    Hey

Not sure if I am in a bit over my head with this box setup.
But if you guys are ok to keep answering my questions ( of which i am afaid i may have a good few before I get set up properly and the wife is happy!! ) ill keep asking,

So I go into network wizard. the box is picking up my wireless as the name is coming up, but i dont see anywhere it asks me for password etc.. and it network activated but when I test network it says not working.

Any ideas, this is the screen that comes up, no password request to connect,

i have the Netis wifi option that came with the box connected into USB at the back. I assume this is correct as well?

    JB

The box is seeing your network, it will not connect until you tell it to and give it the password. Open wlan, click on your network, does it ask for a password? (I don't have a wireless dongle attached to mine to guide you in further)

It should be the same as this video but may look a little different

It will be the same if using a laptop to connect to your wifi=password protected.

.on other query picons on usb on fat32? does it not have to be initialized to ext3-ext4 to work on box?

No, worked fine for me formatted to fat32. Makes it easier to add them.

Ext3 is better for the internal storage as it runs smoother and never needs defragmenting like NTFS on Windows.

The reason i asked users who used usb in fat32 had issues.only used mine for epg for daily download.

Can you change the encryption type? (to wpa I'd guess)
That might open a dialogue box asking for password..

I'm only using mine for picons so read only. CrossEpg, timeshift and recordings save to internal hdd. If you're using usb for storage initialize to format to ext3

Can the picons be just saved on USB and inserted into the Tiviar that way?

Yes but as I said if you're using the same usb as storage for recordings or saving the 7 day Epg you really need to use the box to initialise it to a Linux format as it works better. This will mean you'll have to use FileZilla to copy them across.

Did you get the box connected to your broadband?

Working on it. Think ill get it sorted all right. Herself is watching something at moment.

Then i need to figure out Filezila.

I also need to figure out my saorview. The lead is not coming directly from an aerial into the box, it goes into some hardware in the attic and into an old Saorview box i used when we had an old tv. The hardware was installed years ago so i think this might be my problem. It should probably come directly from the aerial?

CrossEpg will run during the night if the box is on standby, it will pull down the 7 day Sky Epg, convey it and save it to storage for quick access. If you've not got any storage configured it will save to local flash and could make the box glitch and crash. Don't worry, a reboot will fix it but you realy need to get storage configured, you won't have a fully functional box until you do.

You should get a local TV man look at your aerial setup, we would only be guessing

HOw do i configure storage for the EPG?

I have the EPG configured to the internal Harddrive actually. It shows it in CrossEPG setup. This is ok right?

You are connected, set your nameserver to the same as your gateway 192.168.8.1

You can use the IP of the box to connect to it using FileZilla 192.168.8.110. username is root, password is tempass.

What storage do you plan on using? Did you get an internal drive or are you going using usb?

    Sorry cross posts.

I have internal 1TB Hard Drive. And CrossEPG configured to this.

In Filezilla it asks for Host - is this were i put in IP of the box

Just spotted DHCP should be set to yes in your wlan settings, this is why your nameserver didn't set correctly

The 1tb internal drive will be formatted, you just need to go to plugins and do a CrossEpg download.

Yes you put your IP in hosts in FileZilla. As I said earlier if you have a spare usb key for picons on there to save the drive being accessed every time you change channel, this way you won't need FileZilla at all

I'm struggling with the Filezilla all right. I have the USB i used to flah the box with. Can I remove this and put picons file on it from my laptop and put it back in the box. O should i use another USB?

Do I have to do anything once I have USB in?

Use that, just extract the zip and put the picon folder onto the usb and plug it in

What is the minimum amount of setup work required with this box, if say for instance I wanted to use the Sky skin (Slyk)?

This box is not plug and play, there is a big learning curve with Enigma. You need to have some computing skills as it involves extracting and copying files and directories and sometimes using FileZilla and putty to remotely access the box. The slyk skin is not available to download in plugins so you must download it and copy it to the box to install it.

    Ok. Thanks.

    Have flashed box.
    Added picons
    Downloaded Cross EPG once
    Set EPG to HDD storage
Saorview - need to sort this myself
    Wireless connection done
Cant seem to change weather setting for my area, but not too bothered
    Backed up image

ANything else you would recommend doing or adding the box to make it better?

Couple of other channels i want to add. Do i just do this manually and add them to a particular bouquet?

Add them to favourites it's the only one that doesn't get overwritten daily when Autobouquetmaker updates

One of the remote buttons deletes the number, not sure which

It'll be next week before I can get mine. In the meantime I ordered this HD on amazon. Good reviews and 43 quid delivered.

    Seagate 1 TB

THHB, I've copied and pasted all your advice so hopefully won't have to bother you too much when I get sorted.

Forgot to mention that the Movie Organisor (sic) plugin is well worth installing on this box. It scans your hard drive at a user-defined time and puts all of your shows that have multiple recordings into their own folders.

So if your kid records Postman Pat on series link it will put all of the episodes into their own folder. Very handy, stops the drive from getting clogged up with one big list of shows.

How do you go about getting this plug in, do i download it from internet onto my laptop and put it on usb and then put in into tiviar box?
Or whats best. I cant seem to get the wireless connection on my box to my wifi working correctly. DO i need this working to install plugins?

To get your wireless connection working you need to enable DHCP, it's set to no in the image your posted earlier, change it to yes.

I done that, but when i do my IP address does not come up when i check for it. I know i have it already from before, but it just doesnt seem to be functioning and i cant connect to it with filezilla. All makes me think its not working properly.

So when I go into WLAN settings the IP address shown there is not my box IP address?
Where do i get my box IP address then?
