Forgot to mention that the Movie Organisor (sic) plugin is well worth installing on this box. It scans your hard drive at a user-defined time and puts all of your shows that have multiple recordings into their own folders.

So if your kid records Postman Pat on series link it will put all of the episodes into their own folder. Very handy, stops the drive from getting clogged up with one big list of shows.

Got a link to this plugin?

That is great, a built in plugin updater is nice too

    Hi

    Setting this up at moment

    Having few issues:
Some satellite channels have no sound such as BBC1 NI Channel 5 .

I can't seem to get saorview channels . If I specify tuner c to spur hill in Cork it detects nothing . Only on manual scan can i see signal strength and pick up channels.how do you actually specify saorview channels for your region if using the image the high horse brigade posted.

The picons are not showing either - must have a look at path I copied over .

Press yellow to get into audio settings and then make sure ac3 and aac downmix are on

You need to adjust AutobouquetMaker to your Saorview area and start an AutobouquetsMaker scan to add the channel to the Saorview bouquet

Back to the saorview now I'll try that again , but didn't seem to work first time

Do I also need to change the tuner configuration to cork ?
Not picking up any saorview- cable is okay as it works on old box fine when I swap it out

Any chance the union tuner type is set to cable?

Where would that union type be?
Under the reception setting tuner it's set to Longford . I would assume given saorview checker points me to cork spur hill I should update this to that.

    interesting

is that not possible with OpenVix?

because CrossEPG is the only reason that I connect it to my home network

CrossEpg is the same on every image. You must have it configured to import XMLs. Set the source to opentv which pulls down the sky epg from the satellite.

Well plugged out the network cable and ran download and it all went fine so turns out it wasn't using the network connection at all but the satellite.

That's one network feed freed up.

    Cheers.

Go menu -> setup -> service searching -> manual scan -> set to tuner c and region and scan. Do any channels come in?

I can detect channels but not for the cork region which is odd . I tried all the cork options.
Getting most of channels on Waterford 746mhz , but not RTE 1.
Old box picks up all so I no reception is okay.
Do I need to manual add them if the region options are failing?

There are two muxes, You've only scanned one which is why you've not got RTE 1 on the second mux
Just set Autobouquetmaker to Waterford now that you know which mast your signal comes from.

Ya thanks that populates the channels in the favs section for saorview but not for rte 1
How do I then scan in rte on the other mux ?

You can manually scan the frequency, you'll get the channels both muxes are on here
    https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

You can convert the channel number listed to a frequency using the chart on this page
    http://www.saortv.info/terrestrial-saorview/tuning-saorview/

Thanks got all channels in now.
Only issue I'm having is with cross epg.
Giving a timeout for tuner lock error when I attempt a manual download

First thing is to make sure it's set to your hard drive not internal flash.
If it's still not working so a full satellite manual scan of tuner A on 28.2 with clear before scan enabled them try again.

Google tells me this error is due to a poor signal on one of your satellite tuners. You'll need to check the signal on both and fix of one is weak

I had a quick look on Google now too , people saying it's poor connectors or alignment.
I'll start with connectors as they have got bit frayed.

People also seem to recommend to store the picons on a flash drive so it's not also waking up the hardrive on channel changes .

Very impressed now I've got majority going
    Thanks for backup and tips

The guide to flash the box is there. My backup is also Openatv but it is fully configured with most things to get you up and running as quick as possible. Get it flashed and then come back here for further guidance.

The picon pack is a zip, you extract and copy it to the box storage after you've flashed the image. To do this you copy it across the network with your laptop using a software called FileZilla. Come back here for advise when you get to this stage

    Hi THHB

Got the box flashed. Cant seem to get Saorview channels, but think it might be something to do with my aerial. Gonna check it out in the attic. It was originally coming through a cheap saorview box for an old tv i had before. Should I bypass the box now? I have a panasonic smart tv?

Struggling with using the filezilla for the picons, any easy way through this?

Do you know what mast your Saorview comes from?

For FileZilla you'll need the IP address of the box. You'll find this in menu -> setup -> system -> network -> device setup - wlan or lan (whichever you use wireless or Ethernet) -> adapter settings

At work now, will be trying this all this evening. I got the wifi dongle from WOS as well. I assume when I am transferring Picon files from laptop to Tiviar box it is using this dongle?

Is filezilla easy to use or would I need to know the procedure?

You'll need the network setup for FileZilla, it's a network file transfer software. You just copy the folder on the left and paste it on the right. There is a bit of a learning curve alright, there are plenty of YouTube videos, search for "how to use FileZilla client"

    Hi

When I go into the settings for my WLAN connection, it shows my wireless network name. So i can only assume the dongle I got with the box is picking up / connecting to my netwok.
But below that it says IP Address N/A ???

    Why would this be?

Also I the time and date are all wrong on the screen, would there be a reason for this?

    THanks in advance
    JB

box has not got internet connection so wrong date.
using a wifi dongle your router will have a login password same as a laptop to allow connection.

Use the Wizard and connect to your WiFi with the password on the back of your router

I added my picon folder to a fat32 formatted usb key i had lying around and deleted the folder on the internal hard drive. This is probably a better way of adding them. No need to initialise, the usb key automatically mounts in /media/usb/.
This also means there's no need for FileZilla to add picons can just copy them to the usb key using Windows

    Hey

Not sure if I am in a bit over my head with this box setup.
But if you guys are ok to keep answering my questions ( of which i am afaid i may have a good few before I get set up properly and the wife is happy!! ) ill keep asking,

So I go into network wizard. the box is picking up my wireless as the name is coming up, but i dont see anywhere it asks me for password etc.. and it network activated but when I test network it says not working.

Any ideas, this is the screen that comes up, no password request to connect,

i have the Netis wifi option that came with the box connected into USB at the back. I assume this is correct as well?
