Posting snoop lyrics on Instagram as tribute to friend who died in car crash! Basically down to using the word "******", no allowance for context, and of course she only received this sentence due to the colour of her skin and perceived privilege or else jayz would have been arrested for saying it at Glastonbury, I remember when some liberals were pushing for tougher regulation on "hate speech" batting away concerns that it would lead to this Orwellian nightmare! Anyone who formally supported these laws now regretting it?

A teenager who posted rap lyrics which included racist language on Instagram has been found guilty of sending a grossly offensive message.

Really? Haha to a girl who posted lyrics from a song she liked as tribute to a friend who died being dragged through the courts She was given an eight-week community order, placed on an eight-week curfew and told to pay costs of £500 and an £85 victim surcharge. The victim surcharge is for the police woman who felt hurt at having to read it. To me this is very dangerous.

Sounds like she's in the wrong job tbh.

See Chris Rock on when a white man can say.....you know what.

Reminds me of the farcical ballad "Whatever you say say nothing".

Courts waste their time on this nonsense and real criminals, who know the law better than any lawyer because their freedom depends on it. walk free.

What are the chances of this person getting employment and retaining it with a criminal record for race hatred.

Probably on the dole for a long time until this dies down.

Weird story. I'd like to know what the law is. It should be illegal to spout racist abuse at someone but this doesn't seem to be like that. I wonder is the law badly phrased or was it the judge? Or is there some circumstance we're not being told about that makes a difference.

At last, a genuine case of PC went mad!

Although anyone posting rap lyrics as a tribute should get a good hard slap.

So then.....are all Snoop records going to be banned from record shops (do record shops still exist?) and Itunes and the like?

    .

    N1gger?

You can say it in an academic or abstract manner, you just can't ever direct it at someone.

It's a weird word. I completely understand why it's so hated. There's few words that are so wrapped up in hatred and abuse.

But I don't like a word having that much power. It's a bad word. It shouldn't be used in it's intended way but we shouldn't be afraid to utter syllables.

Imagine being in a situation where your life was in danger - say you woke up at 4am, hearing noises downstairs, and you sneak to the top of the stairs and see two large gentlemen, one armed with a sawn-off shotgun, and one armed with a machete. They are about to come upstairs, and you have kids. You manage to get to the phone to call the police, and they tell you they will have someone there in a few minutes.
Then it turns out the person they send is this policewoman, this policewoman who was so hurt by reading a word, a word that features in every second song on the radio these days, and is uttered in half the Hollywood films produced, and she is to be your saviour. Imagine the terror she would feel at having to confront somebody, especially two somebodies who are armed. Imagine the absolute fücking uselessness of hiring her as a policewoman. Imagine the burning, murderous rage you would feel against every fücking liberal snowflake twat that has brought society to the point where such a person is facilitated to remain in a job, not to mention a job where she is risking people's lives with her uselessness.
And next time someone defends PC bullshït with the old line "why does it bother you, it doesn't hurt anybody" remember that someday it may hurt you or your loved ones.

The important thing to remember is that posting rap lyrics on instagram is a far more heinous crime than child rape gangs

The Police woman quoted in Article. Bit of context that explains her stance (Still think this is barking mad though). Joey Barton the footballer, his brother one of the killers!!

It's not just PC gone mad, it's lawmaking gone mad.

The UK law on this appears to be basically:
“a person is guilty of an offence (a) if he sends by means of a public electronic communications network a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character” (i.e. otherwise than by means of a programme service)."
    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/21/section/127

So, under UK law, if you post something on facebook that is of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, otherwise than by means of a programme service, then you are guilty of an offence.

So Game of Thrones is okay when Sky broadcasts it but post up "indecent" or "obscene" clips/memes from it on facebook and possibly risk prosecution. Sounds ridiculous but then again, somebody just got done for posting Snoop Dogg lyrics.

Ireland is no stranger to stupid laws either. See the Irish Blasphemy law.

....and here was me thinking there's no such thing as the right not be offended

The police officer, PC Dominique Walker is a sister of school-boy Anthony Walker who was murdered in Liverpool 7 years ago. She joined the police to make a difference and is in the Hate Crime Unit so I'd say its safe to say that she will never be attending burglary calls or any other police work for that matter as she has a cushy number in that unit. I hope she's real proud of herself, she has successfully prosecuted a teenager for posting bloody song lyrics. What a fuggin joke!!
