Big kudos due to you George. A huge amount of our planning was due to the compassionate concern and accurate updates you have been posting here all week. Take a bow..

Are there many without power? Neighbour has none and no generator. Feels alot warmer this morning. Oh had to go in digger to get local shopkeeper and his wife from their house to the shop in the digger. So shop is open now. Alot of the locals would be lost without the local shop in this weather

Drifts to around 3-4 ft in places but in general it’s not bad. I was at the farm earlier and snow had blown right in to the back walls. All I met on the roads were a couple of farmers with old cruisers and hilux’s. Would it be crazy to start clearing drifts out on the main roads or am I leaving myself open for a court case. If

Clearing here live up a steep hill, if it freezes with what snow is falling would be inaccessible for a week, have a heap of grit and salt to thaw it out for whenever milk tankers get back on road, managed to get it cleared Wednesday and milk collected

Bread, milk and wine were the most popular goods sold yesterday, indeed.

Dont be a hero and leave it to the professionals. Unless they are paying you and you are insured!

You could end up doing more damage than good. Sit in, drink tea and enjoy some time with the missus and kids ;)

Water will start to boil in the cylinder if the circulation pump isnt running with a big fire.. if plumbed correctly one rad should be plumbed directly as a heat sink.. no option but to slow down the fire..

It's a village no one is walking 5 miles. You enjoy your boiled egg now. Bit of a thaw on here now

If the shopkeeper has to travel by digger, how are the customers supposed to get there?......stay indoors and don’t be endangering yourself and other people.they called it code red for a reason.
Now where did I leave me egg..

This is it, people just aren't listening. Hot wedges and the roads outside will wait unless a medical emergency.

Wrap up, stay warm indoors for another day if possible at all. This is the danger period with slippy conditions.

Try holding a long metal tube (brush handle) against your ear with the other end in the snow and ring phone.
