About 55 games including Borderlands, Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins, Tomb Raider, Saints Row III, Saints Row IV etc.

This is great. I'll have to try it out today!

Games aren't free, you have to buy them or own them in your steam or origin library.

There's a selection of games that are included under the GeForce Now subscription service of €9.99 a month.

I'm confused. These are free now though right? Or what's actually free now?

It's great tho, playing away on max settings the last few days on multiples of titles with solid 60fps without a hitch.

So every steam game works you have purchased. Or just if you happen to have an overlap between games you own on your steam account and games that are supported by Geforce Now?

I haven't checked, and am still on free trial.

But my assumption (and it's just that) is that you no longer need to pay the €9.99 sub at the minute to play their library of about 60 included games.

But there is a lot of titles (newer titles such as 'No Man's Sky' etc) where you do need to pay an additional fee to actually purchase the game.

When we're on the games - SteamLink app is available now...

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.valvesoftware.steamlink

Installed fine on the MiBox, should install fine on the Shield as well. Completely free to stream games from one's Steam library.

    Are they?

I got Beta access yesterday presuming that the games were free to play but they asked for activation keys.

Then it crashed and told me that there were too many players accessing the service. Haven't managed to play a game yet.

Seems to be some confusion on what GeForce Now is. It used to be €9.99 a month to stream games over the internet. This is now free.

Like Basq said, sign up for GeforceNow on the Shield and all of the games listed above are free to play.

The option to play your own games from your PC is a different thing. This was always free.

I get failed to login when I try any geforce now game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,403 ✭✭✭✭listermint

You should login via your laptop or phone first to unlock the account. Then reset your password. Once done use browser on file explorer on the shield to authenticate the decide to geforce.mines working now but gave a message of 4hour stream limit.

Wonder if it's short term seems to be

This didn't work. I signed up for the geforce now beta, changed pass, logged in using chrome on my shield and still just get login failed when i try to sign my Shield into a nvidia account

Got my Geforce Now working. I have Pihole running to block ads network wide on my home network. I had to set static DNS on the Shield to bypass it, it was obviously blocking it.

Yes, there's a pretty decent selection of games for young and old. Works well too, could not notice any lag on a hard wired shield on my 90mbit VDSL. I had used it for a few months before but cancelled.

Im currently using very good spec windows 10 htpc as my setup but hearing so many good things about this box even though im skint has me tempted somehow :pac:

I use the pc for iptv and any online streaming iplayers etc. My smart tv works great for netflix then.

Then gaming thing would just be an extra really not essential as ive a pc on one side then a ps4 ps3 and switch sitting under the tv.

I only have internet no tv subs only tv channels i have is the old cable which ive heard is possibly been removed around this area soon so that would be my backup to iptv gone.

So really for someone who mostly watches movies tv shows from his pc streams iptv from his pc uses netflix from the tv and games mostly from console would having one of these boxs be any sort of well worth upgrade at that price?

I wouldn't think so. If it's for gaming you could just get a steam link for like 16 euro or something. Depending on the TV you can get an IPTV app for that sometimes.

I don't like the iptv apps for the TV find to much fiddling around. Pc android etc much more straight forward.

So it's a no then on the shield?

I think the shield is a great bit of kit
All I’m using it for is iptv Netflix and emby
If you have the money spare then go for it

It's a 100% yes. I have exactly the same setup as you and all I use is the shield.

Anyone that says it's just a gaming machine is a plonker.

    There I said it.

    A plonker.

The shield is the best Android unit going and it's a superb all rounder . Without having to fiddle around with other sources. You can even hook your CCTV to it.

    No.

In your case it makes sense only if:
    • you want to reduce the clutter and replace many devices with one? That said gaming on PS4 will always be of magnitude better...
    • the remote setup for current PC is awkward. I know it can be, plus the UI of streaming sites for PC are not optimised for 10 feet interface.

I have a first gen Sony Android TV and Sky Q. Bought the Nvidia for video only, not a gamer.

The Sony is slow and clunky, this thing is excellent. Thinking about getting a combo box now and ditching Q altogether.

When it states "Large cosmetic imperfections on the front bezels. " it has been taken out...

I have bought many stuff from Warehouse Deals - and in 80% cases it was waste of time. Typically what happens is someone gets the parcel, opens it out with excitement, plugs it in and sees that there is something wrong with this particular item, for instance battery drops capacity much faster than it should or a button does work temperamentally... Customer returns the item, lads at Warehouse Deals asses the visual imperfections, test it briefly and all seems to work (or don't test at all) and put it into the 'Used' section of the site. The item is still broken...

Very few of the returns are actually because of change of mind. Gems can be had when the box was damaged during handling in warehouse - but those are rather rare and marked 'as new'. And in this case they are only a few euros cheaper... I don't bother anymore.

If this is called out in description, I'm not quite sure that's the case..
Large cosmetic imperfections on the front bezels. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and a 30-day return policy. « Show less
Don't get me wrong, I buy 2 - 3 items from Amazon Warehouse each month, but definitely worth reading description to see if anything specific is mentioned.
