Surprisingly I don't think the business seats are quite as good Aer Lingus! The cabin is a standard 2-2-2 lie flat layout with most reviews noting the seats are quite narrow, it's a nice product but a downgrade from Aer Lingus Business Class.

I think this is part of why Qatar are offloading the A330s, rather than refit them with their Reverse Herringbone/QSuite products. They're also not lie flat, just angle flat.

Quite a big downgrade if that's case! Surprised Qatar still entertain angle flat seats considered their 5 star status. It'll be easy to spot on the seat maps at least.

To be fair, they don't seem to be flying for Qatar on routes as long as EI's long haul, at least not in recent years, all long haul routes get the reverse herringbone/QSuites of the 787/A350/777s, the A330s seem to be doing mostly mid haul routes.

But is that aircraft meant to get the Aer Lingus seats configuration sometime soon (even if later this year) or to remain with the business and economy class on the qatar configuration permanently?

It was mentioned on the last page that it'll get a cabin refit at the next C check.

I believe the cabin will be refitted sometime after the summer to EI spec

As it stands the Qatar aircraft would be fine for AGP/FAO and the short trips to BOS/JFK/EWR if pushed. Or it could end up on the MIA/MCO routes where its more leisure biz than corporate biz and MIA isn't doing great anyway.

IFE is a trivial change, if its a Panasonic based system then its a simple reinstall and then its all green

Wi-Fi is another issue, EI use a panasonic/Telekom setup which is different to Qatar

MIA apparently has recently improved and its meant to do fine too for the Summer season . We shall see what happens but the route is meant to stay (and it is for sale already until next year on the EI booking system and page)

MIA only started 7 months ago going into the winter season and 2 weeks before Irma hit. It was also affected by Zika virus so id be hopeful things will improve coming into the summer season. I flew to Miami a week after Irma and there where at least 160 onboard which is fairly good considering.

Titan 767 positioning to Shannon under an EI flight number. Obviously operating for them today. Is that because one of the 757's is going to Philly?

Will operate tomorrow from SNN too.

I'd assume they have the aircraft and this is some blip of some sort, I've no idea why Titan are operating today.

LBS did Shannon Dublin this morning so they are short a hull in Shannon

There are 4 757 services and 4 757's so it should all fit

For 2017 they carried just over 41k passengers on the route.

Linked article says 77,000 for 2017

Linked article says 77,000 for 2017

It said 77,000 in its first 12 months. It started in September 2016.

Airport figures are for arrivals only. I would imagine the 77,000 are for the route in total. Either way one can assume the same number in each direction. Previous post edited for clarity.

No qatari maroon interior until next winter, there's a premium economy section too I think it extends aft of door 2

QR don't have PE on any of their aircraft.

Sorry I think it's business so that extends beyond door 2...

According to the interweb A7-ACH is 24J236Y, which would mean J only goes between doors 1 and 2.

Jethro's are showing it as a 5 year lease.

EI A332's are currently 23J, so 24J with a (probably smaller seat should be no problem)

Im sure some pics will surface over the next month to confirm/deny what we are expecting.

EDIT: in relation to pics of EI-GEY, there is a possibility of a very "interesting" livery. Got chatting to a former colleague who is still with EI.

I'm intrigued... Soft launch of a New Livery?

I would do the rugby livery 'flow' throughout the fleet, replacing the player 'photos' with scenes from Ireland, themed around people/tech/places... Keep the shamrock... Modernize that dreadful font... It was old when it was new... And doesn't digitise well.

A variation on Frontier and Norwegian... Branded but differentiated.

Another retro livery would be very cool, perhaps the late 1950's, early 1960's livery that came before EI-DVMs retro livery.

An A320 or an A330 in this scheme would be great.

    .....
To be honest my guy isnt sure, but definitely not a launch of a new livery.
I dont think EI is looking at that just yet. More an effort to differentiate this aircraft from the other A330's.
Im guessing because as mentioned previously that the interior is different?
They did this back in the 90's when they got an all economy A330.

    Vacations Ireland or something?

bitrot means its harder and harder to find 1990s stuff online than actually earlier things which were on paper and scanned sometimes!

Well no point having the 1980's livery as the A330's came in this originally. The 707 livery would be kind of cool, but I fear we are going to see the return of the social media jet

The 707 livery is in effect what is worn by EI-DVM, though the green used on the A320 is a good bit darker that in the original mid/late 1960s livery.
