Hard work getting to work in Dublin this morning. Such an amount of ejits out there. If you are afraid of the snow and driving at barely 50k then out of lane 3!

They're not afraid of the snow. They're afraid of injuring themselves or others because of the hazardous conditions. You're clearly the eejit.

I work in Dublin 1 and live in Dublin 12. Luas only operating between Red Cow and the Point currently so was able to get on one. However I'm worried about getting home! When is more snow expected for Dublin? Want to try and get home before the Luas fully stops!

No excuse for a tram route not operating. The trams they use operate in much colder temperatures in a regular basis (on the continent). Only reason could be visibility issues or simply the danger posed by other vehicles.

In my experience adverse temperature effects come in to play at around -20/-25C for rail transport.

There's an incident with a tram at Kingswood causing the disruption

Commuters may get to work but could find themselves stuck in work if heavy streamer activity kicks off today. Was one of the first out on backroads this am and they were near a foot in parts. I would say 4-7 inches at lower levels. Compacted ice is a factor to consider.

Take care if you have to drive, otherwise stay home. It's not worth the risk with significant accumulations for later.

6cm and steady stream of showers here in north Meath/Cavan border. Very little activity on the roads so guessing most places pulled the plug for today.

Primary and secondary schools closed in Virginia town.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

Absolute radio silence from Trinity College Dublin. Last update to the website was at 16:42 yesterday and says next update will be at lunchtime today. No email about travel safety either. Cos snow and cobblestones are a really safe mix.

Yes, anyone in the city should reconsider before lunchtime. Heavy snow coming in a few hours.

You probably dont need trinity to tell you that...

Snowing again in Ranelagh...but its not flakes...more like hail...in fact looking at the ground its 3-4 inches of hail.

Which is handy as it wipes off things easily....for now.

Decent accumulations around my place, schools closed, but leaving the inconveniences aside, it's great to see and hear the kids out playing excitedly in the snow! They're already out building snowmen and playing with sleds. The dogs are loving it too.

Stay safe boardsies, make sure all the humans and pets in your life are warm and dry, and please check on those living alone near you.
