I will be taking early retirement this Friday so end of the commute and start of more leisure/touring cycling.

Only one car at home which will be gone most days so finally managed to source one of these for everyday tasks.

Pricey but should last for as long as I can cycle!!

Brand X XL Dropper Post (and Seat Clamp) for the mountain bike. Fed up of stopping and/or going into sections with the seat up as I can't be bothered - and I need all the help I can get! Also having issues with the post gradually slipping down, which is a particular pain on the spin to and from the trails.

A new Di2 battery, I want to try this synchro shift jazz. I'm not entirely convinced about it but it's an itch I have to scratch. A new bottom bracket too as the old one will be written off changing the battery (thank you Canyon)

Was expecting a Fly 6 and some jersey's to be waiting for me this morning and more importantly the wee bag of Haribo they throw in the box. Got home to find the box open and the sweets missing presumed eaten by one or both of the girls who were also missing :(

I've just received my new summer shoes, a pair of DHB Aerons http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/dhb-aeron-carbon-road-shoe-ratchet-2018/rp-prod164080

they are €86 now. i ordered them last week and they were €57!

€57 for a pair of carbon soled shoes seems like a steal :)

    God help us
    - a new columbus fork, to deal with the erosion of my old one. ciclicorsa.com
    - a pair of Specialised Grail gloves (left my old ones in Portugal by mistake). The nice hotel posted them back - they came in the same post as the new ones. Now I have two pairs. bike24
    - two bottles of tubeless sealant. bike24
    - a new saddlebag (the zip on my topeak wedge is crap, and has now died...shame, good little bag otherwise). CRC (I'm an equal oppos shopper).

Got to stop buying this stuff, and instead ride bare-handed on dodgy forks with dried-up-sealant tyres and no spare tubes or tools.

This arrived today - quite impressed with that delivery as I thought Chain Reaction distribution had combined with Wiggle and was out of Britain? Unless they're just running down stock in the north rather than moving it?

no idea what their distribution network is as it stands but I've largely moved back to CRC because of their delivery time (unless there's a big gap in price). 2 days delivery every time I've ordered from them the last few months. free postage on returns as well makes it even more appealing!

Just bought a second hand roadbike and it seems there's something wrong with my 37 year old legs because they're all like.... we're not going up that hill with an 11-25t cassette. So amongst other things I've an 11-28t cassette on the way as a compromise between buying a medium cage derailleur and a 32t cassette.

They seem to be keeping the North operational for the moment, despite claims of centralising it at the time of the buy out.

I seem to get 24 or 48 hours with them all the time now. Wiggle are slwo to pick so typically 5 working days (3 days to pick and 2 days to ship).

4iii left only Power Meter - after months of procrastination, and weighing up options, have finally taken the plunge. Would love to have been able to justify dual sided or total power, but really couldn't at this stage!

Just purchased same Sunday similar confusion with all the options but taught this would work best for me where did you buy?

I really wanted dual or total power, but really it was a case of never ending saving (which there'd always be something else), or a compromise to have it on one bike only. I listened to a velonews or cycling tips podcast on power meters a few months ago, and their conclusion was the best one was the one you'd use the most, so left crank that's easy to swap...

I went with ProBikeKit in the end.

Hope and optimism. Went for a v. small cycle last night, first time in close to a year......

105 groupset ordered from Wiggle on Monday afternoon to go on the Genesis frameset I bought off LeTape, just delivered. I've found wiggle delivery has got a lot better, must be shipping some of it from chain reaction.

Wiggle must be coming from New England by pack mule, had stuff in the basket with them and changed back to CRC

    105 disc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,433 ✭✭✭joey100

Nope rim brake frame so just the normal 105 groupset, probably could have waited until the newer 105 comes out but it was cheap and it's going to be a winter bike anyway so get it while I have the cash!

Just arrived this morning after ordering from Wiggle on Monday, pretty good turn around time. The bike box that is, not the bike!
I've had to tell the other half I've rented it rather than bought it. Hopefully I get away with it as I can store it away from home after the trip.
Made sense as use it three times and I'll be saving money.

    Snap!
Mine arrived this morning (from CRC) and I managed to get it in the shed before herself saw it. I ordered mine Tuesday after finally deciding to take my good bike away with me and realised the bag I own wouldn't cut it. It was a tenner cheaper on wiggle, but I wasn't sure about their delivery times and I need it for Wednesday, so went with CRC.
I was going to rent, but the cheapest I could find was almost half the cost of the box - plus they were arguing that 28 days was 5 weeks - so mine will pay for itself pretty quick even though I've now no money to take it anywhere...

€273. But I’m not supposed to be spending money!
I had said I’d rent one but then it wasn’t that much more to buy it.
I got away with saying I got an old model cheap as there is a new one out.

I just about got the bike in.

Altura nightvision Evo 3 jacket. My previous one is now about 10 years old or so. second zip is going but rather than replace it a second time it is time for a new jacket, current one is literally held together with staples in some places. Owes me nothing.

Unfortunately it was chepest on a site that didn't have any of the minor gimmicks i would have included in the order had I gotten it from amazon. in particular:

Ultegra 8000 for my old/winter bike, 50/34 11-34(they didn’t have a 30 or 32) to replace the 9spd Sora that came on it

The only annoying thing is I put new bar tape on it a few months ago and did a really good job on it (if I do say so myself)and don’t want to take it off
