I'd rather they showed the GAA matches that they're skipping to show this, to be honest.

    RTÉ don’t show GAA matches.

If these people heard your plans for that Saturday they would probably have the same reaction as you.

    I’ll be in NYC thank f**k :)
Can’t wait to tune into the Dutch royal wedding next time on RTE though

Nobody cares about the Dutch Royal family except a small amount of Dutch people.
The British Royal family are TV gold all over the world.
There are people in the jungles of Papua New Guinea who know who Prince Harry is and know he’s getting married this month.
That’s just the way it is .

Only a few wretches in the arse-end of nowhere living in single channel land who wish to see this, would watch this ad's and all on RTE instead of the BBC ad-free.

Bit of a stuck up title though.

Her Majesty Queen Máxima, Princess of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau

I'd like to see a mass demonstration of some kind to really fupp up their day. Paint thrown on cars/carriages, people with megaphones blaring over the sycophantic TV hosts, and generally fubar/snafu (or whichever military acronym is your favourite)

But since none of this is going to happen I'll make do with watching the FA Cup final.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

That’s true though. Even though that Maura Derrane seems to have a cult following.

Apres Match doing commentary on this would be a good move by RTE. Or the Viper

Does this Markle lady know that she is marrying into a family of lizards and will be forced to give birth to a royal hatchling?

The John Goodman film King Ralph always makes me smile. Not the whole film, just the first few minutes. TV 3 should show that as a nice counterpoint.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Scrap the license fee, RTE aren't impartial anyway so just do us all a favour, stop criminalising television owners and make that station pay per view/subscription.

    Yes, and an Irishwoman too.

Sorry, this is a very obscure Coronation St. reference.

I’d say they’ll have normal babies seeing as Harry’s parents are ‘outsiders’ with no royal/lizard bloodline.

I'll only watch if Ray D'Arcy conducts an awkward & stilted interview with the newly married couple on the steps of St. Paul's - "Your Mam would have loved this wouldn't she....yeah...sad...yeah....and Meghan, you're not the first US divorcee to marry into this crowd....did ye have any discussions about that with the boss?".

I was going to ask who in their right mind would be watching it on RTE when it'll be available on all the English channels, but I think you might be on to something there

How many people who want to watch this can't watch it on the BBC, I wonder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,299 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

Because like it or not, there are very many people in this country who'll watch it, and there's advertising revenue to be generated.

Anyway, should RTonly show content produced Ireland? That's ridiculous.

Who said RTÉ should only show Irish produced programmes?

I'm no West Brit or a fan of the Royal family but I can see that there'd be an audience for the wedding here in Ireland. I won't be one of the audience, I couldn't be bothered with all that crap but there are many who will watch it.

Wait for the ratings to be released and it will be one of the most popular programmes that week.

I'd say a whole pile of auld wans will want to watch it for the outfits, pomp and ceremony.

I've no problem with RTE showing it.
