Used to love 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers and The Price is Right with Leslie Crowthers (Phil Lynott's father-in-law) back in the day.

Here's some game show trivia that I recently found out... back in the 60s a struggling actor by the name of Dickie Dawson was married to Diana Dors, an English blonde bombshell of the time. He went on to become a famous game show host in America in the 70s. I only know him as Damon from The Running Man, where he parodied his TV self.

The worst shows are anything with that beardy ****er Noel Edmonds.

Bullseye was a great tv show. I’d suggest that now darts has become so popular again that some canny tv producer brings it back.

They tried that a few years ago when darts was booming and at its peak with the comedian Dave Spikey hosting and it completely bombed.

My favourite is The Chase. Also have a guilty liking for Tipping Point even though Ben Shephard is v cardboard.

Noel Edmond's Cheap Cheap Cheap on Channel 4 is I think the worst game show I have watched in several years. It's a pointless & dreck format with people winning very little money from it at all unless they were lucky. Another one is Million Euro Challenge with Nicky Byrne on RTÉ. That was another one that was rubbish done by our very own National Lottery. I have to admit that it was a very boring show. The games featured in it were also rubbish.

It was already brought back in 2006 with the terrible Dave Spikey hosting. It just didn't work, I think the time and era made Bullseye more than anthing.

Sky produced a darts based quiz show called 180 a couple of years ago which was diabolical. I think it was cut after one season.

Anyone remember this? Hardly I'd say because it didn't last.
My abiding memory will be 2 groups of people going into steeltech garden sheds to discuss a plan of action. Woeful sh1te altogether.

    Fifteen to one.

I loved that show in the 80s - is it still on?

William G Stewart died I think.

Yes it's hosted by Sandy Toksvig now.

So popular? Few nights over Christmas watching fat bald lads

Know your sport was good.. worst has to be winning streak

Is telly bingo still on the go?

would university challenge count as a quiz show?? always looks so depressing

one thing I don't get is people going to quiz shows to be in the audience and watch. I'd say there is so much jealousy going on. Imagine been on WWTBAM and you pick ask the audience and they end up losing the game for u.

speaking of winning streak is Mike Murphy still alive ?? he must be a fair age

    15-to-1 is class, a classic
If only they could bring back William G Stewart, the former presenter.

I don't think he's dead, at least I hope not.

Tipping Point, as has been mentioned is pure desperate.
It is a sad excuse of a game show/quiz programme.

Sadly, he died last September. No reprise.

He's still alive and according to Wikipedia, he's 76. He returned to RTE a couple of years ago with a nostalgia-based quiz show called 'Play it by Year'.

    Tipping Point.

TV Executive: "Let's make a large version of a money grabbing carnival game and build a show around it. People will lap it up!"

    And sadly they do

I hate that show, the chase is the only game show worth watching on t.v .

    "The robin in the garden,

    That was me,

    I'm still here, Loving you..

    Until we meet again. "

what is the worst the tv game show we have

i think it is the chase
there is very little chance of the contestants winning anything
everything is biased towards the chaser by not having to buzz in just answer .
and the speed you can lock in your answer and put the other person under pressure
then you have the controvery over the timer when it stretched out to let the chaser catch

what do you think is the worst and why

The Chase is a quiz show. There's no "game" involved. It's just that the format is that you have a certain number of "lives".

This will probably be an unpopular pick, but I don't like Pointless.

    Not unpopular. It's absolutely awful.

And what makes it awful is how tediously it is dragged out.
Alexander Armstrong reading out very quickly the interminable list of options, then reading them ALL out again as if you have neither the ability to read what he just said yourself or capable of hearing him the first time. It's a masterclass in dragging the arse out of their time slot.

And when the contestant gives an answer he also draws that out as well which is particularly irritating for viewers when it's immediately obvious that their answer is not a pointless answer e.g.

"Ok....Men's Olympic Gold medal in swimming.....so you're saying Michael Phelps is a pointless answer?...our category is Men's Olympic Swimming Gold medal winners... and you're guess is Michael Phelps....ok...so let's see if Michael Phelps is a pointless answer....."

And having gone through the bones of an hour of that crap what are they playing for? The jackpot of £1,000!!

What a load of bollox that show is.

Give me The Chase or Catchphrase any day.

Only Connect. My mind can't comprehend how the contestants make the connections to get a question right

the best quiz show on tv. The question setters are fantastic and Victoria Coren Mitchell doesnt hurt either.

I watched that episode last night (i'm a bit behind) and the wall rounds were just impossible. they really know how to ramp up the difficulty. I did get a couple in the first two rounds which i was quite pleased with. And i'm usually screaming answers at the tv during the missing vowels round.

Is that the one with the 4x4 grid? I found that the easiest somehow. And by easiest, I mean still very, very hard.

yeah the one with the 4x4 grid. Are you speaking in general or specifically about the one in that episode? In general i get a good shot of them right. I got nothing for either wall in that episode. In fairness neither did the contestants.

I showed that to an american housemate once. She was completely confused by it.

Why? Are Americans somehow not familiar with chance based games? It's probably the least complicated gameshow on television. Your friend could perhaps look up a little known place called Las Vegas!

I don't get the hate towards Winning Streak, sure it's pure luck based, but that's the very nature of how the contestants got there in the first place. The entertainment is in their chance to win big bucks. It's not like it's a game of chance and one person walks away after an hour with 2 grand in their pocket, and the rest bus it back with nothing.

It doesn't advertise itself as anything but that either, not like other shows where contestants have "strategies" and the like.
