Athletes foot is a fungus - it spreads by contact. not a lack of "fresh air".

I know some people aren’t keen on people wearing sports gear to the gym, I wouldn’t be a fan just if the people who it seems (GAA people mainly) want you to know that ‘yes, yes I do play for this club’.

That said, I do appreciate someone wearing an obscure jersey or pair of shorts. Was thinking of buying a pair of Parma Calcio shorts for that reason.

Yeah but that's not really what a Full Kit W@nker is. These guys are FKWs:

Socks pulled fully up always adds to the look IMO. :)

There's quite a few Dublin GAA FKWs out there. Esp. in the main and High-Performance gyms in DCU.....YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

photos deleted. Let’s keep it clean.

Is that supposed to be the reasoning why not wearing shoes at the gym is a good idea?

Perhaps you should try that approach with your employer in the office too.

Oh see I regularly don't wear my shoes round the office either plenty of ppl in my office don't, except to the toilet cos it's the floor that's dirty, not my feet.

I've never seen a FKW in the gym but those pics are fantastic!
The socks just finish the look off brilliantly.

I'm not against jerseys in the gym either, I buy anything that's cheap for the gym so my gear is a mish mash of shorts or training tees of various teams I bought from lovell rugby.
I'd never go matching shorts and tshirt though that's for sure.

The person taking these pictures is much worse than the lads wearing full kit here.

I bet the people taking those pictures laugh at people taking selfies in the gym. So much worse to go round taking photos of other people working out imo

People have the right to wear whatever the hell they like (as long as their bits aren't hanging out)

It is incredibly wrong to be taking photos of people at the gym without permission, especially when the reason for taking them is to ridicule the subject online. It is harrasment and bullying.

Yes. I don’t wear shoes at my desk. My employer is fine with it.

MOD NOTE: I’ve deleted some pictures from this thread. I don’t think it’s kosher to post pictures like this as the people involved haven’t given consent. Any questions, PM me.

Just to clarify on the pics, I didn’t take any of those pics (I never even take my phone into the gym). Those pics are readily available online, on FKW sites. I simply typed “Full Kit W@ankers at the gym” into google images to source those, they’re all on page 1 of google images.

And FYI, they’ve already been posted on the FKW thread on boards - yes, there is such a thing.

I've never heard the term 'fkw' before this thread.

Mostly I could care less what someone wears.

Apart from a Judo tattoo on my right calf (and its fairly cryptic anyway) telling people I'm a Judoka I wear just about anything that's comfortable, and if I've cycled to the gym you'll most likely see me wearing lyrca budgie smugglers :)

[I've also a Led Zeppelin tattoo on my left calf, if any one see's 'em in Northwood say HI :) ]

Since we're online and nit picking is allowed/encouraged I'll pick on the 'fkw' (I'm with the cool kids now) and say full 'Tapout' or UFC crap looks silly to me unless you're a fighter.

Ah, the lads who wear shirts saying UFC but their body says KFC! :pac:

The PT’s in my gym are worse than useless. One of them does an hours session with clients but basically uses the time to do a workout themselves. Usually involves throwing the client onto a machine while they fcuk off and do a few sets of something on the other side of the gym. Earlier I saw him put his client on the lat pull down machine while he spent about ten mins off doing leg press. The client was just sitting there waiting for him to finish and come back to him. Rinse and repeat for the next exercise. Just so disrespectful especially as the client looks to be new to the gym and wouldn’t know any different. This happens every time I see him in there with someone.

The other PT is a total head wreck. He’s the type that you’ll hear him long before you’ll see him, just a big mouth. When he does sessions with his clients he spends the hour talking about all his side projects and how much money he’s making doing X, Y and Z but in reality he hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about. He’s absolutely obsessed with money. When I spot him with a new client, you can always hear him directing the conversation towards money/finances while occasionally going through a few exercises with the client.

That is extraordinary. To be honest I almost blame the client for not walking away.

I presume we're talking about a gym induction by an instructor as opposed to actual paid personal training but it's still disgraceful. Don't these places have managers?

I'd say a majority of the new gym members have no confidence in the gym and probably question if they're right in thinking the trainer is wrong. So I can see how the client doesn't walk away, thw first couple of times it happens anyway.

    The trainer is a scumbag.

    Jesus thats shocking!!

Stunning the poor standard that exists out there and how poorly clients are treated

Had my first encounter with stereotype naked old man in gym changing yesterday.
Spent 5 mins drying himself in the mirror with hair dryer and nearly 50% of that time was drying his knob and bum.
    Disturbing...

I genuinely don't understand the stick "tapout" clothing gets over all other sports brands. Yes, these people aren't fighters. So what? Most/All of the lads wearing all sorts of sports gear aren't athletes.

Meh, maybe I'm just a grump.

It's not just you. I don't get it either. It's just gear someone might like for the gym.

I wouldn't wear it myself. I usually wear generic t-shirts and tracksuit bottoms or soccer shorts for HIIT. Doesn't mean I think I'm a PL player!

Must actually invest in some Everlast stuff despite the fact I couldn't box a gift. :D

I guess it's from the inherent machismo and alpha male personality associated with combat sports and the juxtaposition between that and getting a nosebleed trying to deadlift 50kg.

maybe its because the branding on the clothing is so in your face

Gymshark, myprotein etc its all the same, people desperate to belong to a group and to tie their identity to that perceived ideal
