I have never seen the Bible in public view, in all my time. Suspect it was left in view by the Presiding Officer deliberately, to sway a few voters.

I remember it being a thing at the last referendum

It's always on the table at our election centre.
In Court, if you are being sworn in and state you are atheist, there is an alternate form of words you swear on.

I held up a court case by refusing to swear on a bible.
I told the court clerk I wouldn't take that book into my hand.
They'd to go off looking for an affirmation. When it wasn't to hand the judge was less than impressed. But they found it and I swore on the affirmation and that was that!

They should keep it folded in the back of the bible, then they'd know where to find it. :D

In voting centers it's probably not in view until required through if someone turns up without ID.

Also the pencils that are used for voting are indelible.

    Inedible.

Edit: yea they're indelible as well as inedible I suppose.
I never heard the word indelible before.
I thought you meant inedible in case some loonatic tried to eat the pencils. :pac:

Which version of the Bible is it? Just asking, for the various christian faiths, on here.
Ah Genghis would always throw, a spanner in the works.

TBH I don't know since I'm a heathen and my fingers will burn to bone when I pick it up ;)

So, if you swore on it, it would mean nothing. That's a bit Jesuitical.

Anything but a yes/no question. Now the government get to mess it up. Never ending circle of **** i suppose

This is only the start, most of the politicians have been very quite or in hiding. The government has to get a bill through both houses, with most parties giving free votes and both sides of the debate targeting each politician individually.
It will be a total mess with enough dirt dug up to fertilize the whole country. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the next government that finally gets the bill through.

Politicians worry about their own skin first and foremost. When they see that swing there won’t be too many blocking it.

    It’s like this simpsons quote:

Have to admit, it's the first time I've been torn on which way to vote. Didn't make up my mind till I was standing over the ballot paper. It was the Doctors views that swung it for me.

Which doctors, they were well split.
Be disappointing now if some of those paid out of our taxes don't now abide by the votes of the people

What I find gas is that so lot of people that would be all go on social media for this referendum or the marriage one etc and then half them wouldnt bother their ass voting in the general elections then, just seems a tad hypocritical

Country is run by civil servants, it doesn't matter much who we elect.
My experience of meetings with Government is that only one person in the delegation changes and the rest are as they were before change of government.
If you ever watched ''Yes Minister'' on the telly you'd get the gist of it.
Unfortunately when they make a cockup it's the Minster gets the boot instead of the person responsible......and so it goes on

I understand that but just voting at times when it's the "in" thing to do is a bollox imo.
