i have about 12 close female friends. about 10 of them have been raped by public admission. It's a horrible statistic and one that is difficult to hold in my heart knowing how many it happened to. Some very violent.

I have about 5 close male friends. 2 of which have been falsely accused of rape. Proven in court.

To be perfectly honest, I'm having a hard time believing your stats there.

That ok. I'm not sure why its hard to believe though. I don't have any reason to lie about it. I know the number is a bit high. Unfortunately that's just the stats in my group. I dont know other groups. I guess it also lacks the "well i've known 50-200 females in my life in various intensities, only ONLY 10 were raped. I guess it really depends on how you look at it. Perhaps there is a behavioral trend why these specific people tended to remain in my life longer than others.

Most of those females are friends about 5-10 years. Several of them had it occur before we met. Just over the years, each of those have come out and told me about their experience. Many seemed to have happened when they were 21-24ish. Most are about 30 now. 3 of them told me in 2017/2018 as the #MeToo campaign encouraged. I think 2 of them happened pre 20 years old. I know one of them was only about 15 as we are friends 10 years and she told me near the start.

Regards the males. One was a court case that fell apart as the evidence had changed several times and it was very clear she was lying. There was a string of text messages after the 'incident' but the girl deleted Just the specific ones that would dispel the lies. As she presented the case that way, when they looked at the records which obviously would show all the messages, It was very clear things were being twisted deliberately. What actually happened was they were BSDMing and the guy didnt want to do something (it involved poop). He declined. She did something. They guy was turned off and left. The girl took it as some kind of personal rejection and reacted in the above way.

The other male was much more straight forward. She confessed as the case started to form. It was drunken regret sex. They had been in a similar dynamic many times. They both were always drinking too much. She was angry and did something stupid.

Not saying i dont believe you but if you have 17 friends and 10 have been raped and 2 have been accused of rape then those are very odd statistics.

Ive never met, heard of or been told about anyone even remotely close to my circle of friends that have been raped or accused.

The male statistic is not that shocking but still a bit weird, but the female statistic means you either seek out damaged friends or some of them are playing fast and loose with the word rape.

Just as a comparison the rape statistics in the UK (couldnt find the Irish one) is 0.17% per year. If the statistics remain consistent with ireland the chances that you are friends with 10 rape victims is huge.

Yeah I appreciate its higher than the reported average. It was equally surprising for me to learn this over the years. In a very hard way. Opened my eyes to how prevalent it is.

I would just like to correct one thing though. They are not "damaged". They were victims of a crime n I've no where implied they've trauma being expressed from it in any way they'd be considered damaged. They're pretty much all healthy fairly well adjusted to different extents. I think it's important to point that out. Though I know you meant no direct meaning of that.

That's very very odd to me. Obviously a very different experience than mine.
I wonder would the fact that most of my friends are in various diverse groups. Eg. Gay. Bi sexual. Trans. Etc could there be a much higher rate there.

I dont understand why false rape claims aren't a completely vilified crime. You're essentially forcibly imprisoning an innocent person, the liar should be given the usual sentence that that crime gets

I'd like to know more about the events that happened. Like why did she make the report in the first place. Did she wake up after having sex with someone and think she'd been raped?
The reason I ask this is because the story says she pled innocent to knowingly making a false claim. Did she actually believe that she had been raped at some point?

    http://www.radiokerry.ie/killorglin-woman-made-false-rape-allegation-sentenced-next-year/

She’d gone on a night out and had a lot of drink. She left the nightclub with her ex and went to an underground car park and had rough but consensual sex with him. At 4am she went to the Garda Station and said she’d been raped behind the courthouse by a Pakistani man in a green hoodie.
She only conceded that none of that happened when she was shown still pictures of herself with the ex that night.
A Czech man had his flat searched by Gardai and his possessions seized. He must have been terrified.
She plead not guilty to “knowingly making a false report” but the jury decided that she was guilty.
