King David was a big noise in the area of what is now Israel (roughly) but his kingdom didn't extend as far north as where Constantinople was established.

    OK- my question;

    What links

    King David,
    Alexander the Great,
    Julius Caesar,
    Charlemagne?
Theres something to do with them being from different religions but being regarded as the embodiment of Chivalry.

My other guess would be that theyre all homosexual?

Each was the first bearer of his name and passed it on to numerous generations ( Magnus in the case of Charlemagne. )

    Either that or Sean Drea.

Allegedly, these are the 4 Kings depicted on a set of playing cards.

So, more of a trivia question than a history one.

OMG. As a man twenty years older that myself (now deceased) asked me thirty years ago: "where did all the years go?"

The guy was so cheesed off after that final and I felt so sorry for him. You would have got very long odds from the bookies on him not to get a medal of some colour.

Question: Who was the first person who called or referred to the current president of the USA as "The Donald"?

Predates her, I think. I'd guess Ivana, if any of his wives.

Oh! I thought I was pretty sure of that! Yes, it may have been one of the others I was thinking of.

It was Ivana, i think this is discussed in the Netflix series Dirty Money, worth a watch.

    Ivana is correct.
It springs from a phenomenon known to linguists as over-correction. Ivana's first language is Czech. Slavic languages other than Bulgarian and Macedonian have neither a definite nor an indefinite article so that Slavs speaking a Western European language have a tendency to insert "the" before proper names.
I once listened to a tour guide in Sarajevo speaking of the Austro-Hungarian period and referring again and again to "The Wien." It took me a while to twig that he was talking about Vienna.
I knew a man who kept poultry, a man from a part of the country where folks were always talkin' about runnin' an' racin'. He used to talk about his chickings.

What was unusual about the equestrian events at the 1956 Olympics?

They were held in Stockholm, because Australian quarantine regulations prevented them being held in Melbourne.

    We're rolling again.

    Your question.

Name the only country whose president was an Olympic gold medallist.

North Korea? If that's correct, I think you should have said "president", instead of president.

Not quite, though I believe he covered an 18 hole golf course with 18 holes in one. Maybe he's too busy to compete in the Olympics, sacrificing that for his country.
