    He just ran into him...
And Galway were awarded a wide ball as a point

You can keep repeating it, but it still won’t make it true

    How was that a red?

    Are you for real? :D

A blatant red. I thought even the most biased of fan would not be able to argue with the red.

What time do they have to close MacHale at?

Mayo forwards would be better off aiming the wrong side of the post

    LosIng isn’t the issue
Losing Parsons mobility for the rest of the season
    Huge trouble now

Mayo indiscipline and the O’ Connors indiscipline in particular is costing Mayo too often .

Players making the same mistakes with regard to discipline over and over again is very disappointing  .
We could have won this game with 15 players against 15 .
Parsons injury looked bad unfortunately .

Parsons a massive loss, he was flying it too.

Dreadful game really. Galway more clinical and that ultimately won it for them. No mayo sub made any impact. Loftus was a real disappointment

Galway have to use Comer more or I can't see them getting out of their super 8 group if they even get there

No team in the backdoor will fear mayo anymore

It's a long long way to the super 8s and that might be a bridge too far for the third back door journey in a row, as well as despite the fact that we would be battle hardened, we then come in against teams that would be much fresher.

Galway seem to have us sussed and we can't seem to raise our game enough to overcome their negative tactics. If we were to meet them much later when our game has been sharpened by championship competition, we probably could deal with them as they looked ordinary enough themselves.

Well done to Galway. They have now beaten Mayo for the last 3 years in a row in the Connacht Championship. I don’t think either team played well today. It wasn’t a great game. Mayo were very wasteful with their shooting and a major turning point in the game was O’Connor’s sending off. Again the lack of discipline from this Mayo team has cost them big-time. It was Higgins in this game last year, Vaughan in the All Ireland last year. They have to cut out that shyte.

No difference between Galway and 14 man Mayo except on the wide count.

Yep. R1 on 9 June. Then R2/3/4 on consecutive weekends from 23 June. R1 & 2 of the Super 8s scheduled for weekends of July 14 & 21. Helluva slog.

Have been on my travels and have been really out of the loop the last number of months, but in a fortuitous turn of events, happened upon an Irish bar in sunny South east Asia that was showing the match!
It was an awful spectacle from start to finish really. Both teams very poor. I thought. Galway looked no great shakes and I don't think they'll go far in the championship, which is why it was quite concerning to see such a toothless display from Mayo. Even with 14 men and the unfortunate loss of Tom Parsons, the game was still there for the taking and they had ample opportunity to push on in the second half when Galway looked like they might sh*t the bed.. They were so unbelievably wasteful though. There was simply no drive up front. A poor showing from Conor Loftus and Jason Doherty disappointing too, imo.
Keith Higgins and Kevin McLoughlin did their bit to push us on, but not enough. Too much stalling and ponderous hand passing.
Diarmuid O'Connor's tackle was dirty and he can have no complaints. Another piece of stupidity a year on from Keith Higgins' routine last year. Very poor discipline.
It'll be a long way to the super 8s, but I still wouldn't write this team off. I think this year will be the toughest yet, but never say never!
Lastly, the very best wishes to Tom Parsons. It looked an awful injury, one of the worst I've seen, and he looked to be in a lot of pain. I suspect his season is over. A real shame. He will be hard to replace.

Hard luck to mayo...really thought they were the best team today just didn’t have their scoring boots on. I still expect them to get to the all Ireland final at least.

I thought they were poor in the second half and deserved to lose. I think they would have won only for the red though

The loss of Parsons for rest of the season can't be underestimated.
Mayo will have a serious mobility issue around middle of the park now.

Sadly the same old failings in the forward line were evident again, some really poor wides and bad shot selection today.

Hopefully we can raise it for the next day and the extra games might bring more sharpness....but its a very long road ahead from here

    Agree Completely about Parsons mobility

Higgins and Vaughan have also been culprits, it's unfair to single out the O'Connors.
It's a major problem, You can play physically without hard fouling. it comes down to self discipline, there is no excuse for it.

The 42 are reporting that it's a dislocated knee for Tom.

There's probably massive ligament damage as well.

I dislocated my knee some years ago.
The problem is once it goes its unfortunately never the same again.
Mine popped out a further 2 or 3 times.

    Genuinely saddened by that injury

As said far bigger loss than that game

The O'Connors have gone off the deep end in terms of discipline..........win nothing playing like that only leaving themselves and the team down when they desperately need the opposite
