the best in my job though. It very physical and people get injured or just too tired now and again. Heavy drinking on a Sunday wouldn’t be uncommon for them. It’s not like teaching. My Irish teachers and some of the religion teachers used to come in sit at the desk a lot of the time and not even register that we were there. Just turn up sleep it off and clock out. They’d booze at lunchtime too. There’s some people getting very defensive here?
    Did I say something wrong?

I browse AH now and then, but Christ, are you ever not here posting absolute rubbish! It looks like it’s how you spend your evenings.

My experience is overweight people would rather everyone was overweight than try and loose the weight themselves and get healthy.
Now with PC culture in top gear, no one can call them out on this healthy at any size nonsense, we are supposed to believe that they are just as healthy as those with out a few extra dozen KG of fat, its a great shame on society for not calling a end to this nonsense that is affecting quality of life for fat people, they should be encouraged to loose weight and society should not play along with their delusion.

I don’t get colds or flus , my BMI is robust. The new finger print scanners they have for security are a timebomb.
You wouldn't last a week in junior infants in bug season, BMI or not.

    And how's that working out?

I eat a 5 pack of donuts sometimes on my afternoon break

Don’t forget the 5 pack of doughnuts for lunch! I’d say he’s as shredded as the chicken in my spice bag.

    Mmmm spice bag...

Again I openly admit I like cake as much as the next man. People have a problem with that though.

0 in the past 10 years but that's just luck.
I've been really ill over a few weekends in that time.

It’s rare you hear of people being sick on the weekend.

What made the sick days happen. Was it the x box the booze or the bad BMI stats.

But some people don’t like merriment they just like giving out about assumptionisation and the public image of teachers and the value of what doctors say versus what they say.

    Assumptionisation???

    Assumptionisation???

I assumed that was the word for it.

Ah we all know rugby players have bad BMI s but for the average joe it’s a good indicator.

Your all picking on Conservatory because he voted no in the referendum aren't yous;)
I've a teenager in second year and almost every single day he has free classes. Every day! It's madness. I wonder are teachers secretly on flexi time and build up days off or something. Either that or they are all crying stress to the doctor.
And for the record being healthy greatly improves your immune system.
Im a taxi driver and hadn't been sick for about 3 or 4 years, not so much as a cold but I did that darkness into light thing and got sick from being run down the next day. If I had of been healthier and not weighed 100 kg I wouldn't of got sick.

Op can afford 5 donuts on his second lunch break. Let that settle in. He already spent a tenner on his first break on a breakfast roll cup of tea and a pack of crisps. A croissant and cup of tea in morning with 20 smokes and bus fare. I’m not up to date with the secondary schoolers but surely they’d be broke by Tuesday with this level of spending.
