Glorified begging. Ie people online scrounging. From Patreon to ko fi to Kickstarter to gofundme idonate etc etc etc it seems people scabbing for a "cause" online are twelve a penny.
Some might have virtue in their reasons for doing so Ie an illness etc (sad they have to do such!) but many others are sexy skanky women looking to get guys to fund their licentious lifestyles (one Dubljn girl cleaning up on insta as all she takes about are blowjobs and guys donating left right and centre on Patreon!) or someone wanting a trip or someone funding a pipe dream off naive people's backs this kinda jazz.

I admire people in a way who clean up off these sites. Take the money and run. Take it if you get it.

But it strikes me. Isn't it basically begging no matter how its dressed up?.
The irony society is conditioned to judge those on the street begging yet look gooey eyed at these ahem "entreprenurial types".

They might as well be rattling a cup on the ha Penny bridge!.

You may as well call a businessman a glorified begger then.

They manage to wrangle money out of people so fair play to them.

I do. Hardly gonna post it on this though.

Im not condemning these people. Admire them for hoodwinking the gobshytes that "follow" them.

Load a naive people of meagre means paying others to live in luxury (usually decent looking woman).

Amazes me they dont see they are being used.
    Really does.

Anyway likes of "Roz" and "Vogue" not much better. Whore anything for a few shillings.

    Not like they need it.

    Bunch of licentious scabbing feckers

No more, or no less, begging than anybody asking somebody else for money. The means has changed wit the times but the intent and the outcomes are the same. The methods available today just make it easier and more widespread.

Begging: imploring others to grant a favour, often a gift of money, with little or no expectation of reciprocation.

There's a ridiculous crowd funding initiative to buy a sofa for Elon Musk.

Of course they are. So are any fund raising efforts by charities. They'll mask it with selling items or having a fete, coffee morning, sale of work etc. but it's still begging.

The important point is that begging is not, by definition, a derogatory term.

Yeah, I’ve had people suggest to me that I should do crowd-funding to pay for a bucket list or my funeral but I just can’t do it, man.

I might consider it to gather money for an experimental medical treatment or to raise money for charity but that’s it. Plus, anyone giving you money deserves details and I’m not comfortable with putting my name to personal information.

It just feels so entitled or something to think that something frivolous that I want should be paid for by others.

Reminds of those people in college who would basically get people to fund a really cool holiday for them by doing a small amount of charity work whilst on said holiday.

Can I have €100,000 please? I have a great idea. Some little Wifi-enabled white box that connects to some cloud service and tweets on your behalf every time you use the jacks. It even tells your smartphone when a stranger uses the jacks, or something. We havn't fully decided yet, tomorrow we'll do some blue sky thinking on our beanbags and maybe head to Starbucks for a few hours after.

Anyway please give me the €100,000 so my partners in China can start whipping their underpaid serfs into action and you can have your white box by Q3 2018 Q4 2018*

*Subject to further, perpetual delays. In fact we might change our minds when we get the €100,000 and decide to make a completely different product, or none

I buy my girlfriend nice things and take her out for meals- isn't it basically prostitution no matter how she's dressed up?

Hardly prostitution however it seems you are being used.

A relationship should be based on love and trust and enjoying the others company. Just seeing the other person you feel relief.

Not how much someone can scab and freeload all day and get feck all in return.

I can understand how the likes of go fund me can be used well by bands recording an album. People pay x amount and they get a product.

There are others that I don’t get. Bloke I know of going on a trip out foreign doing some thing in a poor community for a few months. Raising money for accommodation and flights.
Fair play to them in one way doing it but why not just get a credit union loan like most other people would do? Fair play to them if they can get money off folk !

I see loads of 'feminists' on Twitter with links to their Paypal account and an Amazon wish list. Who do they expect to give them money? The men they hate?

My favourite was the group set up to raise money for the girl who got a kicking up North, oodles of money donated by the facebook mob for the poor defenceless little girl...

...who of course turned out to be just as big a scumbag as those that did the kicking and had her own assault charges in the works.

I'd feel bad for those who donated except I don't feel bad for morons who make decisions based on facebook headlines.

I'd expect it from porn stars but these are by women whose other tweets are about how terrible men are. I found them by doing a search for 'feminist paypal' and 'feminist wish list'

Just thought I'd see what would crop up if I did a search for 'cis paypal'

I know you're all thinking it, but I'll say it. By far the most infuriating aspect of all this begging stuff is people who assume "That begs the question" means "That poses the question". It doesn't, and it never has meant that.

    ...

Let me tell you a story - a true story.

About three weeks ago, a mother brought her nine-year-old little girl to the GP for what she thought was a minor complaint. The GP sent them straight to hospital because he deemed her symptoms serious enough to warrant a thorough investigation. Not long after the tests, the girl was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and given only nine months to live.

Naturally, the focus shifted very quickly to making the little girl's last nine months as special as possible, so a friend of the mother, a lady I know, started a Go Fund Me account with the hope of raising €10,000. Within days, the fund was over €30,000. They could have done everything they wanted - holidays, presents, Disney Land - for that €10,000, but now they can do three times as much.

Every single day counts after such a devastating prognosis, but now there are greater financial resources available for the parents to make every single day that bit more special, and alleviate some pressure on the parents, one of whom has given up work.

I'm sure there are a lot silly examples of "glorified begging", but for every banal cause there is a very, very worthy one and that alone justifies the whole idea. It doesn't really matter if the undeserving capitalise on it if the deserving cases benefit from it too in my view.

Thanks to it we have Super Troopers 2 to look forward to. Zach Braff on the other hand deserves a slap.
