The team with the better pack is bashing them up front and when they get over the gain line, have moved it.

The other team are moving it wide quickly and repeatedly.

One approach is being far more effective.
How is it being far more effective? It’s not like we’re hammering them, it’s not like we’re starving them of the ball.

An intercept and one try for 40 minutes of side to side effort. Scotland would have a try of their own only for an error.

    Ringrose looks in great form

    Mad stat for Stockdale

Two things stood out for me in that last try.

    - For once we trusted ourselves to go wide. I was expecting us to play it safe and run though phase after phase two metres out from the touchline. Very pleased with that.

    - Watching on TV I though it was Sexton who made the pass to Stockdale, because it was the same loop around that Sexton does. I've often heard it said that we don't have a proper playmaking centre, so I'm delighted to see the attacking influence of Ringrose.

Toner has had a good half.

    The backrow have not.

We've wasted a few serious opportunities ourselves. Think Scotland have been about as expected. Good ruck play, running the ball, but they are asking to be caught when they chuck the ball around the way they do and the England game was similar.

Leavy is having a stormer. Moves his feet before contact every time and eeks out an extra yard or 2.

Ringrose proving why he's first choice 13 in my opinion. He's been excellent.

Leavy has been very good as well. Those two the major standouts. Stander putting in some big hits as well.

Because we’ve the territory, possession, and the score line.

Listen, we’ve been poor, I’ll admit that, I’m hoping for an improved second half, but we’re winning the tactical battle clearly, and I hope to see more of the same in the 2nd half - just better.

We have scored two tries, how many have they scored?

Those relative approaches have directly led to the only tried. Scotland's eagerness to lash it wide hurt them before Ireland's try came through a couple of bashes at the line and isolating the defence before throwing it wide.

It's not pretty at times but it's clearly a plan and it's effective. Our forwards have made a huge amount of yardage with close in carries.

On a side note, it’s getting really annoying how often we go for the corner and lose the ensuing lineout at this stage.

Furlong is such a good player it's ridiculous

Ringrose has been excellent, hard to believe he is only back from a serious injury.

Kearney Ringrose and Leavy the standout players in the first half

Confident with what the bench has to bring for us

Failing to see with POM is bringing to our game however[/QUOTE]

I know, leading the tackling stats for Ireland, bringing nothing to the game

We've attacked extremely well of set plays and made a lot of linebreaks and metres. Our phase play does like a bit ropey and Scotland's own attack really should've yielded them a try. Neither side has been that good to be honest.

I’ve heard Doug Howlett is worried Stockdale might overhaul his try record...

In what way do you feel our attacking tactics contributed to the first try?

Chr*st on off the ball they are talking about winning now with a bonus point. The mocker Gods will not be pleased. We are 11 points ahead but I still feel we are in danger of losing this unless we step up a couple of gears.

    Ringrose has been class.

Ringrose, Kearney, Leavy, Toner, Furlong, Healy have all been very good.

    Earls, Aki have been poor...

    The rest, below average....

We need to kick it up a notch. Big 2nd half ahead ...
