Heard this on KFM today at lunch time, harrowing stats all the same.

82 per cent of Travellers have been affected in some way by suicide.

That’s according to a new National Traveller Survey which shows that figure rises to 92 per cent in Dublin.

More than half of those surveyed were concerned about mental health and depression.

So would you like to see your Daughter or Sister etc getting the head punched off her ?

You can dress it up all you like but the fact of the matter is that female boxing is a vile disgusting "sport".

That's your opinion, not a fact.

The ones that have the least interaction with them shout the loudest in the media

No halting sites in the city centre or donnybrook

Wasn't there travellers parked up somewhere briefly in a place like donnybrook or foxrock years ago?

I can remember me da told me the story, apparently they said they couldn't move out because they had no cars available to pull the caravans, the next day a convoy of very expensive cars arrived at the scene to give them all a hand, supposedly even a rolls royce :D

If they want to do it, let them off. Not all of them want to go knitting.

It's a sport, get used to it buddy.

I can hand on my heart say I don't know what any of these are:

Marxist-Leninist, Trotskyist, Luxembergist, Chomskyist & Bennite

The only one I think I might know is Luxembergist, but I believe that means they're from Luxembourg, so I'm probably wrong.

I've seen them thrown around here on boards, and I've met a few people who declare themselves as being such... but honestly, I think it's people needing some reason to be special. I expect they feel that political theory is so complicated that nobody will recognise they're talking ****e.

The hard truth is travellers take far more than they contribute, they're a massive burden. We've all been oppressed in Ireland but the rest of us worked hard, made sacrifices and made the best of it. Travellers commit far more crime and sheer nuisance to the rest of us. One of them punched my friends mum in the face and broke her glasses cause she told them to move on from her garden. Big mistake, he left in an ambulance. All they did when I was growing up was bully and steal, they behaved like predatory animals. They bothered our neighbourhood so much after the ambulance incident they had to be threatened they'd be shot on sight if they entered our estate. They didn't, they're only hard against peoplre afraid to fight, we weren't.

Wasn't the Fine Gael TD Josepha Madigan involved in some anti traveller rumpus of words a couple of years ago?

And that only really indicates that they attended primary school for the 8 years. The fact is many, and I would think most, wouldn't actually have what would be considered a primary level education.

The amount of travellers captured by the census id take with a pinch of salt, mate of mine did the last cencus and reckoned half the travellers refused to fill out census form unless they were paid or else ignored numerous requests...he called to the guards about it and was told forget about it ..too much hassle...the amount of travellers on social welfare is the best way of getting travellers true numbers...
on that note what percentage of travellers don't work( refuse to work)? 98%..99%...

No group contribute so little and yet get so much. As far as lack of education opportunity's, hard to avail of them if you never turn up, when i was in school i remember the travelers had a free bus provided to and from school, the school had a special resource teacher specifically for travelers to give them extra support. Most of them are scumbags who cynically target the most vulnerable in our society especially our elderly. Time to stop giving a single penny to fund this outdated and barbaric culture. Send Cab in to have a good look at where all those new cars and vans are coming from, amazing how people mostly on the dole can afford such luxury.

This is why i laugh when people say the likes of Fine Gael are right Wing, most of our government is full of bleeding heart liberals, imagine what would happen in the US or parts of Eastern Europe if this lot tried to park up on private land. Fed up of those in high office not tackling this issue. We all know it's a problem and yet nobody does anything about it.

Whenever a traveller goes to college its seems to a big media event and they're interviewed on all the talk shows.

I caught part of a program about the railway in the UK. A small group of travelers broke in to a piece of land owned by British Rail. They refused to leave & told BR to go to the High Court.

Two weeks later they were evicted. They left a massive pile of domestic rubbish. The clear up & legal bill ran into thousands of pounds.

After that tragic fire in the Carrickmines halting site a few years ago, the DPP has decided that no charges will be brought against the County Council.

This to me means the blame must be laid squarely at the travellers themselves who put themselves in those conditions thereby contributing to this awful tragedy with their own lifestyle. The traveller lifestyle must be seen as some sort of child abuse or at the very least neglect and this used as a base for dismantling protected status for the travellers.

I wonder how they will word the outcome of the inquest now?

I wonder how they will word the outcome of the inquest now?

It will be worded with ultra PCness,in a fawning love letter to the proud spirit of our 'protected minority' brethren. No doubt about it.

The subculture of travellers is a political hot potato that no one in the Dail has the cohones to tackle.
