Hey folks - would I be right in saying this is still the mid/low range budget phone to go for right now?

The missus is looking to buy a new phone, she doesn't want to spend much but wants an SD card and a good camera so this one looks really promising, and the fact that it's stock android seems to be a nice big bonus!

Also seems that amazon.es is the best place to get it, correct?

Geekbuying.com Italian warehouse is a very good option.

Depends on your definition of a good camera.
Poor quality is low light, decent enough for day time use.

It all depends on the light.

That is a good photo and would love to see how the mainstream flagships photos would differ from that

Does anyone else find Boards.ie very slow on this? I've tried both the new and legacy touch site but both are almost unusable, might be the ads rendering or something

Trade off here between cost and a good Amazon 2 year warranty.
The Chinese can be very hard work on warranty repairs.

Lenova didn't want to know on a 13 month Moto G defective phone
while Amazon gave me a full refund.

    Amazon.es €240...eglobal €180.

In fairness Xiaomi have a pretty good reliability record.

So is a two year warranty worth €60?

There's some f**king scum out there. Ordered this phone from Amazon.es with delivery done by parcel motel as I knew I wouldn't be home. Received the "your parcel is in your dropbox" text message today and was well excited.

Opened drop box and thought that the Amazon packaging wasn't fantastic, was more a sleeve than a box which could be easily opened on the sides without breaking the seal on the Amazon packaging.

Sure enough, big stanley blade slice down the face of the box, opened it up and no phone inside. Fairly gutted the inside of the box too for good measure. Phone was stolen and empty box put back into the Amazon "sleeve" and sent on its merry way.

I have contacted Amazon.es and Parcel Motel. Being honest I feel the blame lies with Amazon, the packaging was absolutely crap and was just asking for someone to have a peek inside. Should really have been put in a decent box.

Hopefully they will replace. Fairly pissed off now.

    Anybody any experience of this?

Just to update, emailed amazon and they're gonna send out a replacement right away, no hassle whatsoever.

Can't fault that response to be fair, just hope they put it in a more secure box this time!!

I received mine today, just over a week since I ordered from eGlobal. Had to intercept the DPD driver because he was handing my package to a person I had never seen at the other end of my estate, even though I was at home, they never bothered coming to my house to deliver it.

Phone is really nice, quick question for those who are owners, is there a way to turn off peeking with messaging services?

Ok, I finally got my refund from eglobal today. Now I have been a bit swayed by the benefits of ordering from Amazon. I'm not an online buyer much really and not sure how it works. Do Amazon guarantee all purchases? Why is Amazon.es the recommended place to buy according to a few here when there are cheaper options also on Amazon?

I believe it's because Spain is the only EU market that the phone has actually been released in so far, so the other amazon's are through resellers meaning you won't get the 2 year guarantee, I think?

Xiaomi have an official store on Spanish Amazon, hence why people are ordering from there.

Shipping for my phone was less than 4 euro for DHL and was very quick. I dunno about warranty issues as everything has been grand so far and I didn't really look into it beforehand.

Buying with Amazon gives you peace of mind that if something does go wrong with the product either in terms of the product itself or delivery etc etc they will take care of it straight away, no messing.

I've had issues with delivery and broken products with both Amazon US and Amazon UK and within 5 minutes of chatting online with their support they've sent a replacement with no messing about.

As others have said Xiaomi have only officially launched in Spain so that's why they are mainly selling from there. I would be cautious of third-party sellers on Amazon as they may be grey-importing the units from China.

You can always take a chance to save a few quid but I'd rather go with a safe bet.

All the Mi A1's seem to be out of stock at the moment on Amazon.es I'd imaine there's been a huge run on them!

    Ordered from Gearbest on 26/01/2018.

Apparently arrived in Ireland on 07/02/2018....has not moved from then. Gearbest expected me to wait until 28/03/2018 before they deemed the parcel 'lost'.

Opened PayPal case, got refund yesterday.

Ordered off eBay last night, dispatched this morning, expected delivery next Wednesday.

    Just 64gb version!

    32gb still in stock: - https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B0787LD1VS/ref=s9_dcacsd_dcoop_bw_c_x_4_w

Doesn't ship to Ireland, so i suppose you would need to use a service like Parcel Motel.

It does ship to Ireland. Got mine a few weeks ago. Delivery is about 6 euros, can take a while though. Only paid €185 for it so can't complain though.
