And what if their contracts were renewed? Would it upset you?

Very much so, but I doubt it will come to that tbh.

These guys have all been dragged through the 'media' too and got a severe 'bashing'.
But, apparently their careers are on the line too according to the mob.
I didn't see any ads in the papers demanding FG get rid of Kenny.

Drop a bit a sex into the equation and the Irish get as judgmental as the church ever was.

I don't recall Enda being accused of rape? Nor of him having to apologise to his family for his behaviour on the night of the activities in question.

They should have considered their futures before engaging in and bragging about such sordid acts.

Should everyone accused of rape be sacked from a job? Even if acquitted?

The lack of compassion you show is alarming. I doubt you’d be so cold if your daughter was the victim. No smoke without fire.

Ah the typical BS statement of no smoke without fire. By that logic, all allegations of every kind would result in an automatic guilty verdict. Well done champ.

I left Ireland this week, I work remotely, and I actually felt incredible relief, and freedom.

Other countries have there own problems.

But there is a very particular kind of hatred towards women, combined with alcoholism in Ireland.

It is going to take generations to solve

    Not remote enough. :pac: joke.

Your post is complete tosh though. I am personally not an alcoholic, or woman hater, but I do have a real dislike for the double standards and man hating I see from certain groups of people primarily orchestrated on social media. Twitter for example is nothing but cesspool of venom and pooh. I’m not on twitter re are enough screenshots to make me sick of it.

To the poster that said there is a hatred of women in this country, which gender were called trash on a banner by a lesbian in Dublin during the week?

Don’t patronise me. I’m not referring to every case, just this one. That metaphor fits the bill here. A woman agreed to having sex with six men? The very fact that they use this as a defence is laughable.

You can feel the 'energy' of that hatred no doubt.:rolleyes:

The worrying thing is that a lot of young men raised on a diet of constantly available hardcore pornography may think it's quite normal - I think this has played a large part in the case under discussion in this thread too.

You seem to have a bit of a hard-on for the Enda thing Francie - don't see what it has to do with the case under discussion in this thread myself - smells like deflection and whataboutery.

I think it was about 16 or 17 years ago, so maybe find something a bit more relevant or recent to compare, or start a separate thread and see who's interested in discussing it.

    No hard-on.

These guys are now being hounded for WhatsApp messages that are deemed 'sexist' and offensive.
Kenny made racist remarks that were deemed offensive.

There is whole up to date list of TD's making sexist remarks and gestures and being allowed to continue their careers. Google it, I just picked a noteworthy example of a Taoiseach being racist.

Have no lessons been learned from jumping to conclusions and deciding guilt before evidence is presented?

    Dear me.

Think last night was enormously encouraging for Irish rugby. You add an international outhalf to that young team and it offers a lot to be hopeful about.
Once Ulster bring back Jacko his selection for the national side will be a rugby matter. There is nobody close to him as an altetnative to Sexton
Cant wait for the rugby football wc now

I have lived here a long time , retired now and raised a family . I have not come across hatred of my female gender by anyone in my life . Luckily I am surrounded by men who are plain ordinary men who most certainly do not hate women . I worked all my life too surrounded by men who treated women equally and with no hate
Very sorry that you lived a different life but do not tar all the great men in my family and circle of friends with your biased brush . Because to do that is absolute rubbish and shows a real lack of insight into human beings in general

Apples doesn't like men, or Ireland.

C'mon RuMan I am on the same side as you, as are a lot of posters but your blatantly trolling now to get a response. I don't know how many times you've put up the same thing. I want the best players out there too and if that's Jackson I'm fine with it. But it's probably unlikely that he will be.

As an irish man and father, that is a very offensive post. I have been very consistent on this thread in my views towards the horrible behaviour displayed by the rugby players (I accept they have now apologised)
That sort of attitude just undermines people trying to find a reasoned and balanced position

Don't worry we don't all feel like Apples about men . To do so would be daft and ignorant .

Appledreams comments have got me to thinking what it means, or what message it sends, if these men cannot redeem themselves because of a stubborn strain of feminism that nobody seems to want to take on in the media or in public.

I wonder is the "hatred" she is experiencing, hostility/rejection on a personal level rather than gender specific. Theres been some expressions that wouldnt endear her to the rational menfolk of ireland; they're actually insulting and offensive.
Add to that "remote working" ive a suspicion she isnt living in the real ireland. Ignorance permeates every post.

    Its actually kind of sad.
Maybe she has had a bad experience at the hands of a man, who may gave been a fcukin prick. But it seems to have informed her opinion every irish man is the same.

We'll call you when it has improved.
Until then, don't ever come back. Ever, ever. It really too much a risk for you.

I was delighted to see Ulster win last night . I am sure it gave the supporters a well deserved lift .

I would love to see Jackson back playing for Ireland but I feel he has become too much of a liability now in terms of loss of endorsement from sponsors.

Hopefully I will be proven to be wrong and some agreement can be reached between PJ and the IRFU

Experiencing' hatred ' perhaps because it seems to flow blindly from every pore.......... karma and retribution at work perhaps.

Times has changed. Your generation were thought to respect everyone and the importance of family values. The accessibility of porn has changed all of that and normalised what was promiscious behaviour back in your day for men and women. Its not going to end well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,738 ✭✭✭Heres Johnny

To think about this logically (mad I know but stay with me for a moment) this was a case about particular individuals alleged to have perpetrated a crime on another individual. In this case the defendants happened to be male and the complainant was female. The males happened to include 2 famous sportsmen.

Men commit crime on women. Men commit crime on men. Women commit crime on women. And women commit crime on men.
Old people commit crime on young people and vice versa.
Dubliners commit crime on country folk and vice versa. Northside dubs commit crime on Southside dubs and vice versa.

When the hell did we start generalizing so much? Why are all men in the firing line? Why are there so many articles about team sports having a toxic culture?
Why is rugby being singled out?

Can the next case where a women assaults or murders a man be the male retribution? Can we have #ibelievehim all over the place?
Can we generalise against all Women?

And just not to be a hypocrite, I know it's not all women having a go at Men, but the number in the baying mob is quite large

    Nostalgic nonsense there Joe.
This generation has more value on all the people in society generally than previous generations.

Too much has come out in the last 20 or 30 years to play the 'in my day things were better' card.

Rugby is not being singled out. It's just that the then alleged offenders lived in a juridiction which names people. If Jackson's party took place in Bettystown instead of Belfast we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

It's just because they're household names.

Professional protesters most of them. They know nothing of the complainant or the defendant. Either one could have been lying through their teeth. An opportunity to get their mugs in the paper that's all. Probably the same idiots who protested outside the Dail when a homeless man was found dead, only to discover he was a paedophile afterwards. This women vs men carry on is ridiculous.

    Hi Appledreams,

When you read the comments about you here, you will know you have made the right decision to get out.

To the rest of you - you should be ashamed of yourselves for attacking her and your bullying attitude.
