Let heifers out with angus bull yesterday. A bit earlier than planned as I will have no one to help me for the next ten days . Had them on meal all winter and they look great

Will you start the cows soon? Have only half my heifers out here it's a bit of a balls. Finding grass that's dry enough for them all. Have 2 vasectomised bulls so will have one with each group hope to get the rest out today if I can altho a good bit of rain due in the next 48 hours I think

Reggie.....love if you could give a rundown on stitching, Inc type of grass seed ( prepared, tetraploid etc) and maybe a run through reseeding after a silage cut, and the timings for this...

    Savage if you can...

That nitrogen coated seed looks very interesting for this very use.

The nit covered seed is only 10% better at establishing
It cost 2 times the price and you have 50% less seed
So you would be better sowing at a slightly higher seeding rate

    It's a gimmick tbh

Yeah thinking the same. 12kg in those bags of coated seed. Only 5/6kgs is actual seed. Was thinking of using it on silage ground but going to buy 5/6kg of a tetraploid from Aber. Like abergain or something and sticth in after cutting

In reality it's more 7kg for coated seed or 8kg if you go for treated seed in a 12kg bag.

You can't look at it as per amount of seed in the bag. I mean if the coated or treated seed is more likely to get a strike you have a higher percentage of the seed germinating. Also you may also be insuring yourself aganist an unseen problem such as large rainfall, drought or unseen heavy frost

the merchant where I got the clover seed recommended giving it to the sheep in their ration..... don't know about clover seed but they're very efficient at propagating nettles with that technique

Had to find a quiet place to digest the dinner. Unfortunately it's in a chair beside a fire and don't think I can get back up out of it.
