    That's an amazing (predicted) result

Hope IT won't be left with egg on their face if the actual margin is much less

But it's definitely a Yes win.

RTE's one at 11.30. Can't understand why they want to wait so long. Polls are long shut.

    Sad day for this country.

Fortunately nobody is advocating for infanticide up to 12 weeks past birth.

Sad day for Ireland if so. I feel ashamed to be Irish if that's the way it goes.

Quit your whinging and lobby your local TDs for the legislation you want.

The Dail now has the right to introduce abortion legislation so you can lobby the candidates for the abortion laws you want now and for every single election in your future. Knock yourself out.

Only a margin or error of 1 to 1.5% so either way, it's gone!!

That would be an incredible result. I suspect the final margin will be much tighter but it's certainly an encouraging sign for a Yes vote! :)

Iona do no represent the vast majority of No voters. They should not have been allowed a platform in the major debates.

My take is most No voters are in favour of limited abortion for hard cases but against unrestricted abortion. I am certainly in that bracket.

Well then you should have supported the Repeal. Hard Cases couldnt be dealt with with the 8th in place

    Wow ! Great margin

IT polling has been pretty accurate in the past - hope to god this is damn close to what they predict. Resounding win for the Yes side
Be interesting to see what RTE's poll shows but I hazard a guess very similar

My understanding is that their accuracy is expected to be +/- 1.5%.

Though I felt it would pass, that's a much higher gap than I expected TBH S. Higher than the SSM vote too. Bigger turnout though and the bigger the turnout the more democracy is working so a great result for same.

That is not possible with the 8th in place and you know it.

If the result does turn out more than 2:1, it's going to be very hard for FF hardliners to impose their will in any forthcoming legislation. They will have to face the electorate sooner or later.

Are you joking? Don't know what age you are but I'll be 'six feet under' before any Irish government would dare hold another referendum on this issue.

37 thank you very much. I do believe there would have been if there was a no vote which I didn't believe would happen but I am surprised at the 62% to 38% thought it be a closer near 55% 45%

Landslide for Yes according to the IT, but I am happy I voted No as whatever happens from here on, I will know I voted for what I believed in, and anything legislated for has nothing to do with my actions.

So much for not celebrating the result.

I am celebrating, we have swept the iona institute into the dustbin

All the money No threw at this. Millions of posters and ads. People power looks to have won

There is a 5% chance that it is more than 1.5% wrong.

I'd expected a reasonable 55%ish Yes vote but if its a crushing 68% then I actually wouldn't be suprised as while this country can be headwrecking some days, Us Irish tend to be able to cop ignorant BS from a mile off and I feel that's why the NO side will lose.

Yes they do, their views began to diversify in the last 6 days after 35 years of failure to engage.

Unrestricted abortion up to 12 weeks was only proposed in the last year.
Another misrepresentation from the Yes side.
In fact no legislative proposals to deal with this came from any side until the last year.

Ireland's a mad country. At the same time this news breaks, there's a woman on the Late Late show talking about how she sees and talks to angels on a daily basis.

Looks like a yes she'll have a lot more innocent angels to talk too next year.

Absolutely spot on. Sure we should just continue letting the Brits dirty their hands on our behalf.
Have a bit of cop on and respect whatever the democratic decision chooses

Luckily for the rest of us the majority of the country doesn't appear to agree with you. Irish and proud today!

The no side knew the game was up at the start of the week. According to sources on another forum, their private polling was indicating a similar result to the exit poll. That's why No went into meltdown, went off message and became (more) hysterical.
