WTF - attacked with cordless drill

Takes a lot to take me aback these days...but this is just absolutely horrific:

A woman has been assaulted with a drill in a potentially homophobic attack in Co Tyrone.

A teenage boy was arrested after a 38-year-old woman suffered a "very serious" head injury, the PSNI said.

The victim is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after the attack, described as "barbaric" by local representatives.

A 17-year-old boy is being questioned after the incident which occurred at around 2am on Saturday morning in Railway Street in Strabane.

According to the Mirror he pinned her to the ground and literally drilled into her head.

What the actual f*ck?
How disturbed / out of it do you have to be to be capable of something as horrific as that?
A seventeen year old?

Hope the poor woman can recover from this

Reminds me of the fella in Dublin a couple of months ago who cut the womans throat. Something not working right in their heads.

I'm starting to wonder if the Irish mental institutions are releasing tons of nut-cases thinking they are ok to be allowed into society again. Every year it seems that more and more crazy people are appearing in this country. For a teenager to do something as horrific as this needs to be examined into his past, doctors records the whole lot.

I think Northern Ireland is about 30 years behind the republic of Ireland in most cases. Just my opinion though.

This crime is particularly vicious, yet due to the daft laws in the country, we aren't allowed to know the name of this animal as he's only 17 and not considered an adult. Even though he can have a row with someone, head home and get a drill and come back and nearly kill them.

It is 500m from the border, hardly like its in ballymena or somewhere. I know people in strabane, theyre just like misplaced donegal folk, who worship mickey harte. This attack has a few scenes missing - 17yo male arrested for assaulting a 38yo woman in a homophobic assault??? Doesnt stack up

Her condition was last described as grave. If thats is indeed the case it might as well be murder. Absolutely sickening type of attack. Some junior acid attackers in the UK have had their right to anonymity waived. Hope the judge does similar here.

All we can do is wish the women the best. Totally disgusting what happened to her. Hopefully the culprit is locked up for a very long time as they are a clear danger to society.

Just like the guy in Dun Laoire who slit the throat of that woman around Christmas and who was refused bail on the basis of the police fearing he would commit murder and his parents fearing for his safety.
