Did anyone get paid for dumped milk during the snow? I was onto my milk advisor twice about it and he said he'd sort it but of course no payment. If I owed them money they wouldn't forget about it.

    Doing a bit of this...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,307 ✭✭✭atlantic mist

is it the coop or the processor paying for the dumped milk?

word they filtered out was that they were thinking of paying in meal vouchers, all rations increased by 50 euro even though eu cereal prices haven't risen in line with irish prices, impossible to get barley at the min, serious profiteering going on on the back of a national fodder crisis

would register for vat here if fertiliser brought into loop as it would tip the scales further in my favor which i wouldnt be compensated for under the flate rate farmer addition, that includes paying an accountant to complete returns

Nearly did something similar, topping today and a lamb running away from the tractor ran into the cover of the mower

Is it 10 days or 14 days old that calves must be before they are sold?

I have a man looking for a replacement Angus calf for a dead suckler but he has his heart set on a day old calf rather than an older female.

    I think it's 10 days

    Your topping already?

Ewes aren't cleaning the paddocks well, too much muck in previous grazings.
They really scoff the grass when it wilts a bit.
By the look of the weather forecast there won't be much wilting from now on.

There is a change due to 14 days but I'm not sure when it starts

I think it's going to be a new regulation for next year that it is going to be 10 days..

I'm sure at the moment, once the navel is dry, the BBC result is clear and you have the blue card...it can be sold.

I switched off the ad blocker just to see how many ads on that page. Ads take up more than half the page. And people wonder where their money comes from.

And the linked pages are the same. Some prominent Irish companies showing up there too as contributors to the vegan collective...

Finally finishing rd1 lol! 9th May, that has to be a record by a few weeks here, that paddock was jsut too wet until now, will need some serious drainage work. Onto rd 4 or even 5 on some of the other paddock tho ha.

Was looking at getting some Lwr straws but I'm not blown away by his linear figures.
I know some on here are happy with the daughters as milkers but how are these cows maturing.
Rep said that he's not suitable on light cows so that might say it all.

I wouldn't worry too much - but guess what? - Yes it's another opinion piece by vegan 'activist' based on pseudo-science and deranged opinions of other vegans...

Amanda Froelich is variously a "Vegan chef, raw food enthusiast, Detoxification Specialist, Holistic Nutrition Student, plant-based chef, certified Reiki master therapist, freelance writer, world traveler, and a "true activist" whatever the feck that is.

I think I can add bewildered eejit to those adjectives tbh ...

They really need to stay out of it. Let the market sort itself.

“They” have been interfering in the market since quotas were abolished with intervention and hardship payments.
Its inevitable that quotas will be brought back.

Quotas in some form will come back be it by non renewal of dero ,nitrates etc .ive no issue with voluntary reduction scheme been put in place .will suit some and not others so no ones hand will be forced
