The light blue colur seats in the stand bugs the f*ck out of me. I know its a minor issue but they should be green and/or red.

    Rant over.
Cold they be spray Painted in situ . Surely its not rocket science .

Nope. The paint wouldn't stick for long at all and it would end up looking worse. They would have to be replaced with red and green plastic.

Could a fella make a few euro selling red and green covers outside McHale Park on match days ?

That'll be Phase 7 and it'll come at a cost of €17 million.

Jesus, I don't know about Varley being the answer lads. He's a good footballer but was given plenty of chances and was far too inconsistent. The fans turned on him too, so don't be surprised if he doesn't even want to come back.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that...

There is a world of difference between club and county football.

    THIS^^^^^^^^
He wasn’t good enough and was not a reliable free taker
    I remember the 2012 final .........

Austin O Malley was similar . Excellent club player not county standard

And a defeat makes it much easier to throw out suggested changes. Given the injuries etc, I wouldn't have lined the team out much different myself.

We have a big squad, just lacking in quality forwards that's it. And most have been given plenty of chances. The management team get to see these lads in competitive A vs B games and challenges behind closed doors. They've gotten enough right for me not to question such decisions is my attitude.

Durcan and Hanley offer some hope for me though. Relatively new and if both were to come through during the qualifiers it would be a massive bonus.

I did like the look of Durcan on Sunday even if not much actually came off for him

he was certainly willing to get busy and showed for a mountain of ball. he's the type of fella I could see cutting loose in some games and being frustrating in others but I certainly can't see him lacking endeavour

I always thought Varley lacked in confidence at times. Sat behind him in the AIF in 2012 and there was no real purpose there in terms of making runs and showing for possession and just generally making a nuisance of himself. Lovely footballer on the ball, but he needed time and space to do any damage. He'll get bucket loads of this by comparison in club games

Re Enda Varley. 2012 is 6 years ago. There is no doubt Varley had talents in terms of footballing ability. But for me, he was making wrong decisions and getting knocked off the ball easily. Kind of looked sluggish. With age, comes a certain level of maturity and being able to find more time on the ball, and doing cleverer things. I haven't seen him play, so I don't know, but if he hasn't been asked by Mayo management for some sort of trial or to join up with the Dublin based players for a couple of training sessions, I definitely think he should be. What's there to lose. How many posts on this thread have we seen about lacking accurate shooters. He's also left-footer (as far as I remember). Might be a better option the Kevin Mc, based on Sundays frees. I don't mean to belittle Kevin Mc. He was one of our top performers on Sunday.
At this stage, I would prefer to see Enda Varley warming up on the sideline than D Drake, with the game in the melting pot.

I'd rather continue giving loftus game time, give Durkan more and perhaps Regan who is also left footed rather than go back to someone who was not good enough 6 years ago especially with Inter County standard having moved on a lot since then ...................

That 2012 match was an example aswell, I'm not going to go into every single individual game he had, the point I've made is clear

Spot on. A complete waste of time even entertaining this notion of Varley. Rochford has not given the young guys enough time in the league and it has come back to bite him. He really needs to trust loftus, Durcan or whoever and let them have a go. If it doesn't work out they have at least been given some valuable experience and we look to the following year.
Also if COC can get back to his normal self, then this also improves the situation up front.

Indeed it's really an element of clutching at straws out of recognition of our need for some more quality up front.

Watched the game back last night.Diarmuid's use of the elbow was particularly nasty,he could have done some serious damage.

Stephen Coen and Conor Loftus both had very disappointing days at the office.

Outside of his freetaking Kevin Mc was excellent.

It was surprising they didn't try to mix it up and switch Aidan inside and possibly occupy two men and bring Barry in?Many I have spoken to have mentioned same.

One thing that came to mind watching the 1st half the other day was how valuable Cillian is for placed balls, regardless of this recent wobbles.

Having McLaugllin once again step up to convert frees does not inspire confidence.

It's blatantly obvious he doesn't want to take them.

I just can not understand how he was back on them
It affected his game for a while after as well

I think going down to 14 men put pay to moran coming on. They had a free man for every kickout, and were retreating into their own half for our kickouts in the 2nd half, offering up the short option. So what was moran going to fetch? His lack of mobility at 14 men would also not have helped. If we had 15, I wouldnt have been surprised to see him come in, with a press forcing the keeper to kick it long and into the wind.

As for the talk of varley. Well, I think he took too much flak when he was there for a start. Would he have kicked some of those chances with the wind that we missed the last day? Probably, yes. But I dont think he is the answer now. We have regan on the bench anyway, who is actually quite similar to varley. Saying that, if the guy wanted to get in there and was up to it, and the management felt it was worth exploring, Id be happy for him to be involved again. You gain nothing from turning people away

I'm hearing we're back out Sunday two weeks lads, Is that right? I'll be just back from holidays so hopefully so!

But as I said after that the game on Sunday, nobody will want us in the draw. I remember when the qualifiers were Everest to us - there was some very bad days out. I remember playing Fermanagh in Sligo and of course Longford. We could go on but times have changed. It's a long road but we're more than capable.

I agree with the posts above, let's give Hanley and James Durcan some game time if possible. A couple of wins on the bounce will get some lads sharp very quick and that's needed.

Parsons is a massive blow in fairness - the man is built for Croke Park. You can't help but be proud of the way he's turned his career around for us so I'm gutted for him. I'm hoping he'll be alright for next season. But there's no getting away we are severely weakened now in midfield.

Anyways, we should take nothing for granted but fear no-one.

I'm guessing the draw will be on Monday 28th, that's the day after the last qualifier and two weeks before Round1.

Away to Wicklow or Offaly would be good.
