Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm saying most because I've edited and deleted posts that were, frankly, out of order - I can't be sure I got them all, there was A LOT to read, so I may edit more stuff at a later stage if I spot it.

    THIS IS THE ONLY THREAD THAT SHOULD BE USED FOR DISCUSSING THE BUSINESS CAT COMIC STRIP THREAD.

    Now, here's a quick summary of the forum charter again, READ IT AND FOLLOW IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T POST.

    Secondly, you have someone trolling ie cork boy.

    People have expressed their opinion about the thread, he is spoiling the fun that has been running for 3 years as I'm sure most regulars in here would agree but he is being allowed to continue to do so.

    He has been called out a couple of times and a couple of times has said he will refrain from posting yet here he is again.

    That is thread spoiling.

    Mod note: One more thing - as usual, if you have a problem with a post please report it, and we'll look at it. I'm not saying there's no chat here (not at the moment, anyway), but all this isn't making the thread any nicer, I don't think. The rule of not attacking other posters still stand, though.

    As for the rest, we mods will discuss it and we'll post back.

    While I understand and agree with the sentiment of the above post, P, Boards has long had a "spirit of the forum" ethos. Imo CB is flying in the face of that. This thread was started by Business Cat to post his adventures, it's VERY goofy, I know, but that's kind of the point of it, that's part of the "joke" and part of why people get a laugh out of it.

    For the record, I don't expect him to be carded, thread banned or whatever as that would be nonsense, he just doesn't seem to have the awareness that he is being a bit of a dick, which again, is one of the long standing tenants of Boards, ie, don't be one.*


    *I'm aware that we are debating memes about a cartoon cat in a suit and am aware of the ridiculousness of that.

    I love my Friday afternoon postings about the cat’s latest adventures, I don’t watch out for them religiously but when you see it, you go yeah!!. And sure enough, there it was last Friday.

    However, it was somewhat marred by the fact that it was posted by yourself.

    This is Business Cat’s thread. He set it up, he introduced us to him and he even named himself after it.

    I like to think of Boards as a village. Populated by wierd and passionate people, we share our knowledge to whoever wants to know. But like every functioning community, there has to be order and everybody has their place. Mine’s mainly over in Food & Drink. This is Business Cat’s place.

    Maybe you can start your own thread, but with a name like Cork Boy, I can’t for the life of me think of what that would be, sorry! :rolleyes:

    BC has been registered since 2012 and has over 12k posts. If you regged as xkcd and butted in, you'd hopefully be treated with the "Don't be a dick" rule and carded.



    Cork Boy is just taking the pee as far as I'm concerned. BC started the thread (not sure if under the same name, but that doesn't matter) and kept the thread running every Friday. That is until CB started posting, then things went downhill. Since then, there has been less comments on Business Cat (the comic) and more on a wannabe wrecking the thread.

    If the thread was being left idle for weeks at a time then this point would hold some water but it was getting updated within a couple of hours of a new strip being released, by myself, since I started it. It's a little corner of boards that some people have been having fun with for 3 years.

    Y'know what, I've stayed out of this for ages, and I really had no opinion either way as I was just enjoying the comics.

    But at this point, it really is you being childish. You know full well that since the thread was created that BC was posting the weekly updates, but in some weird attempt to be edgy, or possibly just out of sheer boredom, you decided to throw that all of in attempt to be cool or something.

    Frankly I don't care if a different person posts it each week, but at this point your attitude is really really childish and kinda sad.

    I came here like everyone else to enjoy some business cat on a Friday afternoon and saw none posted. Figuring Business Cat (the poster) was busy or unable to post for some reason, I stepped in and posted. Other people took offense to that and they turned the thread into a whine fest.     I'd like to apologise for my part in all this bullshyt.

    I'll fully admit I'm being a bit precious about the thread. I started posting the BC strips in the YLYL thread a number of years ago when I came across them as i really enjoyed them, people got a kick out of them so I started this thread to allow people to track it from the beginning and to keep them all in the same place so yes, i do feel a level of ownership about the thread. I started it and have maintained it so i think that much is understandable. Someone in a previous post mentioned that im annoyed about someone else getting the "thanks" for posting. It's nothing to with thanks, if that was all I wanted I'd just post them in the YLYL thread which has a much higher viewership.

    Our own little Business Cat sub community has grown over the years on the back of this thread as is evidenced by peoples responses to cork boy trying to insinuate himself into proceedings but despite repeated requests he is ignoring what the majority want and is continuing to cause derailing of the thread.

    He clearly does not have the wherewithal to see this, perhaps he is trolling, but it's abundantly clear that it's not going to stop which means the thread will continue to be derailed and we will end up with pages of crap like the last page.

    It saddens me a bit that the weekly bit of fun and speculation about what will happen next will have to end as the only feasible option is that a no chat rule be introduced. Otherwise we are going to go around in circles as CB has said he is not going to stop so there is nothing else that can be done.

    That's my final thoughts on the whole thing. It's been a huge amount of fun but unfortunately, like most things with Boards these days, all good things must come to an end due to the actions of the few.

    I'll continue to post the strips as they are released anyway as I'll be damned if I let him ruin that much.

    It was just a bit of fun to be honest. It's sad that Cork Boy couldn't just start another thread for related stuff while this one stuck to speculation and the comic itself so now we have a page of what is basically the antithesis of what the thread was originally intended for, ie a bit of fun.

    As someone who has asperger's (ie me) it's also not funny.
    Asperger's/ASD/Autism is not a catch all term. Some people are just jerks, there doesn't need to be a syndrome or diagnosis!
