Hilariously of course, Paddy Jacksons barrister is a commercial law barrister based in London. So even with you being pedantic about the law in general when I clearly meant the criminal law, your post is still self defeating. Blane's Barrister was the fourth highest earning Barrister in Northern Ireland last year. None of those who qualified for legal aid would have been granted it for those legal teams if the case didn't overrun.

Toby Hedworth wasn't in the top ten and I can't be arsed getting the full list.

I'm done. In summary. I beleive the girl. Playing for Ireland is a privilege not a right. The lads benefited from a system in their favour.

Sorry, but you are the one who made a lazy statement about the motives of lawyers. Toby Hedworth QC might be easy to overlook based on his earning power, but he is one of the highest profile prosecutors in the UK. He has tried terrorism cases, white collar crime and sex crime. He is massively experienced and highly accomplished. You are seeking a lack of fairness where there is none. Only one side ran out of money mid trial, not the public prosecution services.

I'm also done. I don't believe either side sufficiently to accuse either of them of anything, not rape nor dishonesty. Having an equal opportunity to be eligible to represent your country is in fact a right. The lads benefited from nothing, they were found not guilty unanimously by people who heard a lot more evidence than you, but are clearly still completely guilty in the eyes of many.

This is not fact and should not be described as such.
    You are correct.

It was the PPS not the PSNI.

It's odd, Ulster have lost the same number of games as Munster in the league yet we probably won't qualify for Europe and they sit 2nd in their conference!

Venjur is a warrior. I would hire you in a heartbeat to defend me.
Back to Piatau.... anyone know if Bowe or Trimble make the same salary as him?
I'm curious to see if genuine Irish stars command the same salary as the imports?

They wouldnt make anywhere near the same.

    Why not? Proven international players.
Ulster should have signed a couple of front row instead. Imo

Where to start? It’s economics, supply and demand etc. If you think those players are worth as much let them go on the open market. Piutau did and he’s off to England on an even bigger salary. People might not rate piutau but wasps/ulster/his new club do...and they are prepared to pay for it. Rightly or wrongly. No way bowe it Trimble would get offered a million dollar contract. Not least because they are both well on the wrong side of 30.

They've the freedom to go and earn a **** ton of money playing games for a living in any one of 6 or 7 exotic countries. They're free.

Free to be called rapists and pilloried by a large cohort of idiots on Twitter including an Irish senator? Sounds like good freedom alright

Casual sexism? Wha? You trying to tell me there aren't a bunch of men on Twitter and Facebook comments angry about them not being returned to play?

My opinion is that regardless of their actual guilt or innocence, the odds were always heavily stacked against the accuser of getting a conviction. Almost insurmountably so in a trial based nearly entirely on witness/plaintiff statements. The statistics are well established in that regard.

And your suggested solution to this is?

I don't understand how you think thats a benefit. The complainant is privileged to live in a society where the cops don't just laugh her out of the police station as she reports a gang rape.

What evidence was there of the PSNI laughing her out of the police station? I don't think anyone claimed this. Her complaint was investigated by police, the necessary evidence gathered and the evidence submitted to the PPS.

Watching on Alba, Alan Dell is on comms seems more interested than the usual bores they have on.

    3 0 Edinburgh after 10 mins.

Ulster not really getting anywhere with the ball so far.

    Great try for Cave!

O'Toole has carried 4 times already. On one occasion he got put right back on his arse but other than that he is getting over the gainline. Encouraging start by him.

Great try. Brilliant link up between Piutau and Stockdale. Cave with the finish.

Great offload from Piutau. Nice score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,779 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Piutau took a crap pass there and made that try.

That assist by Piutau was just for Former Former!

The big Embra winger seems the epitome of the player that shines when the team is going well but doesn’t show up when it’s tough.

When they beat Leinster he had a spotless jersey.

    Piutau clearly reads boards.ie.

    You're welcome Ulster.

Where's Duncan Weir off to next season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,779 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Ulster murdering Edinburgh here. Looking far more dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Jock on Alba here reluctantly admitted weir was offside, shows him halfway up the ruck

Former Former do you take bookings for pep talks?

    I hear Charles pays well
