But, ffs; if I'd overstayed by a feckin' fortnight, I'd seriously not expect any trouble over it.

Rule no 3: NEVER remonstrate with a border official

It's a sad story alright, and shows the US can be daft but it's their country, their rules.

    Holiday elsewhere.

In the U.S, yes, it is

Even if you overstay by a day.

You should be ok on LiveLine if
You overstay your visa by a few days
You stop paying insurance and have an accident a few days after

I have a feeling the US are right, he stayed til Oct 9th. They know when he left.

Imagine if they stopped Joe and asked him what he worked at and how much a year he earned.

I doubt they would have believed him.

Pretty much. The idea of having to jump through hoops just to enter the place would be enough to put me off ever going there.

    Same.

Have no interest in ever visiting the place.

Really, in the likes of this kind of circumstance, it should be a case of a warning that, "We know you overstayed before, and we've got our eye on you, so don't do it again, buddy. Now off you go and enjoy your holiday."

    What a cunch of bunts.

I go there every year. There are no hoops. You just abide by the rules and there's no problem. Irish people seem to have a problem with rules.
