Will they do loyalty cards? Every 10th abortion is free.

Will they be offering Botox while you wait?

She's in bits. Represents nothing about Ireland's future - 87% in her cohort rejected the outright nonsense she'd peddled in her time in the public spotlight. I'm actually annoyed she'd received such a platform, she is an irrelevant extremist.

Her name also sounds like a euphemism for farting. Which would explain why what comes out of her mouth smells like bull****.

She opened a wing of a school I went to when she was the minister for education. She stood on the foot of one of my friends by accident and never said sorry. I've known she was a bitch since then.

My bro-in-law worked the bar at an FF event when he was in college. He said that Mary O’Rourke was staggeringly rude. Just very dismissive and “You’re the help”.

Yes Robert it would. *toots party horn*

Just remember there was no need to make things personal to start with.

Can you imagine the posts from him if the result had been the other way around?!
I can. And they'd be nothing like those directed at him

I could bitch and moan about this country for...well, for Ireland, but it's heartening to see that such a divisive subject and decisive campaign appears to have resulted in a fairly unified vote i.e. rural and urban areas voting yes, cross-party support, and support across most age groups. The country doesn't often show this kind of unity outside of sporting events. Worth raising a glass to tonight!

Why is this person still getting a platform?
What is her expertise or relevance other than the UCD impeachment?

Media never seem to mention the fact she was impeached either. Or the links to other extremist catholic groups.

She's also said she wants to see legislation enacted as soon as possible so credit to her for that.

I think she also paid for or organised for people to have abortions when she's in politics.
I think she's a bit older but if she was in your family she'd probably support your decision!

From the exit poll 52% of people felt 12 weeks abortions was too far. I hope this takes priority in the debate over coming legislation. This was the major issue with the sensible no side.

It was the opposite actually, 52% in favour. So there is absolutely no reason not to implement the legislation as it was presented.

Sorry I don't have a link for it, but it was just on RTE news about an hour or so ago.

That may be correct. The point is that it's a contentious issue, which is why it deserves the most debate in the Dail.

Well, in fairness, I think there should be a balance of pundits. Plus, it’s just showing up how out of touch she is.

The people have spoken and Katie Ascough is still lying and belittling people with mental health issues live on TV. Why are RTE giving this vile woman a platform? Just because she's got a pretty face?

Just like in 2015. If it wasn't clear the people screeching about a "silent majority" are nothing but a completely tone-deaf, excessively loud, clear minority before yesterday, well it certainly is now.

I'm not talking about the country overall, I'm talking about the constituencies the TDs mentioned represent.

The Yes vote will likely be lower there than in other places, less than 50% maybe not, but less than the national.

    Most will be 60%. PLUS.

That's pretty much it. She's the "face" of the pro life platform. Plus pro life groups have a habit of putting forward young pretty girls as a way of trying to avoid looking like old men who don't care about women. At most marches they'll put the youngest women at the front and all the auld wans will trial behind.

Katie's bubble is in the Youth 2000 religious retreats thing. I know a few people who goes to these things and she does represent them in my experience.

I'm not talking about most, I'm talking about the specific constituencies of the Healy Rae's (Kerry) and Mattie McGrath, the TDs mentioned in the post.

It's because there's an old boys' business network operating behind the scenes that includes big members from Opus Dei, as well as CEOs and MDs from the media including RTE and INM.

This is why Iona seem to get airtime despite having no mandate, while other causes usually require a TD or other politician to pull strings to get airtime.

    That’s some conspiracy theory there.

    Care to name names?

Fairly sexist remark. How would the yes side react if the no side were to simply pass off what they were saying and accredit their airtime to their physical appearance?

The exit poll has an error margin of about 1.5%. I don't think the poll showed anywhere below 60% did it?

Herself, Maria Steen, Wendy Grace, the Sirens of a dead dogma. Away back to Gilead with ye.

We may all be judged by our maker, or there may be no such thing, we'll find out some day, but I'll take my chances with compassion and trusting people to run their own lives.

Very disappointing result, it is a total disregard for basic biology and shows most Irish being happy to just be sheep and not think for them selves instead wanting to virtue signal and aspire to been what is perceived as being the cosmopolitan modern society that is bigger than what we actually are in reality. When the legalise child marriage referendum comes about I am leaving this **** hole.

    Connacht / Ulster 59.

Seems about right on the tallies.

Here's a link to all the results of the exit poll https://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2018/0526/966120-eighth-amendment-referendum/

I think it's interesting but it's just a poll, and yes the legislation requires a high level of debate to make sure it is robust, but what was presented to the people should be implemented in full.

I would just like to thank to the younger generation who primarily drove this campaign to victory.

As a Dad with a 23 year old daughter, I was very proud of her energy, passion and detemination to do the right thing by her fellow Irish women and girls.

We have moved far from the country that allowed a child to die giving birth all alone in a grotto.

It is fully time that we are unshackeled from the dark contraints of a cruel and domineering church and state that physcially, mentallly and spiritually abused and sodomised our children while preaching holiness and chastity.

To the darkest halls of hell with them.

Bring in the light. Well done the people of Ireland!!!
