Former player Neil Best suggesting on Twitter ceo Logan to be gone by end of month with a former player taking over.

Is Gordon Hamilton a businessman of some sort? His name floating about on Twitter a bit in relation to Logans replacement.

Wiki stating he owned and ran a shipping business with 170 staff and £40 million before selling up.

Little by way of integrity left in the media these days, cancelled my weekend order of the Times a few months back and I don't miss it to be honest.

Ditto. The Myers shafting was the last straw!

Times and Indo are well on their way down the same road towards being clickbait outrage rags. Little by way of integrity left in the media these days

Thornley isn't that far away either - he's become much more of a fan rather than a journo with a decent level of detachment and some perspective; his criticism of J P Doyle after Munster's defeat to Racing 92 was completely out of order.

What did he say? JP was fine that day i thought

Thornley has been whinging about refs for a couple of seasons now, he really should give it a rest.

I mean blaming the ref for Munster losing? Get out of it.

    Anyone got details on Addison?
Appears he was looking impressive when low and behold it.... a knee injury?

"Racing looked fresher and stronger; winning collisions and utterly out-mastering Munster at the breakdown where they repeatedly latched onto the ball to slow it down or win turnover penalties. They also benefitted from JP Doyle’s infuriating refereeing. "

Well it's the Ulster Way after all

    Is it a bad one?

    Any more news on Hendy?

If that turns out to be the case, it will be a disaster for Ulster.

I thought they also said that if they got a replacement, he could leave sooner.

I'd rather wait six months for the right person than have a weaker option sooner.

Interesting though - if I were Bryn Cunningham and I knew that the option we were able to get wasn't going to arrive until January, I'd be making the case from the outset that he was absolutely the top choice and hence worth waiting for.

It's Townsend after all, they rather keep him on outa spite. They'll want to put their arm in for £s.

He can get a new forwards coach now, or in January next year. You'd think it would be in his interest to get it resolved sooner.

What happened to Firmer Farmer's comment?

    Was just thinking that?
The SRU will do us no favours, and they showed that voting for our chance at having the RWC. This will be their chance to stick the arm in and getting his contract bought out and rightly so, their entitled to. But for Townsend, he is no doubt a very very good coach. But through his time with Glasgow he just came a cross as a man with a chip on his shoulder.

Why would Scotland want to change coach a month before the six nations? Makes no sense.

I doubt they have any intention of that, but it makes sense to prepare for the possibility of that by hanging onto available resources until a replacement is secured.

The rest is grandstanding probably for money.

I don't know about grandstanding for money at all. Like, no offence to Dan, but how much could six months salary for the Scotland forwards coach possibly be?? If IRFU could pay it out, I doubt it would be a factor. They'll have to pay a caretaker or divert another coach to cover the period anyway.

But you're dead right, why should Scotland leave themselves short to help us out? We wouldn't do it for them. We held Erasmus to the last day of his contract, I'm sure Bristol would have ponied up to get Lam six months earlier but we kept him.

Townsend has to mind his own shop. That doesn't make him spiteful or give him a chip on his shoulder.

Been there and done it with Les Kiss.

Season over before he arrives? That would be a disaster for Ulster, doubt it has served any club ever having a new coach come in half way through a season.

Better 1 crappy season with a brighter future than 2 or 3 crappy ones before getting the brighter future I suppose. That would assume that McFarland can deliver what they need of course, which is probably a big assumption!

What are the chances of McFarland doing sessions in Carton House the first international window after he arrives? I'm sure Townsend is delighted about that.

But again I repeat we've been here and it was a clusterf***. It's madness to be doing this again. Yes he could well be a great appointment but we can't afford another wasted season.

Well if ye hadn't given Les Kiss the chop you'd be going into next season with a settled coaching team.

Ulster are better off without Kiss feckin' everything up. We wouldn't have a settled team because Gibbes would be away no matter what. The guy could see what a poor coach Kiss is. We would still have a head coach who is without any ability. Since Kiss resigned Ulster have turned the tide of awful rugby over which he presided. Being a nice guy is not enough. At least he recognised when it was time to go.

Sounds like Kieran Keane is the man for you!

Well if we're guessing, my guess is that Gibbes didn't want to deal with the Augean stables and relied on Kiss to do that. Once Kiss was gone, so was Gibbes. And I think that's pretty close to the truth.

Ireland may have dodged a bullet too. Who knows, maybe kiss was a legitimate guy to take over post Schmidt.

Gibbes would be going home no matter what. Family issues.
